    On the topic of Thing cards, I loved the animations for each of them. From a sentient plunger to the disco ball's dance party, I feel they added a lot of personality to the game.

      BluJaga you're very right- the majority of them were super well done, unique and highly amusing. I appreciate the effort that went into the super-detailed Cat-o-Luck animation or the hilarious Piggy Bank & Balloons especially: thanks for bringing these to further attention! :)

    Let's not forget the funny lines that the enemies have when and only when you fight them, making fights much more worth it so you can see what the enemies have to say. I don't think any RPG has done something like that, where the enemies make little side comments for the sole purpose of entertaining the player. If another RPG(s) has done it, I've never heard of it. The only issue with the side comments is that they get screwed over by Color Splash's gamepad-centric user interface that forces the player to look down at the screen and potentially miss the side comments unless they're looking back and forth from the game pad to the TV, anticipating that an enemy will say something funny. It kind of sucks that it was done that way and makes me wish that the game supported an alternate UI or something. Maybe in a Switch port (which I'd love to see! I'd love to play Color Splash wherever I'd want).

      I mean, Undertale does have the enemies talk in the middle of the battle, if that counts as another RPG which has done that

    You can always know where unpainted cards are if Kamek flips them over because the amount of paint required to colour them in is still shown. Taking advantage of this, I won against Kamek himself in like 2 turns using Big flower cards.
    So yeah, that renders the flipping thing even less of an issue.

    The battle system in this game had so much potential in my opinion, but was sorta poorly executed. I feel like paint could have totally been like an FP system, but they just didn't work it in well enough. I also very much enjoyed Kamek's magic playing a role in random battles. It made things fresh and unexpected. I mean, TTYD had random stage hazards, I think this is just fine... as long as it doesn't softlock the game.

    • @ThaneGaming
      @ThaneGaming  2 года назад +1

      Good comparison with TTYD's random stage hazards, I hadn't thought about that! I've since played through this game again and I do agree that the battle system has unexplored potential--I don't think what they came up with is terrible (and I even had fun with the mini-bosses) but I was very much just "putting up with" the mostly mediocre battles to experience the many positives outside of combat. The Origami King suffers from the same situation but was a little more successful in execution for me!
      I guess that just means I'm willing to trudge through "okay" gameplay if the writing & scenarios are enticing, and still consider them great games. Hence my love for titles like Chulip 😅

    2:34 In the older games I feel a loss when not battling, I skipped so many battles in 64, it made the final boss significgantly harder, in CS, I feel like little happened, which, I guess is good when you don't feel like it?
    3:59 Never mind them unless they're unique, and, while I knew their weaknesses beforehand, what's going to stop someone for skipping the balloons if they can't see them in Birdo's concert, or use them out of curiosity before Ludwig? I know you can get refills and hints, but it's annoying backtracking.
    4:07 I think I prefer some personalities over PJ, but overall, I think I prefer PJ's, but some personalitys could be combined, like Lemmy's immaturity and stardom.
    4:44 The disco ball IMO was easy to miss, but the Bro hints are cool.
    5:21 There was a HUGE lack of minibosses, they even forgot Big Blooper, which would be a perfect miniboss for the Violet Isles.
    6:21 I don't try to always remember Kamek, and, while yes, it's easy to memorize what you see, will they be useful? What happens if you lose a necessary card (You pick something in the middle, which you won't remember) before a boss battle? Or lose a very rare one, that took a long time to get? While you explain that Kamek isn't a major problem, does it excuse him? Or make him a good mechanic?
    Overall... It was a pretty decent video, it gets its points across without insulting the fans, even sympathizing with them, which is a plus.

    • @ThaneGaming
      @ThaneGaming  7 лет назад +1

      Hey you're the best for taking the time for critique. I appreciate all of your points.
      1) I did miss a required Thing later in the game (ice pick and bottle opener found in the Colosseum), but I didn't mind a bit of backtracking to get the cards or re-squeeze a Thing because the overworld map makes it quick. There's plenty to do in Port Prisma that it never feels like a trip solely for that (restock basic cards, check for hints, Piper sidequest, newspaper Toad).
      2) The Koopalings did have personality in Paper Jam which I should have mentioned here- the major reworking of characters (like Morton) is all a matter of preference. Some did get more screen-time than others in both games.
      3) I didn't think there was a huge lack of minibosses, just not as many as the other games. I was expecting Big Blooper too!
      4) Again I didn't mind going back to the hub for a new Thing card, so even if I did lose a necessary card it wouldn't be a huge issue with the way the game is structured (map select screen). I suppose I didn't elaborate on my personal opinion of Kamek overall: I'm indifferent about the inclusion. It can be a nice break to standard battles, but I don't think it's a good mechanic- so yes, I'd only excuse him.
      Thanks again, your words are super helpful and I love your taking the time in writing this out :)

    • @rendumguy7596
      @rendumguy7596 7 лет назад +1

      You're welcome. I usually do this to most videos I come across now.
      1) I almost always went back to Piper. I felt the Golden Colloseum was hard to navigate, and, I WAS going to get the Things on my first run, but it didn't look like I'd be able to quickly get back, as I wanted to really fight Iggy.
      2) TBH, I've grown used to them.
      3) Well, comparing it to any other game in the series, or the 1st 2 Mario and Luigis. We had, Big Spiny, Big Podoboo, Petea, and... Shy Ninja? It has boss music.

    • @ThaneGaming
      @ThaneGaming  7 лет назад +1

      That's awesome, I hope others appreciate as much as I do. I had to trek through the coliseum quite a few times and got lost in the process so I'm with you there, but the "bone" Shy Guy makes it clear that's what's needed and there's even one to squeeze in the level.
      I get what you're saying with the mid-bosses. There aren't many in this game on paper (didn't do that on purpose I swear), especially when comparing it to the series you mentioned- but I suppose lots of the “lesser” enemies had a grander feel in presentation to alleviate the issue. The Sledge Bro at the Dark Bloo in, the circus brigade right before Lemmy’s fight- even the hoard of enemies fought after Mario stole their washing machine. These are all situational encounters that felt unique, sort of what encompasses a “mid-boss” to me anyway.

    • @rendumguy7596
      @rendumguy7596 7 лет назад +1

      ThaneGaming The Washer Guys and the Circus Brigade? Maybe. But the Sledge Bro can be oneshotted, and a fight with miniboss music (The Shy Ninja) it takes 2 hits with a tail to beat him, you will probably have wasted these and "Things".

    I kinda wish that the Koopalings were mid-bosses and took a back - seat to some new characters, or returning faces from previous games. Perhaps Hooktail could've turned into Bonetail after her defeat in TTYD and be the boss of Crimson Tower.
    And I kinda wish instead if hammer scraps, we had actuall experience points and could upgrade our attacks (Also make the attacks work the same as equippable badges), making the jump and hammer default attacks.
    The only attacks that should be one time use are thing cards.

    • @ThaneGaming
      @ThaneGaming  7 лет назад +1

      Paper-Guy I don't think any of the fans would ever dislike the idea of new characters, especially returning ones already established to be popular. I want the same, Koopaling fights were fun but yeah they are overdone like a lot of modern Mario conventions. I would agree on the Thing cards only but I really liked Paper Jam's handling of them- keep jump and hammer as permanent attacks, maybe hammer scraps if they were better utilized. I have no idea how the next Paper Mario is going to go, and the fan base is so split at this point...

    • @bro-bt5sc
      @bro-bt5sc 7 лет назад +1

      ThaneGaming Yeah. I like this game alot, but it's the little things like that that really prevent is from being a great experience. I wish alot of series conventions were brought back aswell like the Pit of 100 Trials. I also wish Partners were her too. The could function as enemy cards that permanently stay in you deck.
      But yeah, I do agree that if this game handled things like Paper Jam, it would be alot better, and perhaps the fans would like it.
      I have no idea where the future if the franchise is headed. But I don't think this is the right way to go.

    I honestly feel that the Battle system is blown way out of proportion. just because it's Sticker Star's battle system again, but slightly fixed. and as someone that barely played Sticker Star due to being visually disabled. It's very simple.
    The only complaints I have with it. is that the attacks are consumable and that I wish that the battle system was organized. For example, in the first 2 games. your jumps, hammers and Items are separate from each other. They could've made it like that. Instead of having the cards be stacked on top of each other.
    But other than that. I feel that Color SPlash is the 2nd most underrated Paper Mario game next to Super. I understand that it was the sequel most Paper Mario fans didn't ask for. but I still liked it. plus I'm one of the few Paper Mario fans that isn't having this nasty additude of "Paper Mario is dead" and stuff like that. I have a positive outlook on the future of the series.

    • @ThaneGaming
      @ThaneGaming  7 лет назад +2

      Jeremy Knight I'm with you! Yeah organization is certainly still an issue. It's tolerable, but settling on "tolerable" battle controls really can get in the way of enjoyment for some. I would have liked separate stacks as well, just as you said like the first two games and their jump/hammer commands. I'm glad you like the game otherwise! I'm also staying positive about the future, I don't think it's dead and I'm sure those same people will be playing the next iteration. If anything I can't wait to see what Intelligent Systems tries next :)

    • @jeremyknight9980
      @jeremyknight9980 7 лет назад +1

      I believe that next time they'll be going back to the original style. because what else can they try? (aside from Super Paper Mario 2) and to avoid another backlash from fans.

    • @ThaneGaming
      @ThaneGaming  7 лет назад +1

      Jeremy Knight that'd be a sigh of relief all around, I think you're right. Nintendo is pretty on-top of fan feedback, especially evidenced by this year's E3- visually if they plan to continue with the literal paper-craft gimmick (stickers, paint) I'm sure they can come up with something fun, but no way is the battle system staying in place after the controversy. I'd be down for Super Paper Mario 2 though it's probably best to appease the fans of the original two first as that's what the majority of the fan base wants to see return.

    • @jeremyknight9980
      @jeremyknight9980 7 лет назад +1

      Yeah, much to everyone's surprise. Nintendo actually listened to the Metroid fanbase and gave them Metroid Prime 4 and a official remake of Metroid 2 return of Samus.
      I dont see the Papercraft artstyle going anywhere really. especially since the art director who created the paper look for the series. is also behind the Papercraft look for Sticker Star and Color SPlash. but all that truly matters is that they have original characters, a new story and of course, the gameplay of 64 and TTYD.
      Although, I'd love to see a remake of 64 and TTYD in Color SPlash's artstyle. it could happen. since ALphaDream is remakeing Superstar Saga in Dream Team/Paper Jam's artstyle. I'm still a bit sad I won't be able to play that. but at least I still have the original game that I can play on my Game Boy Player.

    I have a story, I just bought a ton of cards and had 8 coins left, kamek got rid of my cards I had to flee. I had to beat the roshambo temples to get coins after enough cards I re-battled kamek and this time I had 200 something coins. Kamrk got rid of my cards and the first thing I got out of the battle spin was a replica compass which if you did makes you run away from the battle and I lost all my cards again. I farmed coins at the roshambo temples than with enough cards battled him for the 3rd time I beat him and I ended up losing over 150 cards I will forever hate kamek the card stealer.😡😡😡
    This took a long time to wright by the way

    • @ThaneGaming
      @ThaneGaming  7 лет назад

      That is frustrating, I'm sorry it happened to you. Getting the compass replica from Battle Spin was entirely unlucky and losing over 150 cards? That can't be fun. The only thing you could have done was load your last save (before you fought Kamek for the first time) and be prepared with coins but anyone would admit that's not good design.

      You can get the huge hurlhammer back again fairly easilly if you used it here- but I'll say that any time a player decides resetting the game is the best solution in a situation that isn't their fault, it's probably time to re-evaluate the mechanic. I'm sorry this happened to you.

    I have no issue with people loving Color Splash, we all have different opinions. However, the first 3 (yes I include Super) for me were just so much better it's not even funny. Color Splash looks nice and has great writing, but the battle system drives me up the wall - I tried to play it recently (for the 3rd time, each time I never get far) and yet again, I stopped after Morton. It's a chore to play, that is my main issue with it. The absolute slowness of the battle system as well as forcing the Wii U Gamepad into the gameplay just make everything so damn slow and uninspired. I will say however, I don't get why people hate the Paper aesthetic, I think that part is charming. In that same way, I also hate how people claim "oh you only hate Color Splash because it's difference" - absolute rubbish, I love Super Paper Mario, and that's probably the most different the series has ever been- yet it still manages to tell an excellent story and has a lot of diverse chapters. All in all, it's a good video, but I just disagree with the battle system. I really hope Origami King is a great game - up until then though, I'll be playing Bug Fables.

    02:38 That is indeed an idea that sounds like it would fix SS' battle problems, but isn't implemented well at all. You can avoid battling enemies, miss out on a majority of hammer scraps and still get through the game with a maximum paint capacity of 200 without any problems.
    The paint enemies drop doesn't fix anything since that's exactly the paint you use up in battle. If you need peint for in the overworld, then you just whack some objects and you'll have enough paint in no time.
    As you said, it is indeed better than Sticker Star, though that does not make it good or fix the issue in the first place.
    10:45 Bowser was a total joke in this game. He wanted to have a rainbow shell? Seriously?! We went from stealing the Star Rod
    to grant his wishes and take over the kingdom to this? Why the hell was he in Port Prisma or even on Prism Island anyways?
    The Black Paint as a "character" was weak as well, as it's just your standard evil presence without any defining traits or a backstory.
    Not being able to use jump-attacks also seems like a major fault to me since it effectively prevents you from using about a third of your attacks, and I think for a final boss every possible attack in the game should be at your disposal.
    Painting cards in battle is pretty much useless. Why should I not paint something, it's not like I ever really run out of paint.
    The fact that the hint Toad in Port Prisma was necessary just proves that the system doesn't quite work. I think that every boss should be able to be defeated without any optional/missable item. That's like requiring a certain badge to beat a boss in the classic games.
    While the personalities of the Koopalings are good, it's not that much of a feat. After all the only real dialogue the Koopalings had was in M&L:PJB and I found them to be better in that game. I can't take them seriously in this game (as it is the case with most characters). They lack a deep motivation just giving up after being defeated when they clearly have the energy left to talk.
    The thing this system does worse than Sticker Star is that it takes much longer to choose your attack.

    • @ThaneGaming
      @ThaneGaming  7 лет назад +2

      Hey thanks so much for commenting and giving some valid arguments! I love discussion so I'll try and respond to each point you've made accordingly.
      1) I wasn't trying to say that paint hammer upgrades were a good mechanic or that they fix the issues of the battle system overall, I was just trying to make the point that it is some improvement over Sticker Star (which you did point out)- and I hope that people recognize this progress.
      2) I think this is preference- N64 Paper Mario is my favorite in the series, and while I agree that his presence is much more intimidating there, I wouldn't want another PM game with Bowser simply being evil again. I feel Color Splash took his character in a direction appropriate for the tone of this game (silly but still threatening, like Super Paper Mario), and while the black paint wasn't a strong "character" in its own right, I don't think that was the point as its controlling of Bowser was the result of meddling around in something of higher power than him. The paint in this game is like a force of life- mixing these beings of creation caused dastardly consequences and I think it's a neat idea. I agree entirely with your stance on the removal of jump attacks for his fight- it was a strange choice.
      3) I don't think painting cards were useless- the "huge" basic cards required a lot of color, rendering 1-up cards very necessary towards the end of the game. I took the time to fill in the colorless spots of each level and only had to hunt for paint a couple of times, but in that duration I was reminded of paint management: it's a mechanic that's there and while it may not be the best, it does require planning for that 100%.
      4) The hint Toad works well for this game, and I feel that's the case because of the map selects screen. I had no problems with the Koopalings & their specific weaknesses, because before a Big Paint Star level (or right up until tackling the boss) I can simply fast travel to Port Prisma and check to see if I have everything. Going back to the hub area is nice anyway in case the player needs to fill up on basic cards or break before progressing. I wouldn't compare this to the original Paper Mario, because while that game had means for faster transportation, the entire world was connected and it'd take much longer to find the necessary badge.
      5) Yeah, the Koopaling's personalities aren't all so impressive- I suppose I was more enamored by the build-up and fight that proceeded it. I think liking their personas from Paper Jam more are a matter of preference though, as some characters (Morton the obvious example) are much different in Color Splash. I didn't get the impression that they gave up- each one fought until they were entirely sapped of color. They may have been able to talk, but they did in Paper Jam before disappearing too.
      6) That's probably the only aspect one could argue Sticker Star does better, though (in my opinion) the time saved is hardly worth noting compared to the improvements.
      Thank you again for typing all of this out, I respect your opinions and you've made some great arguments as I stated above :)

    • @ThaneGaming
      @ThaneGaming  7 лет назад

      By the way, you've played Paper Jam and seemed to like it- how did you feel about the battle cards used there? Man, if we could get a new Paper Mario game that combines the traditional combat system with the cards similar to that in PJ, I feel so many fans would be happier. I loved everything about the addition in that game- they're optional yet add a ton of strategy, something that improves the already "deep" enemy encounters.

    • @DefinitivNichtSascha
      @DefinitivNichtSascha 7 лет назад +1

      ThaneGaming
      The battle cards were just a simple replacement for the badges. I get that they did that since the badges only worked with two brothers in battle so they needed to come up with something different, and it worked quite well.
      That being said I don't think that they should use this mechanic for another Paper Mario-game. You already get Star Power in those games and they're used for Special Moves using the Star Spirits/Crystal Stars. Adding this card system would make those things worth less, if you get what i'm trying to say.
      I also think that would be too OP in the Paper Mario-games. The enemies have a lot less health and Mario also does less damage so a card that increases attack power would make much more of an impact on the battle as it would in the Mario & Luigi-games.

    • @ThaneGaming
      @ThaneGaming  7 лет назад +1

      Totally get what you're saying- makes perfect sense and I can't disagree with that way of thinking! They could always tweak the battle cards to be more compatible with Paper Mario's "simplified" fighting system, but your mentioning of the already implemented special moves does sort of make the ordeal a bit pointless. I think every Paper Mario fan has seen more cards at this point than they'd like to anyways x)

    I think there is a lot of good things about Color Splash. The battle system just isn't one of them. It's definitely better than Color Splash, generally, but it still isn't really fun. But I also think it's not bad enough that it should prevent anyone from playing the game. If you enjoy Paper Mario's trademark crazy scenarios, this game has some really great adventures. With a better battle system, Color Splash could have been amazing rather than just ok.

    The fact that Kamek only having a really low chance to make battling impossible is beside the point. If there's a chance that something can completely break the game and force death, it's not OK to be put in. That's why troll levels in Mario Maker usually have anti-softlock mechanisms put in place, so you don't have to restart the level (especially after a checkpoint).

      I'm glad you have similar opinions, looking back I really did enjoy the game so it makes me happy others were willing to give it a chance. Color Splash sold poorly, and IMO that's good for the series because fans spoke with their wallets (hoping with all of my being that Intelligent Systems understands the needed direction)- but for what it is CS exceeds in a lot of areas and it's a great experience in its own right.

  • @imaginaryboy2000

    Wait...Color Splash looks, story wise, like a rip-off of Sticker Star.

    • @ThaneGaming
      @ThaneGaming  5 лет назад

      I mean... Sticker Star had next to no story. Color Splash is a little better in my opinion- I like the beginning setup (post-card sent to Mario with Toad drained of color, going to Prism Island to investigate and actually seeing how the Shy Guys are doing it is creepy).
      The "collect x amount of things" is in every Paper Mario game to date, so dismissing that the only thing it shares with Sticker Star is the uninteresting plot of Bowser as the villain, Peach kidnapped again- unfortunately bringing down both games. Color Splash gives Bowser a little more character (he doesn't even talk in SS!) so at least there's that.

    I guess u did not under stand the roshambo mini games...
    Talk to the toads out side The temple and they will give u hints on how to beat them (example: he only uses sharp objects) and when u Battle the wizards. When they say there name that's what card there gonna use (example: the rock wizard only uses rock) I don't see how u did not understand this concept! I'm only 11 and I understand the concept. ( for people that are gonna play paper Mario the trick is to TALK TO EVERYONE IN THE GAME) I like the Wendy battle as well (mostly the music)

      Super Star Gio Super Star Gio Have you beaten every temple? I speak with every character in this game multiple times for analytical reviews like this and I'm familiar that the Toads outside give you hints. However that is only for the first two combatants in a temple- there are no hints for the Rock Paper Wizards as I said (the Toads tell you "I have absolutely no idea what card the third-round opponent will use this time"). Most temples have some degree of RNG (random generating number) with the pre-Wizard combatants though every Wizard and the entirety of Roshambo Temple 8 is entirely luck based.

    @ThaneGaming, Oh, shut up dude. How dare you try to preach about why you can enjoy an objectively bad game. We don't dislike this game because "Nintendo is trying something new", it's the exact OPPOSITE. We hate this game because it seems to follow the exact same formula as Sticker Star, which, newsflash, was hated by pretty much everyone. You say you understand why people are so frustrated, but yet you go out of your way to defend the game? You can't have both. Also, it really shows how little you understand about the reason behind people's hate. We're complaining about the lack of story, the shitty gameplay, and most of all, the fact that Nintendo hasn't learned a damn thing after the utter train wreck that was Sticker Star.
    But let's go through more reasons as to why Color Splash is a bad game, shall we? Since you seem to defend the game to death, yet you magically claim that you somehow understand everyone's frustration.
    1) No EXP in battle. Meaning battles will be the same pointless bullshit Sticker Star gave us.
    2) No partners, meaning that we once again have nothing but a silent Mario for company during the entire game.
    3) All NPC's are generic, identical toads. So, once again, all unique Toads are being replaced with identical clones with no names, unique appearances, or personality whatsoever.
    4) A world map, which demonstrates the same kind of boring level design from Sticker Star, rather than the big, vibrant worlds PM64 and TTYD gave us.
    5)Bowser once again being the main villain, (and a very generic one at that).
    6) Heck, Nintendo even referred to Color Splash as an "Action Adventure", rather than an RPG. What more proof do you need that this game is objectively bad?
    And even with all those complaints, I still haven't even brought up my personal grievances with this game, like the boring paint mechanic, or the gimmicky graphics, but I'll save those for another time. Hopefully you see my point, and understand that our complaints regarding this game are more than objectively justified. And if you for some reason STILL would like to argue that I'm judging this based on "nothing", I'd certainly like to hear you try to justify that.

    • @ThaneGaming
      @ThaneGaming  6 лет назад +2

      I didn't even want to respond to this because of your opening line of "oh, shut up dude". Besides the tone, everything you wrote gives me a strong impression you either didn't watch my video at all, or simply heard what you wanted to hear. Your comment serves to argue points that no one's disagreeing with- it regurgitates every bad thing everyone's ever said about Sticker Star/Color Splash, and points that every fan of the series agrees with (myself included). This video is called "In Defense of Color Splash's Battle System". It is meant to look at and try to defend the combat specifically, and not to claim it's better (1:37 "the first two games have my favorite combat by far"). I made it as a talking point for the biggest reason people are turned away from Color Splash only, not to address every other little complaint people have discussed ad nauseam.
      In reference to your first and sixth bullet points, which are your sole comments on the battle system (and therefore the only ones appropriate here), I literally say at 2:09 "While I do agree with the complaints of Sticker Star’s purposeless battles and non-conventional puzzle-solving...". I know both Sticker Star and Color Splash have no EXP, so my purpose is to argue that Color Splash at least attempts to address this in some way with the introduction of Hammer Scraps. It's sad Nintendo has deviated the series from its RPG roots by calling it an Action Adventure, but again we know it's not a true RPG, we've known this since the moment the trailer launched. All I'm attempting to do is have others keep an open mind for what we did get.
      As for everything else, I know. For example, I know that all NPCs are "generic, identical Toads". I poke fun at this in the video at 1:16 when I use a generic Toad to summon "the collective complaints from series veterans"- referring to people like you and myself. I understand exactly why people dislike Sticker Star because I do myself! I'm a massive fan of the original trilogy of games, and didn't want to see Color Splash become more of the same. From the very beginning of my video- 0:33. I say, "After the massive step backwards that was Sticker Star, a low-key reveal of this new game didn’t seem to address any of the issues of the old one. This was to be a direct sequel in presentation and gameplay: fans were scared more than anything else that the series would never go back to the way it used to be."
      You claim "it really shows how little you understand about the reason behind people's hate". How? I address exactly your concern that Nintendo hasn't learned a thing, which you say is "most important at all".
      Not once in this video do I state I think people dislike the game because Nintendo's tying something new. Where are you getting that from? Why are you putting parenthesis around that and the word "nothing" at the end when you write "if you for some reason STILL would like to argue that I'm judging this based on "nothing"?" You make it seem as if I made this claim, which I never did. All opinions you brought up are objectively justified, and they're also my opinions. Check out my recent Paper Mario videos if you want a sense for just how passionate I am about the older games, or I could point you to comment sections for discussion on my immense dislike for the new direction this series went.

    • @crfstewarje
      @crfstewarje 6 лет назад +1

      @ThaneGaming, I did watch your video, but it doesn't mean I agree with your assessment as to *WHY* the battle system is good. In fact, it's objectively bad! What's the point of battling when leveling up is pointless? What would the devs have players slide their cards all the way just to use one damn card! My statements of Color Splash's battle system being are are objective. People can like bad things, and that is *clearly* the case with you. I mean, what the hell is the point of making this video if you are defending something that is *objectively bad* ? You address a defense of the battle system, yet you fail to explain what makes it good? Why is the battle system good!? Why do you like it!? Why??
      You then try to pathetically defend the generic toads. What happened to creative and unique enemies and characters in the Paper Mario games? You poking fun at it does not in ANY way defend how poor of a decision Intelligent systems made by rehashing Toads over and over again!! Also, I'm talking about COLOR SPLASH in this regard, NOT Stick Star. In fact, that is what I did mention in my previous post. Maybe if you actually read it all the way through, you would have understood that! Also, want to know why I said "it really shows how little you understand about why people hate the game"? Do you not understand what a contradiction is? Your entire argument isn't even some shitty rhetoric anymore, it's just a straight up "I'm right, don't argue with me".
      If you can't even muster up the intelligence to give a coherent response to my questions, at least have the decency to admit to it. You claim to understand the frustration of people, yet you *defend the battle system of Color Splash*. And you should know, that the battle system is one of the most hated aspects of Color Splash! Seriously!?? Your "points" are utter drivel, you spout this nonsense narrative that people have a right to be made yet somehow the battle system is good. Any moron with half a braincell would be able to tell this is just you sticking your head far up your own ass. And now you give me this attitude that I'M the one dragging this conversation down? It's obvious you're too fucking stupid to muster up any counterargument that even remotely bases itself on why the game is objectively bad. Next time at least have the fucking decency to admit that you just don't have any proper counterarguments, instead of this false bravado bullshit you're giving me.

      secretagentman i understand your point totally
      I dislike too the battle system, heck, i cant enjoy It
      But lets summarize the complaints of most paper Mario fans and people that i met that hadnt played another paper Mario Game and still disliked it
      You gain no exp per se and the Overabundance of paint causes that you dont need much battles at all
      All your attacks are consumables and if one use ( honestly attacks of limited uses should be reserved for incredibly strong attacks, not for all your moveset
      Ok the writing is charming, but kinda forgettable
      There is an abuse on the amounts of toads
      The plot is like paper
      Kinda flat
      And a small coment, all this obsession with making the world out of paper
      But the original paper Mario looked like drawings
      All in all, the problem isnt trying something new, it's that the changes are incredibly alienating
      Apparently the director thought that they couldn't use the system more, as It was stale or something, so maybe there's hope
