This was posted Aug. 14, my 76 birthday. I’m a survivor breast cancer for 22 years. My childhood friend, her birthday today, had stage 3 breast cancer surgery 6 or 7 years ago. We are both fine. Just wanted to send you our best wishes. We both just put fake boobs in our bra. I had pain under my arm from the lymph node retrieval the most. Hated the drain. I’m finding a lot of women choose not to wear anything and they are rocking their flat chest. Excellent filming.
Thank you so much for the encouragement! It's good to see long term survivors out there who can share that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I appreciate you!
I just found your videos. I'm having double mastectomy on November 12 (unless they can get me moved up) and I was looking for videos by ladies who have had the same surgery. I'm glad I found your video. A lot of the other ones I've seen made it look like a walk in the park. I so appreciate your honesty about the bumps in the road you had. I know this video is old. I wonder how you're doing now. Prayers for all of us who are going through this.
@Cheryl-t7b Hello Cheryl. I am on this journey also. I am scheduled for pre-op November 6 and surgery November 12 for me also. I pray all goes well for you. 🙏♥️
I have been breast cancer free for almost 15 years. I had a lumpectomy. Went through all the chemotherapy and radiation. Then I decided to have reconstructive surgery because I didn’t feel right with 1 so much smaller than the other. It was my decision my husband didn’t care one way or the other. After my reconstructive surgery my nipple was hanging down because of where they had to cut but my surgeon said it might be 10 surgeries or more and then the nipple may fall off anyway. I told him you lost me at 10 or more surgeries lol. Even to this day it bothers me but I am thankful that I am still here to see my husband and my kids and my 6 year old grandson. I’m praying for you and sending all the positive thoughts I can send. Just remember there is many people praying for you.
I know a little of what your feeling. I had my double mastectomy on March 14, 2023. I was scared leading up to mine too. But I asked God to take the scared away. And when I woke up on the morning of the surgery. I was so calm. My hubby couldn't believe it was me. I was joking with the nurses preparing me. I had a few hiccups before the surgery. Like I didn't know I was allergic to electrolytes. I was. Told them to give me just saline. The issues went away. Had to have a radioactive isotope inserted in my cancer breast. Then had to wait for an hour to get good pics for the surgeon. They didn't know going into surgery if my cancer had gone to my lymph nodes yet. After they knocked me out, they shot blue dye into me. That would show with the isotopes where the cancer was. I had to wait till the morning after the surgery to find out that I didn't have cancer in any lymph node. I have to say, the only thing that hurt was where the drain tubes were. And since I was cut from the left side where my back starts to the center of my chest. Then they left about 1 inch not cut. Then the right side that had the cancer I was cut from the center of my chest to the right side under my arm to where my back starts. I had pretty big boobs, and a lot if side boobage. So they had to get all the breast tissue. I didn't know that I would be cut more than half around me. That was a surprise. The front of my chest never really hurt. It was mostly numb. It's been 5 months since my surgery now. And there still is numb areas, some areas that tingle. Tightness. Etc. But I have to say, I'm 63, and I don't miss them. Since the surgery, I don't have all the back and neck pain I did before. I have embraced my flatness. In fact, I'm less self conscious now than when I had them. And for once men have been looking me in the eyes when they talk to me. Also not having to wear a bra has been great. Especially this summer. No prickly heat rash! I need to have another surgery to remove fat lumps and excess skin under my arms. They get rubbed by my arms and it's annoying and painful. Not really wanting to go through another surgery. Trying to prepare myself for that. I know you will get through this too. You've already had to do so much more than I have had to. Just do whatever you need to do for you. Cancer is scary. And I pray that nobody ever has to join this crappy club. Love from a fellow sister of the sisterhood of the traitorous tatas.
Sending prayers for your mental and physical health. My cousin had 4 daughters. One at 34 was diagnosed with breast CA The other 3 girls had the genetic test done. One tested positive. She at age 29 decided to have double mastectomy. She said she would rather live without worrying when she would come down with it. I think she was very brave. I know you are a very brave woman. We are not defined by our breast. You will get through this.
Hi, my name is Sheila, I just saw your post and I also have invasion lobular breast cancer. Mine was found in December 2020. I had a bilateral mastectomy on Feb 2021. I decided to do reconstruction. I had radiation but no chemo, and I take a hormone pill each day. I know,it,is scary, but honestly I had a good response. I hope all goes well with you!!!
Just came across your kitchen video and you have my dream kitchen..I'll be praying for you and your family .I pray 🙏 that you will have peace going into your surgery.may the Lord hold you up during this time . .
Thank you. I am feeling much better now. I am still doing PT to regain range of motion and to help with cording but so much better! Glad you are happy with your decision. I also think I will not do reconstruction. It’s just too much. I am not ready for that right now. Maybe not ever. We will see. For now I am content with things the way they are. ❤️
Hello, Julie. May God's perpetual light shine upon you and your family. You look absolutely wonderful and happy. Praying that your path forward is OK and not so hard on you. Praying the best for you. Darling grandchildren.
So happy to see you feeling a little better. We have the same type of cancer, the same stage and were diagnosed at the same time. I know so much of what you are going through, and I am amazed at your descriptions of the process because it is spot on. If you need to chat or vent, I am here for you. I just got my arms up enough today for the radiation mapping and you will too!!🌻K
Thank you for sharing. I am so sorry you are going through this also. Sometimes it seems nice to know that there are others going through the same thing but also it's awful to know that someone else is going through it too. I do not wish this disease on anyone. It takes so much away from you and leaves a heavy emotional toll. I am truly hoping that there is something better on the other side of this treatment plan. Please keep me posted on your journey. Best of luck.
You are an amazing woman❤Thinking of others during your cancer journey. Prayers for you and your Family to get thru this bump in the road. You are Brave, thank you for the update ❤️
Oh Julie, so glad to see you. I just checked your page last night to see if maybe I had missed an update. Hope you’re doing good and taking it one day at a time friend.
I have watched all your videos, but this is my first time commenting. I am so sorry for what you are going through. You have a lovely way about you. Love your family and your country life. Even the music you choose to play with your videos is heartwarming. God bless you and your loved ones as you go through this journey.
Bless you and your Family Julie. I pray you have a fast recovery. Radiation is gonna be a piece of cake after all you have been through. I currently have a sister and brother going through treatment and its hard on the family also. My Sis is 70 (Lung Cancer)and she did radiation very well. Brother is 64 (Voice box Cancer)doing 7 weeks of Chemo with radiation. He's pretty bad off. Stay strong and fight this with everything in you sweetheart. 🌻
Julie we love you❤ thanks so much coming on and explaining the pain the journey. We cry with you but at the end of video you were smiling. Keep us updated. Prayers for you my dear
Praying for speedy healthy recovery. I just went through with my sister for the last 18 months, diet, energy, awareness, strength of mind, and support from family, friends and community.
Im new here to your channel and I am sending you the very best juju and good vibes for a speedy recovery and finding your new normal. I also look forward to more content from your channel💗💗🎀
Sending you prayers from Dallas TX. My husband has multiple myeloma. I was searching RUclips and found your videos, "Keto for Cancer." Sending you our Love. This helps me a lot. My daughter-in-law also has to have breast surgery. My husband is preparing for Chemo... he's been hospitalized since June. Thank you for sharing. Love your family...the song nails it, "Don't rush me, I just want a little time" and your granddaughter like a sweet toddler turns the Mammau's head to dry her hair, and the dog fetches the stick in the water...a little more time... so precious.
What a beautiful homestead and family you have. I am so happy that you’re feeling better and you have such a beautiful soul. You’re courageous and strong and I thank you for sharing this journey with us.
So sorry that you were diagnosed with breast cancer. I hope you will heal quickly. A new subscriber and can't wait to watch more of your videos. You are in my prayers. Hugs!
The pain, the tightness in the chest, the drains and the emotions are all the pits! I tried to busy myself with things like your recipe project. It helped. You are prayed for daily!
Thank you for the update. This video helps me, I am a little behind you in my treatment. If all goes well, I will be having a bilateral mastectomy in November. Prayers and good wishes for your recovery and the rest of your treatments!
Hi Julie. You were on my mind the other day. Now I know why. I will be praying for you during your recovery. Please know you are just lovely regardless of your outward appearance. Be strong sweet lady.
You are doing great! You will be better and better! I too had lobular cancer last November and a double mastectomy with no reconstruction. Didn't want to deal with that. Can you maybe in a future video discuss if your yearly mammograms detected your cancer? Mine did but lobular is so hard to see its often missed till large. Im 58. Fortunately I didn't require chemo/radiation. I so relate to your pre-surgery anxiety about the surgery and its a very hard thing to come to terms with as a woman and that morning ride in the car to surgery reminded me so much of mine. But we do what we have to do. I was just here in my local community hospital and home the next day. They sent me home with 5 pain pills but I really wasn't in pain so didn't use them. But that crazy pins and needles nerve feelings , numbness, tightness, etc. is no fun thats for sure. Thank you so much for letting us know how you are doing. Everything will be ok.
Hi so happy to hear you are improving! I was also diagnosed with lobular carcinoma in my right breast, and had a mastectomy 7/26/23. I still have a drain that will hopefully be removed this week. I have not had chemo yet, and will meet with the oncologist the end of the month for recommended therapy. So scared of chemo, and the medication to tamoxifen. Radiation doesn't scare me as much. You are so strong to go through what you have been through, and I wish you the very best❤
Hi, just read your post today.. how are you? Is it ok if I ask you about your therapy after your mastectomy? Diagnosed recently with ILC, had double mastectomy 6 days ago.
So glad to see you posting and my heart was breaking for you during recovery but so glad to see in the end you are doing better! Praying for your continued recovery and the next steps.
Thank you so much for the update. I know it is tedious to produce them but we all are so very glad to know how you are doing and seeing how fabulous you look. It is an incredibly difficult road you are on but we all look forward to the video that says "I am cancer free." So many prayers for you and lots of love for your family Julie!!!
My surgery is wed May 1 2024 n ur video has made me feel so much better to know that I’m not the only one that feels that horrible horrible nerves my lymph nodes are coming out. I’m not sure what they found on you. I’m having a double mastectomy and also not sure about reconstructive surgery I’ll visit that down the line what scares me the most is going under. I just wanna go under and come right out but I love love that you put this up. I haven’t get the courage to Vlog my story.
I pray everything goes well for you. My mastectomy was May 2017. The surgery and recovery went well. I had never had major surgery before so it was scary thinking about it. So here are lots of virtual hugs for you. It’s hard. Our breasts are so much who we are. But healing really does come. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
I am new to the channel, one of your last years everything counts challenge popped up in my feed. I loved it, you had made fig ice creams ( I want to know how LOL) and I was amazed at all you did different from the channels I watch now. This is my second video, you have to know your a beautiful woman inside and out. I will be praying for you, and watching to see how your journey goes. It takes a lot of courage to come on here and tell the truth about your fears, feeling, and where you are at. Be very proud of how you are handling each step with grace and honesty. Blessings and Prayers
Thanks so much for your kind message. I really appreciate it. I will try to find that recipe for the ice cream. I thought linked it in the video notes?? Maybe not though I will check. The cancer journey has been tough but I am trying to just be honest with everyone about what is happening. Good or bad. I’m just sharing the fact that life is ugly sometimes. We all get dealt some crappy hands sometimes and we have to deal with what we get. And there’s no sense in all of us pretending that we don’t all have those ugly times. Even if we don’t always want to share those things it makes it easier to know someone else has fought through rough times too. I am so glad you’re here. Thanks again for your message.
Been thinking of you and look for you whenever I go to Emory. You've been a real trooper and I'm happy for you that the worst is behind you. Kudos too for getting back on keto when it was possible. Hang in there girl, you got this!
YOU ARE SOOOO BRAVE!!! Thank you for sharing this journey with us. Unfortunately we all know that breast cancer will happen again. However, thanks to your bravery another person will kind of know what to expect. I would have never known all the details you have shown. Oncology is not my specialty so you have definitely she some light on the journey. At the end you had such a lovely pallier to you. Those sweet grandbabies sure give you a reason to keep fighting. You will continue to be in our prayers.
I am so glad you are doing better. I have been praying for you and your family as you have had to battle like a warrior. You look fabulous!!! I am so glad you are starting to feel like yourself again. I will continue to lift you up in prayer. Congratulations to your daughter on her graduation!!! Blessings sweet lady. ❤🌻
Congratulations to your beautiful daughter on graduating University of Georgia! Wow! What a fantastic accomplishment! I bet you are one proud mama! So sweet of your sister to be there to take care of you. Loved seeing your adorable granddaughters and beautiful family! Nice you got to the farmers market and made some delicious salsa! I need to organize my mama’s recipes and mine too! I also have mine in folders and boxes. My mom’s are in a drawer in her China cabinet that I haven’t been able to open since she passed last year, but now I think it’s time! Your recipe booked looked so pretty after you wrote in it! Where did you find that beautiful recipe book?
Julie, it's so good to see your beautiful and brave face. Thank you for the updates. Continued prayers for you, your family and health care providers. Your grandkids sure are growing up on you. Congrats to your daughter. She's so pretty, like her Mama! Hope you have a great week. Miss you. ♥
Julie thank you so much for posting about this! Sorry you had such a rough time in the beginning of recovery. Praying you are doing well. Yesterday I had my 7th chemo treatment.
Prayers for you as you continue on your journey to healing! I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Cancer on March 1st 2023. I went through chemo and 3 weeks after that i had a double mastectomy on July 27th 2023. I'm 3 weeks out from my surgery and doing great. I'm definitely not having reconstruction!!!
Hi! Thank you for your message. I am so sorry you’re going through this too. It sounds like we are on the same surgery timeline. I am feeling a lot better than I did 4 weeks ago. I hope that you are too. I haven’t decided on the reconstruction part yet. Still up in the air. I will be starting radiation soon and I’m really not looking forward to that part. I still can barely get my arm raised up so I have alot of work to do. Please keep me posted on your progress. Wishing you all the best during your treatment and beyond. 💕
I get nothing during surgery. I was completely out. They gave me plenty of pain meds when I asked for them. I had 4 drains be side I had a lymph node dissection also. They removed all the nodes from one side. The other side had excessive bleeding so they actually added the 4th drain the day after the original surgery. I had a second surgery for that.
So so glad you are doing well. It was kinda tough see you having so much pain at the beginning of the video. You look great I know things will work out great for you ,Sending prayers
Hi beautiful Julie, so glad to hear how you are doing. You got this! You are continuously in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you for the update pretty lady. 😊
You Julie, are so very brave and just as beautiful as always! I’ve been thinking about you and wondered how you were doing. I have been keeping you in my prayers. I’m so happy for you that you are recovering and I felt your pain and anxiety watching this video. I’m so sorry for everyone who has to go through this! I continue to pray for you and I know God is watching over you and your beautiful family! So nice to see you smiling! ❤
God bless you, you are in my thoughts and prayers. What a beautiful picture of you and your husband, you should print it. Sending you all the good vibes from WV . Oh what is the name of that that song playing, I love it
Hi! Thanks so much for your message. I appreciate your thoughtful words. I am feel g better everyday and can’t wait to get to the end of this treatment so I can live a more normal existence again. I am in good spirits. Thanks for your support. I hope you and your family are well. By the way the song playing is called Don’t Rush Me by Tyler Edwards. Have a great day!
St. Agatha is the Patreon Saint of breast cancer and St. Peregrine. I'm praying to them both plus St. Michael for his protection. I'll probably say the rosary later today. I was just diagnosed on Saturday the 10th of February, but I was told it was most likely cancer on the 2nd... Groundhog's Day - - which amuses me a bit. I am waiting to hear my stage and type. It's in my left breast and I'm going to have a double mastectomy, I made up my mind about that a long time ago. I'm probably going to get new TaTas using my own tissue, if I have enough fat which I think I do have enough. I think I've pushed down my feelings about everything, I'm not weepy but I'm nauseous. Thank God for Zofran. Thanks for listening to me, I know I'm rambling.

You are so strong to go through what you have been through, and I wish you the very best❤
Hi, just read your post today.. how are you?
Is it ok if I ask you about your therapy after your mastectomy? Diagnosed recently with ILC, had double mastectomy 6 days ago.
It’s so great to see your face. I’ve missed you ❤❤❤🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
So glad to see you posting and my heart was breaking for you during recovery but so glad to see in the end you are doing better! Praying for your continued recovery and the next steps.
I have been thinking of you and wondering how you were doing. God bless you❤
Thank you so much for the update. I know it is tedious to produce them but we all are so very glad to know how you are doing and seeing how fabulous you look. It is an incredibly difficult road you are on but we all look forward to the video that says "I am cancer free." So many prayers for you and lots of love for your family Julie!!!

You look so good I'm sorry you have to go through all this .I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers
Prayers for healing
God bless Beautiful lady 😊

Thank you for the updates. Keeping you in my prayers. You look good. Good to see you smile.

You are a strong and brave women. Keeping in touch with everyone company helps I have found 6:29 I understand with my many health auto illness
St Peregrine protects you 🙏🏻
Thank you for sharing your journey! You're an amazing lady and you look beautiful, Prayers for continued healing
One step at a time Julie.. ❤🙏
