ICELAND Reynisfjara, Reynisdrangar, Dyrholaey (Vik i Myrdal)

Reynisdrangar are basalt sea stacks located below Mount Reynisfjall near the village of Vík í Mýrdal in southern Iceland. It is framed by a black sand beach which was ranked in 1991 as one of the ten most beautiful non-tropical beaches in the world. In 2021 Reynisfjara was rated as the 6th best beach in the world.
Dyrhólaey ("door hill island"), formerly known to mariners as Cape Portland, is a small promontory located on the south coast of Iceland, not far from the village of Vík. It used to be an island of volcanic origin, also known by the Icelandic word eyja meaning island. The volcano erupted about 100,000 years ago during the Pleistocene. The peninsula has an elevation of 120 meters (390 ft), and the Dyrhólaey Lighthouse, built in 1927, is located at the top of the formation facing the sea.
