- Опубликовано: 14 мар 2019
- On October 7, 2008, passengers and crew on Qantas Airlines Flight 72 were pulled up from their seats. Immediately after, the plane went into a dangerous and uncontrolled nosedive.

I’d guess being slammed against the cabin and falling horizontally would be terrifying. They deserve awards and a quadrillion dollar check for being able to save the plane.
“I’m hand flying now, it’s a bit annoying”.
It’s crazy that technology has reached a point where a pilot can basically say “damnit the plane stopped flying itself”
In Conclusion: This Plane was A330 using first time “Fly-by-wire” technology, similar technology used in Boeing 737 MAX. In this, Sensors were giving wrong input to Computer about Nose Pitch & speed, so Computer thinks its Stall and make Plane Nose Down.
In the end, Pilot saved the Airplane, made an emergency landing, and luckily No one died.
Thanks bro
Ryu Luzon agreed, Didn’t think that way, LOL
Josh Matthews here’s the thing tho, the pilots who were flying the new 737 max did not really have much background or training to deal with the MCAS and both systems do the exact same thing and therefore they were in the exact same position
Josh Matthews Thanks for the Info, I will do more research on that.

His Top Gun training saved the lives of everyone on that plane. Instead of fighting the stick, his military training told him to release it (while civilian pilot training does not.) Thankfully, it worked and the plane leveled off. As they tried to make an emergency landing, the plane suddenly dived again, but Capt. Sullivan was again able to regain control of the plane and managed to safely land, although there were severe trauma injuries to several passengers and crew who hadn't been strapped in.
And just mental trauma injuries to everyone else.

"No Man's Land" is the true story of the QF72 accident. It was released in June 2019 and this documentary shows the people side of this accident. Confused computer systems and automation on an Airbus A330 injured 119 passengers and crew. Over millions of views here and elsewhere...incredible! The survivors of the QF72 appreciate your interest and support, and I hope the warnings I voice in the book and in the documentary are heeded by those in commercial aviation, and designers of automated systems. Exotic systems create exotic failures. This is one of them. Thank you for all the great comments, from all of us on the QF72.

are you really gonna blue balls me like that?
I have watched so many of these shorts and my ears pricked up as soon as I heard "Qantas". Being an Aussie and knowing and flying Qantas most of my life it is strange to hear it mentioned in an Air Crash Investigation video due to it's almost perfect record (See. Rain Man)
The aoa is 50° so the plane thinks its about to stalk but the aoa is -50 so the plane thinks is overspeed there is a stall protection mode that makes the plane dive until get rhe plane gets enough speed to not stall (i think so)
0:53 the airspeed is going down. Anyone else don’t see that!?
WTF. For the love of God pls finish the story.
It was caused by something feeding the computer the wrong AoA (angle of attack) info and it thought that it would go int an aerodynamic stall so it pitched down hard
Everyone survived
I hate how much i love these videos. Just as i'm getting into it, the video ends.
I was on a trip to Malaysia once and my plane had a bad stall and dropped down pretty quickly to the point I felt like my insides were shaking. everyone started freaking out, But it lasted for just a few seconds before the pilot announced it was safe again.
Scariest flight experience of my life and I’ve been flying continuously for 20 years.

How did it recovers from stall and overspeed warnings? The video is not completed please upload complete thanks.
So...here's my explanasion, QF72 has an "auto-safety" feature but something went wrong, the auto-safety feature thought the airplane was going straight vertically up, so it auto "corrected" the plane, keep in mind the plane was going straight not vertically up. It sended the airplane vertically down, now the plane is going vertically down while the auto correct thinks its going straight. However the pilot was an F-14 pilot during The Cold War, one of his trainings for "loss of control" he has been told to neuturalize all controls...It worked! QF72 regained controls and landed safely with only a couple of injuries.
By the way, sorry for any bad english, im from Croatia and don't know english extremely well.
almost correct other then the couple of injuries part. there were actually over 100 injuries however saving 315 peoples lives in such situation is no joke and he should be recognized for it! :)
The Thumbnail made me think the crash was due to lackadaisical enforcement of height restrictions for flight attendants.
