A meal is not proper without using the pestle.
“Pound” is a special Jing-po cooking techniques! In every Jing-po household, you can find a pestle and a bowl made of bamboo. The tools are special made as well. I dug an old bamboo root in the mountain and spent two days making the pounding bowl. To Jing-po people, everything can be pounded. They can make delicious meal with almost every ingredient.

One of my fav things about all her videos, is the interactions with people in her village. It makes me happy to see people being so kind and helpful to one another. Nobody making rude remarks or ignoring someone as if they aren’t even there. People asking “how are you” because the genuinely care about the answer. They go out of their way to work together and provide each other with items/food/labor/etc just to be kind without expecting things in return. Opening their homes and welcoming anyone and everyone to their table. I don’t think I’ve seen a single ounce of selfishness, superiority, or people treating others unkindly. It’s like one big family. ❤️
For all I know it could all be for show or the sake of the video, but I don’t believe so. It gives me so much joy and hope for humanity to know that people like this do exist. And that even though the world feels so horrible sometimes, there is still good somewhere.
There are good and bad everywhere.. where she is is special nice people.. my ancestors migrated from Sichuan down to Yunnan Province then thru Burma then Thailand and Vietnam. That’s over 2k years’ journey. Yunnan has beautiful landscapes caves.. (many Shows, films made here) you can get stuck there, they did for a few hundred years.. generations.. until it was time to move on.. the restless bug..

This lady is incredible. I'm actually stumbled upon this channel while scrolling videos about Alaskan Malamute. Found her other channel about her and her dog Dawang. That channel brings me to this channel. Her cooking looks to be phenomenal and she even make her own mortar and pestle..

She must have invested on a new gear. Clearly her recent video are better, which her iphone cant do anymore
In her interview with Goldthread, she did mention upgrading from her phone to a proper camera. With the overshot on the river, she might even invested in a drone.

She moved back home to help out, and started doing youtube as a way to earn money, but it took a long time. It's a great little series, you should check it out.
