I live here in the Silicon Valley. Believe me, it IS crazy. Now retired from Electronics, lived that insane experience in the 70's and 80's. Now it's software, not hardware. We've designed ourselves out of jobs, and sent manufacturing overseas, that leaves us with Software, R & D, or new startups. Great documentary. Way too expensive here.

They talk about all the good things in Silicon Valley and hid the problems going on in Bay area and CA right now. I have never seen so many homeless people in downtown SF while visiting last September. I dont feel safe walking outside at night. After finding out what has been going on in that state; Santuary cities, extreme liberalism at its worst where its ok to do drugs in the underground BART stations, homelessness, gentrification, asinine laws creating higher and higher taxes, you name it, you got it, my perception of that city has changed. It is a city full of millionaires, techies and the homeless. We have a mass exodus of the middle class who simply can't take it anymore. Sure you might have the rich who is willing to help the poor but there will be a breaking point. Even the techies are now feeling the pinch of not being able to afford to buy a home there with median prices of US $850,000. I'm an engineer myself and I'm good where I'm at.
@Richland Zee - Totally agree. The politicians and politics are destroying what took people centuries to create and are slowly diminishing the value and future potential of the area (including Washington D.C. with our ridiculous and unsustainable immigration law/VISA system which has cost the U.S. economy $Trillions in lost innovation/ revenue/ jobs/ taxes/ investment). Median home prices are closer to $1.4 Million now.
@Diana Love - To call your comment an oversimplification of the cause of the problem(s) would be an understatement. It's multi-faceted in it's origins (homeless people come here from all over the U.S., Canada, and the world for the weather, liberalism, drug friendly culture/politics/free needles/Cannabis culture, etc./homeless programs/Sanctuary city/county/state, ease of panhandling for a living (I've given $thousands of dollars to homeless people, and some make as much as $100K+ a year from panhandling). It isn't the responsibility of the "rich" or middle class to help the poor. Most do regardless (in many different ways). There will always be tens of millions of poor people and as populations grow (people don't use contraception/prophylactics) the problem is inevitable. Too many people who cannot afford children continue to have them and then blame the system or sponge off it (social services/welfare), for survival. Leftism/Marxism is a disease and mental illness. People need to take personal responsibility regardless of their station in life. There is far too little of that and far too much feeling of "entitlement". We do need banking law reform (like a new and better Glass-Steagall Act). We do need tax law reform. And the wealthy should pay their fair share. Whatever amount that is, has to be fair to them also. But most importantly, Capitalism is not the problem. Corruption, collusion, and white collar crime is. We have to enforce laws, expand oversight and regulation of financial industries (especially), and corporate governance (while retaining as much of a Free Market System as possible).
