I had one of these on after my hip replacement, the incision site stayed clean, and is now almost invisible - 6 wks post-op.

The wound care I went to used one that looks much different than these. It holds the moisture in and caused the maceration and even more until a nickel-sized wound is now all over the front of my leg and the inside ankle and back of my leg now.
I will never go back there again. It was so painful to my sural nerve and moved to other nerves, that even oxycodone couldn't tame the pain. An Er nurse removed them, washed the wound by squirting sterile water thoroughly and gently rubbing a nonstick pad over it to catch the moisture. She dressed it with nonstick dressings and covered it with abd dressings with a net-like cotton sock to hold it in place. I went right to sleep after getting home and woke up with NO PAIN.. so thinking I must be allergic to silver cell. Trying to figure out what to do next. The other leg healed with just triple antibiotic salve, nonstick dressings, and the new tight-fitting Tubigrips, as I'm allergic to any compression socks. It worked on that leg. Hoping it works again on the right leg.

I would love to try the band aid one. I made my own and it's working well. Swelling and pain are down and its the second day. Can't wait for it to be gone!

Tap water in the wound?? Yikes. I wouldn't suggest that.
