after thinking about it, hong kong island is probably the best island for a Racing game, a fresh map with a dense city and quiet jungles and costal villages.....
That'll be sick! But unfortunately, making a map is really time-consuming work, it takes an average of 2-3 years to make open world maps of that size with good detail.
I've been to Elba irl hahaha. That'd be sick to drive on roads I've been to irl. Also the beaches are incredibly beautiful and the backroads are awesome for exploring.
It should mean something that you and me came to the same conclusion 👀 I did my own research a few days ago and funny enough came to the same island! I was looking for a reasonable sized island, left hand drive, (right side traffic) a little bit tropical vibe, european island. Only downside I can think of is the island is pretty small from top to bottom that is. Atleast it looks like that on the map. Probably not bad tho. It has my vote for the next TDU with HKI island also included. I think this goes too far for a DLC that you mentioned, but who knows. KT is ambitious
yup for sure, possibly more likely as a sequel, though it all depends on how they lay out TDU SC. Maybe they pull a GTA5 and the game runs for 7 years with a massive graphic overhaul halfway through it's life and add a new map. Unsure tbh, but either way no rush ofc!
In TDU 1 you could measure your 0-100 acceleration and braking times and maybe some other info too. I hope they would add this small but fun detail. Hope you could notice KT about this feature.
I think madeira island is a very good island. It has a lot of terrain, mountain, plateau, city, highways, roads around the island. The land area is 741Km2, highest place is 1861m. It would awesome to drive in here. But I don't think kt racing would choose this location. The scale of the island is too big, and the terrain is too Complicated. I don't think they have the money, resource, and time to make this island.
I hope we could see later 2nd location, traveling to other island is so TDU. How long would it take for KT to make such map, I mean no rush, they could release it during 2nd last year or TDU SC lifespan or the last year
yeah it all depends on their plans for the TDU franchise once TDU SC is out, and also how much income the game generates. It would be nice to see a new map as DLC and see a much more prolonged life of TDU SC itself, or maybe they just save it for a sequel, who knows
I see few gameplay of TduSc and the traffic seems very light for Hong Kong Downtown. I hope they put traffic density in the settings Low-Medium-High- Because most of the fun are swimming between traffic and overtaken them .
That's already been covered. He said he has seen the game with beefed up traffic, and they have said that traffic is dependent on location/time. We just haven't been shown that system yet
With the original TDU, the fact the whole of Oahu was there was the "holy shit" factor in itself, then TDU2 was fun on Ibiza, but halfway through being told that I get Oahu on top of that was its "holy shit" moment as I walked in expecting just Ibiza. With SC I'm just happy to have TDU return and especially with how recent racing games have been disappointment after disappointment, adding a second island would be another "holy shit" moment for me as I'd already be happy with Hong Kong (I get strong Sleeping Dogs vibes, which is helpful for familiarity). I deeply hope for the best with Solar Crown in whatever the game delivers, it would certainly turn me away from FH5 if it's even as good as TDU2
Why wouldn’t they do some little maps ? Instead of doing a big island like ibiza, they can make Monaco for example, wich is very rich, with casinos, beachs, a lot of sun, and very famous for car lovers ! It’s way more little than Hong Kong island, it can be very fast to reproduce in a 1:1 scale. And they could add some others little maps.
I still hope some open world racing game does Tenerife and/or Gran Canaria eventually. If I could name another island that's a little less tropical but with a city with hilly roads and lots of highway straights, how about Montreal Island? They could even include the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve Formula 1 circuit, which is technically a public road (at least parts of it are, I think a couple of turns are closed off). I'd also love to see changing seasons with winter driving for which Montreal would be an appropriate venue. If I was going to predict a map expansion, I'm assuming they'd add Kowloon (maybe just up to the south part of the highway 9 loop if they're not doing the whole Kowloon peninsula) plus Tsing Yi, Lantau Island, and Chek Lap Kok (for the airport).
For Gran Canaria or Tenerife, I wouldn't expect anywhere close to every building to be modelled, I'd just want the road network and topography and maybe 200 or so stock buildings representative of buildings on the island plus a few dozen landmark buildings.
My dream is that one day my country (Costa Rica) would be as a map for a racing game, it would be awesome but idk how much time would take to develop 😉👍
Loll I remember when people were looking at islands in the discord server before we knew the map ,I actually went on this island too and liked it because it looked a lot like the BeamNG Italy map to me. Looks really nice, I hope we do actually get it in like 3 years
Before we start worrying about DLCs, let's hope for a solid launch next year. That's the most crucial phase these days. When the game is on a sound footing, we can think about additional content.
Seems like a nice location but considering they've spent 5 years on HKI, I doubt we'll see this as a DLC even with the 5 - 10 year lifespan. Plus how we getting there without an airport from HKI lol... A very long boat ride? Would be awesome for a sequel though, and the airport would mean that then in the sequel they can add a secondary dlc location.
you don't need an airport on HKI to create a transition to the other island, you can be creative, let's be honest here haha, especially with how rich the Radiant is. And yeah as I said in the video, more likely as a second island in a sequel, unless their plan is to have a longer life of TDU SC, and update the map halfway. Anyone's guess it depends on their actual plan with TDU SC. They could pull a Destiny franchise and uncap the level and as updates add, the level cap increases lmao that way a DLC island could be within the lifespan, hard to really ever know tbh but no rush into the situation anyway, maps gonna take 3/4 years to make anyway lmao, and imo they should keep HKI, would be a waste to throw away the island and only give one new island in a sequel leaving out HKI, and then a 2nd island comes in the game after that? (since as you said DLC isn't within reason)
@@TheAlexVII Mmm will be interesting to see what they do with tdusc down the road, but to me it seems silly to put so much effort into a map - which is significantly bigger than the base game - and only make it a DLC. And true forgot about keeping HKI for the sequel. Either way for now we haven't even explored HKI (okay you have lol) so let's focus on launch and see what happens.
@z3sty18 *paid DLC tbf, since it would come with a whole new world of content. Similar to expansion DLC for other games. It's basically getting the sequel for a more reduced price. and let me have some fun, I know TDU SC ain't release yet looool 😭😭
they'd have to make Kowloon to be able to travel to Lantau which at that point, it think doesn't make sense. There are other ways to be able to tie the two maps together by means of travel, I don't think they need to expand HKI to it's greater areas to be able to do so
nah not a chance, houses are a very time consuming thing to add, and imo even delaying the game SOLELY for houses is a silly thing to do. They will be coming post-launch I'm sure though, KT do listen to the feedback we give ;)
Am all for artistic license with making hiking routes into off-road paths. That said In part I don't think we need to stay in tropic/exotic islands potential, sure for the majority and the jet set life style simulation you want to but other biomes could be welcome as well. In a way I'm not against a fictional winter map/island location. I know most gamers don't like to race in the snow, but still can be a fun change up. Do think there is an potential inherent problem with going real irl scale to scale locations, it becomes much more sensitive to how interesting the roads are on the map. Which in part Ibiza sort of suffers from visually its more interesting than Oahu seeing it has more biomes as well. Oahu is all one color like 95% of the Island/map. I'm not sure I want to go down this rabbit hole again at looking Island potential....... still feel a bit burned on that. Even though I think Tenerife is still an Island of great potential to cruise about.
hahahaha yeah can't go too far in the rabbit hole again XD and some may disagree with the 'fictional creation' thing for sure, I guess it comes down to choosing the right location, I'm so happy we didn't get O'ahu for TDU SC again for the reason you mention, and also just cus we've seen that map not 3 times including TCM
Man TDUSC isn't even out yet and you have me wanting Elba Island as the next TDU map 😂 I've always wanted to see a primarily Mediterranean map in a modern open world racer.. take Medici from Just Cause 3 for example (even if that's an open world action game) I still personally think TDU2 should've only had Ibiza and not Oahu, as we probably could've had Ibiza be much more detailed and better done, plus Oahu just feels really copy and paste in a lot of places, at least in my opinion. No hate towards it though.
Just Cause was a good series man haha you brought some memories, and you have a fair enough point tbh, though I think even if they did detail it further, they probably wouldn't be able to optimise it either lmfaooo

I don't see a second island in Solar Crown's life, though in TDU SC2 we could get HKI and this island 🤣

Off topic of the map another feature they should add different light selections (hazard, lights & then bright)

this could be a dream
for sure!
They can develop a whole new map, details, add props and what not, or, copy and paste Ibiza. Just saying, ill luv to get ibiza back
They don’t own the assets to any previous TDU games so they’d have to make Ibiza from scratch unfortunately haha
i hope they make this map, that’d be sick

I feel like that isn't really 'drivable' if you get what I mean, I've been there a few times only for vacation tho
Elba would be sick. I'd be down with that.
