My PB was caught at night during the summer. I was pitching a crappie jig around docks and she grabbed it and ran for open water thankfully. I followed her around the cove for at least 10 minutes with the trolling motor because I was using 4lb test.
Good thoughts there Jimi. I'm gonna start staying out later than 9-9:30 at night. Stay where I know and especially after the mid week tournaments. A great thing to have is a Therma- cell strapped to the back of my kayak seat..
Yes sir! I have had some good bite action between 11-12. For us in the derby last weekend. They ate from 9-9:30 10:30-11. Had some wild flurries. Makes me want to get back out there 😬😬 - Jimi
I bet night fishing out there is a blast! It can be a smallmouth, largemouth, or spot! I only have fished one time at night where smallmouths were a factor. That was last October at Broken Bow in Oklahoma.... It was a blast! - Jimi
As someone who did a lot of catfish fishing when I was younger night fishing was the goto but never thought about bass fishing at night I'll have to give it a try.
Thank you Jimmy for talking about night fishing. We do 3 derby per week at night during summer. Been doing it for longer than I want to remember. But buddy set up along that fence line under that tree behind you this winter and call in a couple of coyotes!! That spot is a winner, I know! Drag Johnny out there and get him out of the house! Good work guys and be blessed
We have super hot summers, watched a bass hiding and moving along the edge of the dam in like a 2" wide shadow border last weekend I was a axed that despite its size it could melt away into it.
Appreciate it! Hopefully one of the guys info will help you out! I think it is unique to hear different viewpoints on topics. I always try to learn and never want to stop. Make what works best for me and where I am fishing. - Jimi
I love fishing at night in the summer! That's when I do most of my fishing when it gets hot. It's over 100 here and still in the upper 80s and 90s at night. It'll be that way until October most likely. My Bass Buggy is rigged up plenty of lights for night running. A suggestion I would make is to buy a citronella bug bracelet. They're cheap and last for days. Best way to keep the bugs off of you.
Good share on the bracelet! Luckly the bugs have not been too bad here. I tried to run the lights on the cameras during the fishing but of course....that attracted the bugs. - Jimi
When we are talking night fishing how late are y’all going or when are you seeing the best results typically. I got on a good whopper plopper bite from 9:15-9:30 last night. But I’ve also fished until 1am before and never had luck being out super late/early. And I know some guys are staying out literally all night. I’d be curious to know when they feel the best time is or if that’s based on region of the country too. I’m in Fort Worth.
So my last trip that we won the derby. It ended at midnight. We had two flurries a 9:30-10:00 and then a 11:00-11:30. I know from my past I have had some good trips from the 10-12 mark. But this is also before the full moon. It is fishing…. I know some anglers that catch them really good before dark. I know one that only catches them after dark. Each lake can be different and I think a lot of it can relate around the moon phase. It is frustrating though when you stay out late and do not get bites…- Jimi
@@BassFishingDeclassified appreciate the feedback jimi! I caught my PB last year in the middle of august right as the sun was going down on a neko rig at 8:45. She went 8.8. I think I’ll stick to the before midnight hours, that’ll be best for the family too 👍🏽. Thanks for the feedback!
What a bass to catch on the neko rig! Yeah just always remember… there are times where they won’t eat or you are not around the ones feeding. It can all be a timing deal. For me …. When I fish super late and do not catch them. I am pretty mad because I know they have to be eating somewhere 😬
Hey Jimmy great stuff! Tried my first time fishing at night from a boat a few days ago what a difference from walking the shoreline! My question is in a video in the future everyone talks about big lakes reservoirs and things like that but what about river fishing? And I’m not talking about creeks that you can wait in i’m talking about navigational rivers like the Ohio and many others. Would love to know some of your thoughts and ideas about different times a year! To me this is the One thing missing from this channel. All of your thoughts and ideas are great and are better than some channels out there much more informative and have learned a lot including my children! Keep up the awesome videos
Yes sir! I know Matt sometimes goes over rivers, I have here and there myself. I have a river nearby that I have a lot of experience at.... I plan to get out there some next month... Right now we have a few highland reservoirs that are on fire! Thanks for the feedback! I am putting it in my notes - Jimi
Jimi, something I never see mentioned when most guys mention night fishing is the fact that around here, everyone that fishes a worm or jig at night use blacklights and clear/blue florescent line. Too bad nobody makes florescent florocarbon.
Interesting question. I have not thought about that.... Top of my head counter clockwise? With that it can depend more on weather. Such as wind speed, sunlight angles, and cover on the pond.
Thanks for the info, Jimi! When you say "night" what hours are you talking? Like literally middle of the night 3am? Or anytime past sundown? Like would Dusk to Midnight be good?
Yeah some people will fish all night to morning. I am not that guy. Midnight is typically my latest. Now last October we took a trip to Broken Bow OK. We fished till 3 am. The smallmouth there were eating after midnight…
When fishing the worm do you soak it or work it fast at night? Thanks for the tips just starting to night fish and struggling to get bites which makes me spin out lol.😢
What’s everyone’s experience fishing a moon lit bank versus the dark side? Caught largemouth last night on the moon lit banks… but that’s all I fished till 2am
Great stuff as usual! I’ve had the night fishing fever lately with this Alabama heat. I think I will try it tonight weather permitting. I really enjoy BFD, there is so much good info…..except for Randy’s never ending whine about live-scopers…..I just bypass his part.
Appreciate it! I hope to get another night fishing trip in next week. 😬 Randy does not talk about live scope on this channel. He gives tips and advice. A lot of anglers like to watch his part on our channel if they do not have it. I still think it is unique to have him and then me on same videos. I am pro livescope. We are still friends and work together too 😁😁 Thanks for watching! Goodluck to you - Jimi 🤙🏽

I've salt water fished at night but didn't even really Kno bass would feed after dark. Never caught anything after dark in freshwater except for catfish. 🤔 Interesting
Yes sir!! They chew at night 😬. Even this last October. I had an excellent night fishing trip at Broken Bow in OK. The smallmouth there ate at midnight!
When ever you and The highschool angler where fishing the big worm plum ol monsters How deep were y’all catching fish ?!! Seems like every always tells what the are you using and how they doing it , but leaves out the critical tip of how deep they were fishing it ???? Let me know brother
I mentioned it early in the breakdown the high spot depth and water around it. The brush top was in 15-20 ft. We tried to keep the boat in 25-30 but did creep up on the high spot some. It was good size high spot. -Jimi. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, I wear the summer hooded shirts the whole summer. I talked about why I do in this video ruclips.net/video/P8vyNox8i-I/видео.html My last few trips I have fished in heat temps in the 100 and the real feel is way above that.

@@waltergurly4040- I’ve fished years at night in the summer time. Quite, peaceful. Yes, with flour carbon line it looks like a rope. The black light makes your line look 10 times it’s size. You can see every tick. Good luck.

Night fishing is the absolute best . Black Jitterbug got me my PB on a july night full moon 8lbs in upstate NY.

Really enjoy night fishing one thing you missed Jimi the lake is not near as crowded as the daytime.😀😀😀😀👍👍👍👍👍

If you’re paddling around a big pond or small lake, as a right hand caster- would you fish it clockwise or counter clockwise ?
