MAVERiC Celebrates the Art of Interactive Storytelling for Comicon

MAVERiC studio made its inaugural SD Comicon appearance this year with the help of UC San Diego Art Power’s Science of Story experience at the incredible Park & Market venue in Downtown San Diego. Under the fireworks and drone shows that lit the skies with renewed celebration, the MAVERiC Studio team and Origami Air Co proudly celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons with author and game designer Matt Forbeck, and his son Marty for their original work ‘Shotgun’s & Sorcery’ in full XR immersion!
The event culminated in an Actual Play event, celebrating the pioneering vision of Southern California Creators ‘Critical Role’ and the incredible market that has developed in this innovative industry! Performance artists took to the stage in a first-ever binational production of ‘Shotguns & Sorcery: Tin John’ a musical experience!
For a full day MAVERiC studio brought to life the steampunk alleys and fantastic characters of ‘Dragon City’, complete with a Triton Bookstore provided ‘Goblin Market’ of goodies from across the multiverse. Together with Good+Bar, the event culminated in a Sober Speakeasy, celebrating the 50 years of community building Role Playing Games have provided.
Matt Forbeck is an award-winning and New York Times-bestselling author and game designer with over thirty-five novels and countless games published to date. His projects have won a Peabody Award, a Scribe Award, and numerous ENnies and Origins Awards. He is also the president of the Diana Jones Award Foundation, which celebrates excellence in gaming.
