Watch “Elvis Presley and the Black Community - that echo will never die” to learn some of his background. He grew up in primarily poor, black neighborhoods in Tupelo, Mississippi & Memphis, TN; sang Gospel in a Black Baptist Church; always had black backup singers. There are separate videos for Part One and for Part Two. The Part 2 video is hard to find without a reaction as part of it but search for the “ Shawn & Mel” posting since theirs is the cleanest. I’m a senior citizen happy to see that the current generation can appreciate prior generations.

Everything in this performance has a purpose. The song itself was written by Earl Brown, inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King’s speech I Have a Dream. The song was written with Elvis in mind & it’s a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Mr. Brown was aware of Elvis’s love for Dr. King. He also knew that Elvis was devastated by the news of Dr. King’s assassination. Just 9 miles away from Graceland (Elvis’s home). The white suit was also worn to accompany the song’s dream for better days. At the time, the conflict in Vietnam was heart wrenching. In remembrance, of the lives lost during the Vietnam war. The burgundy colored scarf Elvis wore around his neck, was for them.

Here how powerful and talented Elvis Presley is and was. Almost 50 years since his death in August of 1977. He is the highest earning dead star ⭐,and he is still influencing singers still today. Just how special is Elvis , think about this too. The shows like American idol, star search, X factor, the voice. All have been around for over 20 years. And every continent has these shows North America South America Europe Asia England Australia , and in all these countries these shows have millions of very talented people who have audition and then part of the show's they're looking for one person that has it all personality charm charisma good looks talent the it factor. And after 20 years and all these millions of talent people that have been on these shows not one has been the total package as Elvis was and is still to this day. And that's why he is the king of entertainment .Voted by the people as being the most important entertainer of the last millennium. In January of 2000.

Only person elected to 3 Hall of Fames - Rock and Roll , Country and Gospel. I was 16 when sitting in my folks living room and watching this on a hot Sunday night. Inspired me then and to this day. Thank you Elvis. Good to see the dream lives on. Bless you brother !

@@jennyjorgensen9935 He is the only artist inducted into 5 MUSIC GENRE HALLS OF FAME: Rock n Roll, Country, Rhythm and Blues, Gospel, and Rockabilly). These are each distinct genres of music (obviously) and EP is the only artist who achieved "mastery of the genre" in 5 genres of music. No one even comes close...the next in line I believe is Johnny Cash...inducted into 2 MUSIC GENRE Halls of Fame (Country and Rock). Cash was also inducted into songwriter hall of fame.

People always say to follow your dream like it's a shining light ahead of you. It's not. It's a scared, fierce creature hiding deep in a dark cave. You have to go in, find it, pull it out into the light and drag it along behind you while it kicks and screams trying to get back to the place where it's safe and comfortable in the dark. It'll claw at you. Bite you. Whisper doubts in your ear. It'll get loose from time to time and you have to go track it down again and start over no matter how many times it slips away. That's the reality of a dream.
