- The Philippine Army (PA) has selected the Taurus T4 5.56 x 45mm automatic rifle from Brazilian arms manufacturer Taurus Armas, to fulfil a requirement for more than 12,000 new rifles.
Taurus Armas announced on 13 January 2021 that they were awarded the project to supply 12,412 new M4-type/AR-15 based rifles for the Philippine Army worth US$7.3 million, or around US$590.78 per unit.

it’s sad that COLT industries, one of the original makers of the M-16/M-4 series of rifles and carbines, has closed shop. i wonder if our military has chosen the gas piston operated action instead of the gas tube operated rotating bolt since direct gas impingement produces dirt directly to the bolt area and causes added fouling and cleaning…
The Brazilian armed forces don't use the T4, only police units.
And why they don't use it?? Is it because T4 is unreliable??
@@markraphvalerta4036 It probably has more to do with politics than reliability, the main guns used by the army are made by IMBEL, a state owned company.
Oohh I see.. because here in my country(Philippines) T4 is the main weapon of our Armed forces and even our national police, and Philippines is the first country who used Brazilian assault rifle. According to some military officers T4 is a nice assault rifle it's like M4 and Ar15
@@markraphvalerta4036 It gotta be, it is an AR-15, an already proven platform, so even though it is probably not as good as those fancy American ARs like Daniel Defense or Noveske, it is a good reliable gun.
