Last night I threw Route 66 against two guys. They we hard power throwers...both throwing shiny balls. I threw a new Pitch Black followed by a Summit I had hit with a 1500 pad...smoked them both. They are much better bowlers than me....but I didn't follow the crowd. And smoked them.
Surface is a double edged sword, and I wonder how many people actually understand why. Too high of a surface finish, you will lose ball action; surface grit too low, you get ball reaction, but the ball burns out all of it's kinetic energy before reaching the pins.
Different balls shine at different rates. It also depends on how much surface and how it was applied (spinner vs hand). Personally I hit my balls with surface when I clean them, which is after every set.
I'd recommend touching up surface after every 3 to 6 games. I generally hit mine every 3 games - because I generally use 1500 grit, so after 1½-2 games the ball will start to lose reaction.
Ok! I usually use 2000grit after about 3 games but like you said it starts losing reaction around the 2-3 game so then I change balls plus the lanes are breaking down a lot , so I’m going to do 2000 again before I go to summer league bowl

What pattern are they throwing?
How many games before you need to put a new surface on your ball 2-3 games?
