@@kimbee5792 I don't doubt that it happened. I just think this is the media tricking you. Something called the improbability principle says we should expect coincidences to happen routinely.
We see a headline like this any time there's the appearance someone dumped stock because of Insider information.
You have to expect that a certain percentage of the time it will appear like this. On the other hand, if you think about it you have to also expect there's a kind of inadvertent Insider information sometimes.
You can kind of have Insider information if you just follow what's going on. You're more of an Insider if you follow what's going on. And if you're the spouse of someone in congress, you tend to know what's going on. Is it something diabolical? You can think of it that way if you are inclined to. Not me, though. It would take deliberate effort for me to shift to being cynical like that.
It's the same whether it's a Democrat or a republican. It seems kind of impossible to me that the spouse of someone in Congress wouldn't have some Insider information. Even if they tried to avoid it.

There are no coincidences in the marketplace.
Dumping or buying stocks just before a major shift in the market is a coincidence, but doing it on a continuing basis every time there is a major shift in the market is insider trading.

I'm just asking because it's very plausible that he sold Visa because it had fallen from recent(to his trade) highs of around 290. The probe into VISA had been public knowledge since January, at least from my recollection, and the lawsuit was announced almost 3 months after he sold.

But the point I was making is that there isn't nearly enough information in this video to know one way or the other if it was. The video is simply raising alarm over something that doesn't even really look like Insider trading.

As a cpa, if you’re an auditor in public accounting you have to report ALL shares/holding of both you, your spouse and independents.. all of them are seen as yours for independence purposes and is tracked 24/7 to ensure there is absolutely no independence impairing relationships.. you even have to report your bank accounts, car insurance, etc.
