      Are there anything that one can do to alleviate the discomfort of having a NG tube in for 10 days?

    Hi! I believe that the current EBP is to measure to between the xiphoid process and the umbilicus. If we purchase the cards and membership, and new EBP comes out, will we be notified?

    Hello when inserting the Naso-gastric tube, can I give the patient any drink (I have in mind carbonated drinks or juices) or it has to be strictly water?

    You absolutely can, and in many cases SHOULD, place an NGT to suction before X-ray confirmation. You shouldn’t put anything down it, but suction is okay and sometimes necessary. Not using suction is a myth that needs to die within nursing.

    • @LevelUpRN
      @LevelUpRN  Год назад +3

      As an ER/trauma nurse, I 100% hear you! But we do have to teach what will be taught for nursing school exams and on the NCLEX, which still say that NGT shouldn't be used (in or out) until XR to confirm. But you're completely right, that nursing theory and practice are wildly different! --Meris :)

    hello . can you please tell me why NG is provide from nose , not from oral ?

    • @melissadeluna9139
      @melissadeluna9139 4 месяца назад

      NG is only nasal. There is nothing through mouth . Only thing is air for intubation
