    More than half a century ago, I would hear 당신 used in teachers room (kyomushil) fights. Much later I heard it used by Junsang in addressing Yujin in Winter Sonata, not knowing that she is his old love...Realizing that Junsang is really Junsang after all, Yujin rushes to the airport and, finding him, addresses him as neo...All very interesting, especially from a Japanese point of view. Anata is similarly "dangerous" as a word for 'you'--and a woman would not address her lover as omae.

    on weverse app, supposed i have to say "jungkook you are very smart" but if i use only name instead of you then the sentence will be "jungkook is very smart" so in this sentence it feels like we are telling someone else that he is smart. So what to do that, sentence sounds like we are directly talking to jungkook without using 당신.

    • @90daykorean
      @90daykorean  3 года назад +1

      You can say 매우 똑똑하네요, 정국! for "Jungkook, you're very smart".

    So.. if someone asked me a question and I answer and in return I want to ask the person the same question, in English, I would just say "and you". How would I say that in Korean?

    What if I want to write it in a public post on social media ? I want to ask whoever read my post "What does your name means ?". On the translator I got 당신의 for "your" but I think it's not right to say so.

    • @90daykorean
      @90daykorean  3 года назад +2

      당신 is still common in writing, so you can use 당신의 in a post on social media.

    Can you give an example of this?

    • @90daykorean
      @90daykorean  2 года назад

      You may see 당신 often in writings, such as newspaper articles or advertisements. For example, '바쁜 당신에게 꼭 필요한 다섯 아이템(Five must-have items for you who are busy)', '저희 꽃배달 서비스로 당신의 마음을 전하세요 (Send your heart with our flower delivery service)'.

    can you please elaborate how it is used in historical settings? i often come across "당신" used in historical novels and get confused whether it's supposed to be polite or not

    • @90daykorean
      @90daykorean  6 месяцев назад

      The usage of 당신 in historical novels can vary depending on the author's choice as it is often used to reflect the specific time periods and their culture. ^^

      Hello! "Dangsindo gogie joh eun" isn't a complete sentence but here are the first two words' meanings: 당신도=you too, 고기=meat. The second sentence would mean "Do you like my channel?" ^^

    Could anyone please tell me what is the difference between: 당신, 당신이, 당신들? I know that they all mean "you" but why are they spelled different in certain sentences?

    • @90daykorean
      @90daykorean  2 года назад +1

      당신 /당신이 both mean "you." 이 is the subject marker that indicates the subject of a sentence. 당신들 is plural, meaning "you guys". ^^
