I know this is an older video...but I wanted to say that natural hair colour is always going to look so much better than a dyed colour. I was convinced of this when a woman that caught the same train as me every day stopped dyeing her hair and she looked so much softer and dare I say younger...I decided then and there to stop dyeing my hair. I haven’t used dye for a few years now, and I don’t straighten it either. My hair is multi-coloured now to the point that people think I have streaks added to it 😳 I’m slowly changing the colours in my wardrobe, I wore autumn colours with my dyed red hair, now soft, light and cool are my colours. Love all Jen’s videos as they’ve helped tremendously with seeing my true colours 💕

I stopped dying my hair two years ago at 54 but don’t have a lot of grey yet. I’m enjoying my natural color without that red that always bleeds through dyed hair. But it did free me up to also stop keratin and I am now naturally wavy which I never took the time to learn how to style. My husband prefers my wavy hair. Now with the pandemic i no longer polish my nails. I am letting the yellow grow out and am loving my naturally pink nails! I only use cuticle oil and a clear polish that doesn’t yellow. No toe nail polish either. Love it! After a lifetime of polishing I no longer like how it looks. It’s crazy what we do to ourselves instead of enjoying our natural beauty.

      I am so with you!
My nails look so healthy and long since I no longer polish them. I am enjoying my jewelry more with natural nails.

Great discussion! Going natural is such a journey of self realization. Thanks to both of you for sharing. More guests would be lovely. Someone warm with gray hair maybe?

A great conversation, I truly enjoyed this. I remember Bobbie Brown once talking about the pressure on women to stay young and skinny. There comes a time when you color your hair you don't look younger, you look like an old lady with dyed hair. I think we should just want to look good, no matter what our age. I know I don't want to look like a bad cloning experiment of my younger self.

Yeah for silver hair! Been dye free for almost four years, a positive journey. You look great in the navy top and red lips. "Giving up make-up", is a catty comment. We should enhance what is naturally ours. With that argument, why wash our hair!

Monique Parent's RUclips channel has lots of videos on how to go grey. Check her out. There are more women being brave enough to go on a grey journey and it's nice to see how they are all supportive of each other.

Interesting how all of us ladies that decide to stop dying our hair, the salon disagrees. Are they just thinking of the money they will earn. They should embrace our choices. Thankfully our salons are closed so I can do whatever I want, xxx 😘

I my youth I would always jokingly remark to my friends as to why was it that men always appeared😂 sophisticated and worldly, with salt and pepper, greying hair, whereas women would just look old and unsexy! We have been conditioned through media and marketing to see it that way. I am now in my late fifties and decided not to go back to colouring my hair after the COVID. It was big decision because of everyone’s negative reactions. It has been the most liberating thing and my greys are looking great with my shoulder length hair. I got my inspiration from all the beautiful women online, who were “embracing” their greys.

I relate with everything Katie said, especially the season/color confusion. I thought I was the only one, lol.
Also, wish I saw this in December before I cut my shoulder length hair into a pixie cut, lol. That was the start of my grey hair adventure.

Loved this discussion today from both beautiful ladies. I got lots of support from my family. My journey started last year now with this Covid thing I should be completely grey very soon. Thank you ladies 😀. Jen has anyone ever told you you look like Lisa Kudrow from Friends. Lol.

    So love this video!
I am in New York and we are still in quarantine so, no hair perfessionals are working. The first month I found myself depressed because I could not get my hair done. It has been a few months now and I decided I will no longer dye my hair. I was dying it platinum so the white showing isn't that far off.
I do see darker hair throughout my hair so, I am not sure how I will look but I am looking forward to the outcome. I think I am mostly white, so we shall see.
I had a short pixi cut for years, then last year started growing it long. It is pass my shoulders so, I will not be cutting it.
I really appreciate both of you for sharing your experiences.

Health Food Store has very good semi-permanent colouring products that are helping me with a natural grey transition. Unlike salon colouring, they let your natural highlights show through and then fade out gradually so that the roots aren't obvious (if you are 6N or higher). Now that I am more grey, I am considering how to do my own low-lights. I use the Italian brand that has been around for at least 50 years, but the UK brand is good too. I am very sensitive to chemicals in general. My hairdresser says that most of his long-term clients become chemically sensitive after menopause.

I started seeing white when I was in highschool, during college I plucked them, when I working I was dependent to henna, after that I fell in love with bleach and vibrant colors, green, blue, red , orange , yellow, pink , purple you name, they are cute but I was not happy , last year when I was 34 I stopped coloring my hair, I was so shocked my white hair is so even, I loveit , now I cut my hair , colored my remaining bleached part into white/gray color and growing my white hair, this is the most satisfying hairstyle ever

I think the block style home hair kit was ageing me. To cover my grey, I needed dark brown yet my natural hue is ash mid/light brown with 25% grey.

Imagine having to be told your own chemical free hair is OK to have on your head. The advertisers are doing an amazing job with the brainwashing. This woman looks amazing ❤️

What I like about hair dye is that it calms down the wireyness and frizz of my gray hair. I really can’t handle the texture change. If I could dye it but with a non color I would just to improve the texture.

Elsa, I stuck with color for so long because of the texture issues but you know what's crazy? Once I finally let the dye fade away, my new gray growth turned out to be surprisingly smooth, silky & shiny. I wasn't expecting that! I think new gray growth tends to seem more wiry/frizzy due to the fact that it sticks straight up out of your head :-) but for some reason, I (and a lot of my fellow silver sisters) have noticed that if you let your gray grow in more (i.e, not just an inch or less), it calms down. I did a poll on my FB group (11,000 women) and the vast majority found their texture improved when they embraced their gray. So, just wanted to put that out there :-)

deep condition with non silicone based treatments. Virgin silver hair is healthier, softer, shinier. I have curly hair, understand the frizz phobia. Try it.
