Do you know if the roman empire had problems in Dumnonia? I ask because that aria is not heard of much (apart from Exeter) and because of the celtic language (Cornish) which was still commonly used untill the 18th century.
The main reason Cornish survives to this day is because the Anglo-Saxons had problems in Dumnonia. Prior to their coming most of the inhabitants of Britain still spoke Celtic languages. I would imagine Cornwall wasn't easy for the Romans, though they certainly brought its tin and mineral deposits under control fairly quickly, as that was one of the reasons for invasion Britain in the first place. I would imagine the Romans sort of let the Cornish be, and gradually Romanised them over successive generations, though this Romanisation was only relatively skin deep, even after four hundred years of rule.

didn't know that armenia still existed as a nation until i looked it up in the map some while ago, i always thought that the armenians were destroyed by the ottomans once and for all, especially after the genocide of the 20th century. i should read more to find out how the medieval aremenian kingdom has transitioned to give the modern armenian state.
The Middle Ages are essentially only the middle of Armenia's path. The history of the Armenian nation and state begins many thousands of years ago. Now the capital of the Republic of Armenia is the city of Yerevan, it is more than 2,800 years old, it is 29 years older than Rome. And we are waiting with love and warmth for any person who comes to us.
This was great, knew nothing about it. I love when people make little kingdoms for themselves. Even more so when they get exiled or they have to migrate or something and they manage to do it anyway.
And, the more one digs into the un-falsified ancient history of the Armenians, the more they'll understand who the 'Hittites' were & what is meant by 'Lords of the Mountains'.
I have been collecting Cilician Silver and bronze coins, many of them I acquired from reputable sellers on ebay which I have authenticated. Its fascinating to hold a coin that was used by the people of the last Armenian kingdom. One of my most interesting coins on an overstrike coin which was part of the annual payment of hundreds of thousands of silver coins paid to the Mamluks after losing a war. Its an Armenian coin that was heated and overstruck with Arabic writing because it was easier and cheaper then melting and making new blanks. If this coin could talk the stories it would tell, I can imagine it on a horse and carriage making its way south to the Mamluk Arabs to pay their tribute.
@Ronald McDonalds Lmao, wow that was a good one, a Turk called himself an Anatolian. If we Armenians aren't the ancient Antolians, then who the fuck are you?
I've done my national service at that region. I've watched Sis castle lots of time. It was a pure pleasure to be there... Thanks for mention, it worth;) Btw, seljuk population did not pour onto anatolia. They converted anatolian population mainly. Turkey Turks are mainly long converted Armenians and Ions.
Saint Joseph Yes it did. The islamified turkic people that fought the once great abassid caliphate either migrated trought the muslim regions and served as either mercenaries or autonomosly invaded and settled anatolia , after manziquert it got real serious. They would either force the local populations to flee or if they were opressed or enslaved with turkic men taking by force greek or armenian wives or put them in harems. the males children or adults were killed or Enslaved. By the times that the turks conquered western anatolia the natives had nowhere to run, that's why the turks from western turkey have só many greek/anatolian blood.
Also, we forget the Kipchaks and the Cumans who were Christian Turks that settled in the area way before the Seljuks. You are right, Anatolian Turks are maybe 10% Turkic. Their ethnicity is closer to Kurds, Persians and Armenians.
Fucking liar, check the gedmatch autosomal and y-dna results of Anatolian Turks. They are mostly N, R1a-z93, J2a(Central Asian Sub-branch). They are married with native anatolian girls. Also in the gedmatch most Turks get results like 45-55% Central Asian and the rest is Native Anatolian.
Thanks for exploring Armenian history which is thousands of years old Armenia appears on the oldest clay tablet map of the world the Babylonian map of the world. PS a lot of Byzantine rulers and people of influence in the Eastern Roman Empire were Armenian by birth.
Im armenian and I believe my ancestors before getting dragged out of Nakhichevan came from Ciclia. I hope my future generation will one day live on this land again
In a 2500y old map you will find a handful of states that still exist, one being Armenia. Even the mighty Persian Empire got arabasised but not Armenia(!).
For those curious, Brachamios was indeed Armenian and the real family name is Varazhnuni. Lots of Byzantine names are mangled Armenian (basically Armenian names reimagined/pronounced in Greek manner), like the emperor John Tzimiskes is really Chemeshkik (little-boot in Armenian)

BirÖlürBinDirilir - 𐱅𐰇𐰼𐰜! Ahhahahah, was that a joke?)))
Urartu was an old kingdom, and, from what I understood it was some sort of Indo-European. Still unsure if it was Iranic or proto-Armenian or of the extinct Anatolian branch or an extinct single-language branch.
Amazing, well developed, well edited, well narrated, well researched video. Awesome work!
OMG, this was marvelous! Thank you so much!

Essentials picked... Brilliant work! Thank you for your work from today's Armenia!
The brutality and religious intolerance of the Byzantines was responsible in part for the successes of Islam in the Eastern Empire.
Completely agree with you. Armenia was a buffer zone between Muslems and Byzantines at that time. Armenia was already fighting in the east and Byzantines thought the moment is right to attack them from behind and capture Ani and turn Armenians into Greeks...Well, we know what happened next...
armenians think about yours origin ! love you country !
I definitely want to visit Armenia and Georgia, I believe these countries have some of the most beautiful natural scenery , and the people seem to be very welcoming, and nice.
You are more than welcome my friend to Armenia 🙏💜🪐

Age of Empires II has a new Armenian campaign about Thoros the Great of Cilician Armenia! This is why I have been listening!
Wonderful. Thank you for a very informative video.
didn't know that armenia still existed as a nation until i looked it up in the map some while ago, i always thought that the armenians were destroyed by the ottomans once and for all, especially after the genocide of the 20th century. i should read more to find out how the medieval aremenian kingdom has transitioned to give the modern armenian state.
I'm a history buff, passionate by the Crusades and yet... I learn so much by watching your great videos
That was a gripping story. Epic.
Lords of the Mountains! ❤️
Oh yes.. love the learning the history of these places I've never heard of before.
This was great, knew nothing about it. I love when people make little kingdoms for themselves. Even more so when they get exiled or they have to migrate or something and they manage to do it anyway.
Just beautiful
Thank you for your hard work, this video was awesome!! :)
This is great public service. Thank you
And, the more one digs into the un-falsified ancient history of the Armenians, the more they'll understand who the 'Hittites' were & what is meant by 'Lords of the Mountains'.
Great video! Keep up the good work!
I lived in the area for over 5 years. Thank you for this video.
Wonderful video. Thanks for sharing 😍❤️
Just wow
This is apart of history unknown
Thanks alot 🙏
We appreciate your work.
I wanted to do a trip but did not know a destination - seriously, I found it thanks to your video 👌🏽
Armenian nationalism levels increase...
Whats wrong with nationalism? Its fascism and communism you gotta worry about.
@Dr. Kevorkian Facism is like the state of Turkey, what good comes from such a radical ideology?
@Ronald McDonalds Lmao, wow that was a good one, a Turk called himself an Anatolian. If we Armenians aren't the ancient Antolians, then who the fuck are you?

Who know which is the oldest City existing on planet at this momemt ?
YEREVAN ,Capital of Armenia .
Yerevan is ONE of the oldest cities only 2800 years old
@@kingleovilusignan8169
The oldest just 150 years before Rome
The oldest capital bro.
Many olld city in Israel and Palestine, and Damascus and mosul are older.
@@agusbenzaenuri5881
Yes the oldest standing city is Damascus (Syria) and after that its Yervan (yerepouni)
I've done my national service at that region. I've watched Sis castle lots of time. It was a pure pleasure to be there... Thanks for mention, it worth;)
Btw, seljuk population did not pour onto anatolia.
Alexis Dias cool story bro :))))
Evidence?
Thank you!
God's blessings for my people of Armenia and our country for thousands of years to come.

Thanks for exploring Armenian history which is thousands of years old Armenia appears on the oldest clay tablet map of the world the Babylonian map of the world.
PS a lot of Byzantine rulers and people of influence in the Eastern Roman Empire were Armenian by birth.

Armenians have not been safe ever since seljuk Turks walked into the Anatoli till now
Im armenian and I believe my ancestors before getting dragged out of Nakhichevan came from Ciclia. I hope my future generation will one day live on this land again
In a 2500y old map you will find a handful of states that still exist, one being Armenia. Even the mighty Persian Empire got arabasised but not Armenia(!).
ARMENIYA GOD BLESS YOU
Heck yes!
Thanks buddy 👍
13:55 Is 'Rome' another name for 'Rûm'?
Armenia + Artsakh
The region and the recorded history would have been so much more peaceful had the Turks been pushed back and out.
