Thanks very much for taking the time to post an informative video. It is much appreciated. Is there any difference in using the starting clamp on the inside of the frame as opposed to the outside of the frame or is it just personal preference? Also did you ever secure a Wise Tensioner for your Prince Neos 1000 and how did it work out? Cheers!
Center clamps (fixed clamps), over time begin to bend and weaken when using them to start the mains in the manner shown here. In addition, the clamping power of a starting clamp is much better than that of a center clamp, and therefore, less likely to slip and damage the strings. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.
+drakulie thanks so much for the quick reply. I will try this on my babolat star 3 when I next string! :D. Ps: I think your posts on talk tennis are amazing :)
drakulie hi! So this works well even for slippery stiff polys? I never actually held a starting clamp in my hand and used it, but when i use a fixed clamp as starter it needs to be very tight for not the string to slip om first tension pull. Does the starting clamp have some sort of coathing on it since it seems so easy to clamp in your hands but can hold a string so well?
Greetings Drakulie. I've always wondered what TW posters sounded like in real life. I'm mostly a reader there and rarely ever make posts as Robbie_1988. Anyway, nice machine mate.
@Robbie0415768067 Hey, Robbie! Thanks for the compliment about the machine ,,,,,,,My voice,,,,, I had a cold when I completed the video, but yeah, thats me. Cheers!
forgive me if i'm missing something, but why can't you just use one of the fixed clamps in the spot where you had the starting clamp to begin stringing?
Because the fixed clamps cannot slide horizontally or across the face of the racket, only vertically. Also, the rotational radius of the clamps only serve one horizontal half of the racket. Thus there is only one fixed clamp available to hold the tension of the first main of the racket.
Best starting mains video out there. Good work and thank you!

Hiya just wondering if you still think this is a good way to start stringing? Thanks :D
+TheUKFireFox absolutely. I start all string jobs this way (other than racquetball and wood frames. Thanks!!

@tennisman917 Hello,,,,I'm aware there are several ways to start the mains with a starting clamp. Care to share which one you are referring to?
Greetings Drakulie.
