Classical Greece and the Aegean Sea area had been using Iron for weapons and armor for a few centuries by the time of the Battle of Thermopylae. The proto-Persians for longer.
Even if the Spartan's would have still been using bronze weapons in the time of Leonidas, like in the Movie "The 300", he would have kicked this bronze sword down a water well too rather tham have had to fight with it. Sword-like-object in video is rubbish, a non historical fantasy design and... a crude one at that! Just because someone can melt bronze and pour it in a sand mould doesn't mean they know crap about the effective design & function of a bronze age sword. They basically made an expensive wall decoration.
I'm just wondering many kg is your crucible I have a 12kg one and was thinking of doing a sword but not sure if that would be enough. fantastic work btw !!!!!
Groeten, Jeff
Im intrested waht you mixed it looked like you melt ore and then put metal that was made industrial .... anyways thank you very much have fun and stay save..p.s was it zink ?
Ithnk you very much im always asking this newbe questions and you make it comforting for me toread and dont feel all the way stiupid thanks have a greate day a plessure watching you gave a beautyfull day and best wishes from berlin
Tin and copper There can't be much difference between copper alone and bronze so its hardness is worthless the only thing I liked is that it is sharp but maybe if you combine copper with aluminum tin it will be stronger
Steel has to be forged if it is to make a durable blade. Bronze is different. It is better to cast bronze and then work harden it due to the properties of the crystalline phase. They will never be as tough or hold an edge as well as steel, but bronze blades can be cast and easily repaired if broken.

The color of the bronze sword is beautiful, the process of making it looks very enjoyable, this is a professional team
Whoever commissioned you this sword has great taste and excellent knowledge. But you are extraordinary!
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this! A craftsman at work.
The craftsmanship is mesmerizing... Great work.
I'm confused, a video that doesn't start with the forge being lit off?

He's got a trailer now. This channel is getting fancy.

This is amazing craftsmanship.
Фриирк и кузнец и химик и инженер и литейщик. Надо брать учеников. Великолепно.
Love the aesthetics of bronze weaponry

A sword shouldn't weigh more than a couple pounds
Beautiful work man, enjoyed your video.
Sir, what was the final weight of the weapon?
I wanna know
hi what is the substance you use to cast in, some sort of clay?
Gilgamesh will be proud.👊🏽
Vertically casting it may have given less voids shrinkage
this guy has power tools to grind everything down. how did they do it in bronze age? all with a grindstone?

what is this bronze composed
Excellent work what are you using to give it that great patina
Im intrested waht you mixed it looked like you melt ore and then put metal that was made industrial .... anyways thank you very much have fun and stay save..p.s was it zink ?
Copper and tin with a small amount of either aluminum, zinc, or nickel. Bronze is a copper-tin alloy.

@@freerkwieringa275 🙏🏾 no problem true craftsmanship
Nice design must weigh a ton though
....can you craft the Mea Culpa Sword from the video game Blasphemous?
Amazing
Jesus! Don't ever let go of the wood (or whatever you are cutting) between the fence and the blade.
are you greating something else than the military equipment. I am thinking on bronze bodies, sculptures etc?
Muito linda essa espada 👍
How much is a blade like this?
If you have to ask it means you cannot afford it.
The man just showed you how to make it, get to it.
Que belleza de hermosura de espada, como para ecribirle una carta, jejejejejeje
Awesome ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ideal bronze sword
At 16:42 to 17:42 what did you do? pls answer
@Freerk Wieringa - (👁👃👁) -- why didn't you forge the bronze ?
An education in antiquity. So this is how bronze swords were, and are still made. Although now they could be machined on a MAZAK.
Ooh das ’a’ fancy!
What type of metals are used for this ?
Tin and copper
The copper and tin percentages would preferably be at least 88 percent copper and 12 percent tin
Blade bad ! Work good !
what is the thinnest blade thickness that you can cast?
Doesn’t matter as long as it holds it’s mark in the casting sand
That’s awesome bud ! You should make a two handed one that says “ He who wields this in the name of ~Brad Fell No Shame” . Out of platinum .
Grande capolavoro sei un genio

There is a big difference, trust me. Bronze is well harder than either tin or copper. Alloys are strange like that.
can the casting clay be reused?
Most of it, yes. Only a small bit was burned, you just throw that bit away. Not clay btw, it's a special type of sand.
I like forging by pressure and pressing more than this.(beacause forging will make it solid)

unhardened...?
@@johnathansaegal3156 I did mean hammering, yes...but I didn't realise the process made the metal more brittle. Ty for the education!
jesus, they used about 50lbs of extra sand. box only needed to be about 4" total height. instead its about 15" lol. ton of extra unnecessary work
