Most catapults use tension by winding ropes or other tensioning mechanisms, but this one uses an unreasonable amount of suspension stacked on top of each other and pulled back under tension. Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

You know what you must do, take this to excessive levels and just keep adding more and more suspension until you hit the complexity limit, how far can you throw an explosive?

@tomashtu Lag or break, either one. It looks like it was barely holding together as it is.
I feel like the problem with going to far would be more just getting it to pull back and release properly. There's already collision issues with this one, and a bit of variation, so adding more increases that variation, and makes even just drawing it much more difficult and time consuming, as the speed will have to be lowered on the draw even further. If suspension ever get some cleanup to make them behave more consistently, and remove it bending randomly at different points, like we saw in the video, then I think that going max size would be more viable. But I really just don't see it working well in Trailmakers. And I don't just say this from the videos, but from owning Trailmakers and having spent quite a bit of time messing with suspension in weird ways.

I feel like the only possible step after this is to make the OTHER cool-looking-tension-based-weapon, the ballista! Or, if you're feeling fancy, do the X-Ballista like the one in Hobbit! (Don't know how you would do this tho)

So he went and washed it in the local water fountain
And it was sparkling clean
So he flew to the tree and took the seeds
Which made him become the legendary birb to rule over all with his special seed

1:14 I love that I can look at your eyes and listen to your voice, and can tell *exactly* when this crab walking monstrosity started distracting you from your spiel. It's moments like this combined with your aversion to clickbait that are why I take you at your word and trust your creative integrity. You also have taste and class about your music, I'm sure there are plenty of people who wanted to see you play, but you wanted your music to be the star. You still made it a point to show us your hands on some strings, though, just enough to give us what we want.
I want to see your Metal Face. I used to know a 7 foot tall, 400 pound Native American who was the runt of his litter (confirmed, his family was all 8 foot and 500 to 600 pounds, met them.), and his hands were as broad as full size frying pans. He could hit chords that didn't exist from pinky to index finger, and play songs by sound, as in listen once and then just play it. The thing I remember the most about him, though, was his brutal Metal Face. I want to see *you* shredding a guitar, just once, as compared to the guitar being shredded. Might you tease your next new song with video of *you* hitting your stride?
Side note, but how much do you make if I listen to the song on paid Spotify? Would you get more revenue from the ads on RUclips? I can't buy, but I'll swing back around for another listen, and I'd like to know which way puts more pennies in your pocket, in your music's name.

This is pretty revolutionary. Scaling up and refining this machine as well as inventing new contraptions using this concept but on smaller and more specific with applications

This could be a cool Multiplayer Monday concept. I'd also love to see how this could be engineered with some logic to control distance and the angle. I know that's more of Kan's territory, but I think it could really make this amazing. As well as some way to have this be reloadable without a full reset. I know that's hard in Trailmaker's though, but could maybe be used then for some sort of 2v2 mobile catapult vehicle fight. XD

That's a very nice catapult, I'm surprised it held up as well as it did given how much TM doesn't like doing weird things with parts.
Suggestion: Let's keep the siege engines going with a ballista next. We'll work our way up to trebuchet. ;)

Sounds like you have a cool idea for a MM. You could build a castle and take turns seeing who can break it down past a certain level fastest.

Ok, I want a MM challenge like this in trailmakers. I mean, suspension catapult battle sounds amazing and very entertaining. Maybe you have to use it to destroy castle walls and a core. Last core standing wins. The core could have dynamite in it to confirm death.

Hey read this comment for build suggestion :
In trailmakers: Make a car that uses pistons to power itself. (By puting them at an angle that they push forward). Basically a car with no engine no thrusters and no other acceleration or boost. (Add a jump feature of you can [ I know you can ] ).
In Scrap mechanic: Try making a car that just bounces to travel using piston on 20 or more angle.
Wheel is used but the wheel must be attached with for piston with a cactus on top. (Basically a car that jumps around to travel like a kangaroo).
2. Can also try to make a battle bot that battles bots.🤖☠️🛠️🛠️
Scrap Mechanic Multiplayer: Build vehicles for each other. ( It should have steering should have atleast three wheels and engine hooked up with wheels, steering but no explosive and weapon. SHOULD MOVE EVEN IF A INCH IN A MINUTE BUT SHOULD MOVE. Rest ideas in my comments.

Trailmakers video idea:build a plane that drops sticky bombs onto other planes that explodes once it gets below a certain altitude
It’s the ghost block glitch. So basically when I copied your Fulton air lift, it stayed straight up pretty cool
Trailmakers multiplayer idea: hydrofoil or battle boat racing in the Grand Island Tour of Race island.
Hydrofoils can be tricky to get working well in a limited build time. I've built a few, but they take a lot of tweaking.
Just have a balancing system and it would be no problem.
New multiplayer Monday idea: Glider Launchers, hmmm?

i think a great idea would be to put a glider onto it and try to fine tune it to do stunts like in your "GLIDER" (aka horse for gliders) video.
Next time try to recreate "Doomba" from Scrap Mechanic series :) Can be also some other "AI" based car, which try to avoid you while purchasing :P

Okay I want I actually want another episode of trailmakers
How about making an extremely specialized boat/helicopter/car/plane/etc then trying to make it something else with a different purpose (Obviously boat to sub or sub to boat not included) BUT it still has to function as what it was originally.
(Ex: scientific research submarine to racing car)
The interesting part is how you combine them. Maybe the wheels extend out from the inside, or maybe they’re always out. Maybe the whole vehicle uses hinges and other (likely more sturdier) parts to make each ‘mode’ look completely different, or maybe it’s the same body throughout.
You always make great videos though, I only need to commit myself to watching the rest of the nomad series after I missed three episodes and kept going, “aw, but this is in the future. I can’t watch this or it won’t make sense!”
Well, if you include your music with it, instead of the "Suspension Slide" it could be called the "Catarinth Camber".
Tweak this a little. Make it lob up a cluster of TNT, like timed to release mid air and spread, and then also have an AA gun and shoot down as many as you can. AKA make your own base defense/base attack game with this. Bombard a base with a cluster bomb suspension catapult and defend said base with a fast firing AA turret/s. It could be a TMMM.

Now trail makers multiplayer siege weapons challenge (basically worms wmd in trail makers) last base standing.
Rules)
1) players can not leave their base but must stay at their base and the area immediately around it.
2) only explosives allowed (no guns)
3) drones (quad helicopter ect) are allowed only if unmanned
4) this is optional but the person whos gets destroyed first can choose to join one of the surviving players bases and help attack but the three prior rules still apply.
5) bases must be 10Wx10Lx10H *at least* and 20Wx20Lx10H *at most* and using anchors to hold them in place (a base that slides is destroyed)
6) bases are considered destroyed if more than 75% destroyed
7) weapons can be anything (except guns) as long as they can deliver explosives and don't require you to leave your base
8) if any map other than the testing map is used bases must have line of sight with each other
9) weapons should not be attached to the base, if it is then is the weapon gets destroyed you can not repair it as that will repair the base too (no cheating) this doesn't mean you have no weapon it just means you lose the advantages (if any) that provided and the weapon can be rebuilt beside the base.

Making the scrapmart product in the scrap mechanic
Idea: Build forts and battle (2v2), one person defends, one attacks
Really should set the detachable blocks for the hook to disintegrate
make a slingshot with this suspension technique. you coud sling boulders or planes/glider
Build a trap layer with multiple kinds of traps like spike traps and exploding traps, you have to include a new trap
Maybe you could try making a suspension powered balista next
What if you could make a crossbow with this, however I can see problems, like how the bolt should sit.
