yeah the flamethrower effects look so good now, i remember when catalyst released their flamethrower/whips update i was hoping they would also add these vfx style to base calamity glad they did!
I hope it’s still as good at annihilating the brimstone hearts. I just crafted that weapon yesterday and it excels at the Scal fight, fingers crossed it’s just as good
I just beat Scal with it, safe to say it is still super good, in fact, this was my first time beating her solo in my revengeance ranger world. Except I actually somehow beat her in death. For some reason, the difficulty was in death, and I didn't know until I saw her drop Gael's Greatsword lol.

The only thing i'm upset about the new muramasa is the range, I love the rest of it. Maybe it needed a range decrase but I think they went too far with it.

Gotta love bosses physically designed to glue themselves to the edges of the screen! Artpollo, on the other hand, might go smoother despite Mura’s range loss because it’s stronger and never reached them anyway.

As much as I've always wanted the Murasama to get reworked similar to this in order for it to feel more like true melee, I will admit the tier it's in now kinda is meh. Don't get me wrong, I love true melee, but it's not affected by melee speed, and it was great at dealing with the hearts in Calamitas' fight. But hey at least it's another option rather than "haha funny The Enforcer"

I hope next update they do some balance changes with vanilla terraria stuff. Gold, platinum, and crimson/demonite is way too op to be pre-DOG. The most natural progression is being able to use gold tier and evil bar tier at least until DOG is beaten, and hell stone after yharon.

Sure the Murasama's damage per hit has been decreased from 3,001 to 2,222, but it seems to land 3 hits in the time it would've previously landed 2, and if I'm not mistaken, the 3rd hit deals double damage, so it's DPS actually increased from 9,003 to 13,332 (before taking Critical hits into account. I know the previous version had a 50% Crit chance, raising the average DPS to ~13,505, but even if its crit chance was decreased to the standard 4% (which I highly doubt), it would still be an increase to ~13,864.) The biggest nerf is the decreased size, but this corresponds to a huge buff: Making it usable post-DoG instead of post-Yharon. If anything, with the actually increased DPS, I'd actually consider this a buff overall. I've noticed in a Calamity True Melee playthrough (tModLoader 1.3) that Murasama actually deals very similar DPS to The Enforcer, with the main advantage Murasama has being its far greater reach.

It would be great if calamity added charged attacks to the murasama like the ones Sam can do in MGRR (for example dash and hold, which is an attack that Sam does by launching a sling of cuts) and for the blows to work sequentially but I guess it's difficult, I mean 1 click one draw, 2 click draw and follow-up cut etc, how hack and slash are played

There is only 2 flamethrowers in actually care about in there which are halleys inferno and the photoviserator both received very nice qol updates, and this update makes flamethrower only run actually interesting
The ocean crest rework os actually really good. Before their was no reason to go for extended underwater breathing since you cam just breath underwater infinitely with the crest. Making most of the underwater breathing potions and accessories useless. But now they have an actual use.
well, you still used those for abyse cause everything there only extends your breath. however the bigger issue i had with the 2 crests was that they did the same thing: infinite breath.

Damage debuff was too far even if it had its past range it would be pretty much unused afterwards
