I doubt that the armor hitboxes will be nearly this detailed given BSG's track-record. The torso colliders are box colliders (which leads to whacky hit detection), assuming they don't change it for this feature, they could easily just have it so that hits on the sides of the box colliders count as side hits (no armor), and the rest count as armor hits. Alternatively if they change the body colliders into capsule colliders then they could work the same way the head hit zones work, where the head collider is divided into zones, and helmets and components add protection to these zones rather than the armor itself having a hitbox. From the previews they shared the neck at least will get its own hitbox while currently it is part of the chest hitbox. If the hitboxes are actually detailed, then it will massively change the time to kill. Heavy armors will fall out of favour because even a GEN 4 will have lots of gaps, side plates (if done right) only protect a small portion of the sides. In my experience, the whole thing of skillfully aiming for gaps in the armor doesn't pan out most of the time because you spray someone down you're likely to bypass the armor with luck. Just with my mod I've had a lot of people rage/complain about it, so if BSG implements this properly then they're going to have a lot of backlash. It will come from both new players/bad players and sweaty streamers alike because it will level the playing field to the point that even with shitty ammo you can pretty kill someone no matter what armor they wear, and there will be a lot of luck involved in whether or not a round bypasses your plates or not. So you will have the sweaty shift+w players complaining it's all RNG and unskilled, and the ratty and bad players will complain that the armor they worked hard for does nothing. Another issue will be bots, it will be hard for BSG to tweak the AI so that they don't consistently aim or hit the gaps in the armor.
How prophetic, everyone dies instantly now, no matter what armor you have or what ammo you are shot with. Gone are the days of having to repair your armor or having to heal, because TTK is so low now that it is all or nothing. Armor doesn't do anything. :D
Yeah 100% agree. Welcome to war thunder where no armour is best armour. It's just better to play while assuming you have nothing on to protect you. If it ends up saving you great, but there's good odds it won't.
I don't even play tarkov anymore outside of single player... But for myself, and many others I know would have loved the BSG magic armor when we were deployed. As the saying went after ones first firefight where they froze up for a second.... Everybody wants to be gangster until it's time to do gangster sh*t.
When it is easy to die, people are more cautious. When it is difficult to die, people are more aggressive. I wouldn't expect "chads" to play more aggressively after the armor change. I watched your other video on desync, where you explained the issue of being able to push aggressively and still have the advantage. I very much understood how you felt about it, how it was less immersive and realistic. I personally think that this armor change would actually have a similar effect as fixing desync, and make the game one step closer to being a hardcore-tactical shooter. It would force players to play cautiously, and avoid getting caught with their armor gaps exposed. I really hope I'm not misunderstanding your words, but your words seem a bit contradictory. You say that exploiting desync to play aggressively is bad (which I agree), but then say in this video that more passive "rat" playstyles would make the game worse. Though I'm a little bit of a rat myself, so I might just be mishearing your words and taking offense :P
Chad will play even more aggressively and rely on dsync because the first shot will be even more important with the armour update. They cannot risk a single shot being taken by the player they are fighting. Yes exploiting dsync is bad imo, however, it will pay out even more with the armour update because everyone will be more fragile, so it will be even more useful. I don't like it personally but I have to recognize it exists and the fact it will be more vital than ever. I'm not anti rat or any play style, I have been all of them so I make fun of all of them. I was a w key Chad, a camping rat and the tacticool operator. It depends on my mood ;)
I think I understand what you're getting at; The armor change makes it harder to push, so "chads" are going to have to be hyper-aggressive to maintain their playstyle. I can see that happening, but at the same time I hope that prediction is incorrect haha.
The risk of being overly aggressive won't be worth it for the Chad. Once they bump into some of those rats with good aim they will quit the game or learn from it and slow down themselves.
there is the very slight chance that a regular player can misfire or crossfire at the ghost and get banned, unless they put the ghost in a spot no normal play could possibly fire into but that would be very obvious bait, even if its a one percent chance of this happening i wouldnt take the risk as a developer
i thought it was just putting plates on top of the regular armor just like irl vests like lets say sideline defense they have a body armor that protects everything and then on top of that u can add a plate for MORE protection so idk what ur talking abt saying you'll be more vulnerable it will be the same exact armor and protected areas but if u want u can add additional plates to the front for me protection
NOPE. trooper, slick will be open on sides. they are exclusevely plate carries, i made the distinction very clearly. armor will no longer cover all the area it did before. before you could have a slick will all your torso covered. now it only protects where the plate actually is...
Full coverage armors like gen4 full kit and or plate carriers with side plates and or large plates like the russian ratnik will become much more desirable,,, wearing plates like the hex or slick or trooper, you dont need to be more accurate or faster all you have to do face your enemy directly and your organs are covered, with this system all they need to do is make more torso hitboxes for heat and lung shots so a grasing shot through part of your chest without organs will only do 1/3rd the ammos damage
Yeah, I don't think we will get those organ hitboxes. Seriously I believe it will just be a new hitbox on top of the old ones. But we will see in the coming months.
I mean rips were already a bit pricey while slick prices are going straight to the ground, probably cheaper than a press vest level 3 that has significantly more coverage.
