Sweet package from BVD . Armoured Angel were Thrash/Death pioneers back in the day in my home town of Canberra , there live shows were brutal compared to most other bands at the time . Lucy worked at the iconic 'Impact Records' in the city many moons ago where 80% of my collection was purchased thanks to him importing heaps of LPs that were hard to get in Australia at the time . FYI in Australia we do things the correct way ..... re - the date ..... for example 12th of December 2024 .... 12.20.2024 lol ... cheers Big Al 😉
I suspected y'all wrote the dates backwards LOL j/k Cool story about getting lots of your records from the store where Lucy was stocking the imports. I wrote to him in the late 90s and bought a copy of 'Angel of the Sixth order' from him plus his last longsleeve 'Crucifiction' shirt, which is still the coolest shirt I've ever owned. He wrote a nice letter on a gig flier that he included in the pkg. I later got Jeff Wagner, the Metal Maniaca editor, into AA and helped him contact Lucy. Jeff did a nice write-up on the band in Maniacs but I think it was printed shortly after the band broke up.
Hobbs´ Angel Of Death has three studio albums out and a couple of demo collections. There´s also a vinyl version for the Tyrus demos. My old band once supported Hobbs in the early 2000s and I had the chance to meet Peter (R.I.P.). Slaughter Lord became "famous" because At The Gates covered their song "Legions" for the Japanese "Slaughter of the Soul" CD. Members of the band later appeared in Mortal Sin. I just realized I have the OG cassette of Light Force´s second demo. Scott Waters released their first demo on LP years ago.
Somehow I just knew that you had played with at least some of these Australian bands! LOL I didn't know about that AtG cover of SLaughterLord. I've started looking at Discogs to see what some of these bands released and I'm glad there are reissues/collections of at least some of their material.
That wartooth album sounds interesting I've always found there's a very distinct approach that the Australians take when it comes their metal that just doesn't sound like anywhere else!
I knew you would be the perfect person to dig right into all of these and do lots of homework for them with trying to add set lists, band member swapping etc. Glad you like most of it inc the more modern stuff. Harlott and Wartooth are a couple of favourites of mine and I’m lucky to have seen Harlott live many times and I know Ando from Wartooth really well. Rampage Veil of Mourn has had a reissue last couple of years so you should be able to find that one easily. OG copies are hard to find. Awesome vid mate. Cheers 🍻

Great stuff. That’s a cool score of cdrs. You make some smart observations about Metal Archives. I do think that your Australian accent needs a little bit of work, but that’s ok. Cheers
A band called "Hobbs' Angel Of Death" sounds like Slayer...go figure. 🤪 I've always thought it morbidly amusing that Tom Araya worked as a respiratory therapist in his early days. I'm not sure if I want the singer of Angel Of Death inserting my respirator tube during my hour of need. EDIT: I listened to Hobbs' song "Jack The Ripper"...the Slayer connections are unmistakable.

Mortal sin did support metallica in 89. It was the first time they toured Australia and it was a big deal.
Thanks for confirming that!
the Sydney Metallica/MS show was my first ever gig - amazing show and being a newbie my neck was ruined for days
@@mendicantmedia Now THAT is a cool first gig!
The Aussie scene rock hard ,we have an eclected mix of Bands.
Agreed on all counts \m/

Good point Robert, Aussie bands do tend to have a distinct sound
Dying victims reissued Rampage on LP and CD

Tom is a guy who one could probably have a real conversation with. He always comes across as very down to earth and personable.
So Australia consisted of thrashers and Christers. And I guess in between would be the doomers. 🐨 🇦🇺 🦘
I'm sure there's a great joke there about a thrasher, a doomer, and a Christian walking into a bar, but I haven't figured out the punchline yet.
