I thought you were joking until his name popped up in the next video. I saw an old movie called 4 rooms, and became an instant fan. His deadpan reactions to bodies under the mattress was hysterical.
I’m not really a fan of Sarah’s singing voice for a couple of reasons, but I have so much respect for the woman. 30 years later and she can still rock the hell out of phantom (whilst I mess up on the second line of think of me lol), also she seems like such a wonderful person. My hat is off for you, Sarah.
I really prefer her takes in the 80s and 90s. Her newer performances just sound super screamy to me, but I can't believe she can still sing so well, even in her 60s!
My mom and I saw her when she came to Dallas in February of 2019, and let me say this, she was still able to hit that high note! It was better than the 2008 and 2018 version that’s for sure
There aren't many singers that can perform as well as this past sixty, I can think of Bassey and one or two others, her voice will of course have changed since 1988, anyone's that doesn't? I will never get bored of listening to her, she's incredible.
I've always said that 2008 was THE WORST vocal year for Sarah Brightman... She sounded SO "Sharp" very penetrating to the ear, she sounded almost like a "whistle register"...
that whistly vocals followed throughout the whole symphony tour including on the vienna concert where it's clearly pre-recorded. It's lovely to find live clips of her beautiful voice
Well, for someone who has 30 years more than the first performance, it's still amazing! Knowing that the voice changes when we get older and all that, I'm impressed. Also, I sang along, because I love the song, and I can never reach that last E6 (I'm a mezzo and usually A5 is the highest comfortable note I can reach), and I did it! For the first time ever! And having a sore throat! And I'm proud, so I had to share :p
The third, "attempt" (2008) was recorded badly and presented to your viewers badly, too. It's not a viewing that should be considered when you're trying to compare years. Despite that, her voice is amazing.
Damn! It’s amazing that she can still do this. I personally do love the newer ones as they are more piercing and metallic. But I will say that vibrato is annoying, I wish it was quicker.
I saw Sarah in Niagara Falls in November of 2023.. She performed the title song from the Phantom as part of her set... All I can say is. "Holy Shit!" It was incredible that she even attempted to sing it.. but she was able to hit the final note and had the entire audience on their feet for a standing ovation that lasted close to 90 seconds! It was one of the best moments of my life and one I will never ever forget!
I'm pretty sure she actually damaged her vocal cords quite badly years ago and had to adapt her songs around a new range and style so the fact she can still song so well in her late 50s is incredible!
at times it sounds like her mouth isn't open wide enough for the notes she's singing - my chorus teacher drills it into our heads all the time that you always need to have a lot of space in your mouth or you won't sound mature enough and to me it sounds like she doesn't have it especially in the last decade
Does The editor of this clip understands that Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote every song for her, the whole show was inspired for her voice. Only she has the right, originally given right to sing this song, at anytime anywhere. It’s her song.
I love her but the first two are literally the same take! The final two are also the same take! She doesn’t do the C or E live, I don’t think she ever has. She usually does the A and Bb live though.
Hunter K. Taylor i agree partially. She generally does not do the E live. But she does indeed do the C. And there is palpable timbral difference between the first and second videos. Her timbre is darker in the second one. I have seen that whole concert and her voice was sounding pretty great then.
ofc age does effect the vocals overtime, but you must also keep in mind that singing in a register this high is EXTREMELY difficult and doing it all the time can, even if using proper technique, cause some sort of vocal strain, if not damage, so ofc it’s not gonna sound the same regardless of anything. ntm, SHE STILL SOUNDS GOOD. sure, it’s a bit wonky at some parts ofc, but her pitch, tone, breath support is still on point
Sarah is amazing. For a woman in her 60's to be reaching those notes is beyond excellent. I'm a singer myself and have been gifted by the lord above with a voice. So i know how much aging takes a toll on your voice. What i can't understand is who the hell did her face lift because she looks like a cat I.E. Barbara Eden. You can see her eye twitching as she's reaching those high notes.
Sarah is trying very hard to hit those notes in recent years, using a lot of effort, struggling to sustain it.. esp with the High Cs,.. her eyes wont' stop "twitching", her throat looks very scrunched up.. and the notes are more screamy.. yea she is old and her voice is no longer the same.. i think that she should stop singing Phantom of the Opera, i admit i do love this song, but it is better for her and she can preserve her voice longer. and i hope that she doesn't turn into the next Edita Gruberova..

They can say anything they want to say, but never they will erase sarah's history. She is a professional singer and the best musical so far, Phantom of the Opera, was writted for her.
I don't think it's fair that you show that poor quality version of the 2008 performance as the recording is very poor. The last performance Sarah looks as if she's trying to get her voice to go higher as it needs to for the last note but it's not happening as it should. Let me try that again, nope not that time, try again, nope still not there, Phantom reaches out to her, I can do this, damn it, c'mon Sarah you can do this, YES! finally.
Wooooow Mama Mia! Do you think Ariana Grande can hold her own in this? She probably could. It would take great practice for anyone to sing like this. MC though?
As a different perfection each year, and to know at 2018's performance she must've had period, weird to still have at the late 50s but her face is swollen( don't talk of plastic or botox a few weeks later on a show she was just normal) and you can tell noticing her breasts all that and singing phantom of the opera well, all we can do is just respect.
Sure? Are you there with the staff to say it? She doesnt need to prove anything for you, for me or anybody. She is the true angel of music. This musical was written for her vocal range. She can do it anytime, anywhere!

Would she make that ugly faces if it was really playback? Lol
Reasons her voice was so bad in 2008 was cause she had throat surgery. Its kinda almost the same as what happened to the lovly miss Andrews. Had throat surgery and couldn't sing again.
PLEASE forgive me for bringing this up, but WHYYYYYY did she gain ALL that WEIGHT??? Weight gain like that can't be good for your heart, and it can't be good for an opera singer's voice either - makes any straining much worse!
first of all, she's not obese, second of all she's 60, your metabolism changes with age, and lastly weight gain can actually help sustain the voice if you are very thin

WOW she can still hit the high note in her 60s?! Lol I won't ever be able to do that

No, her technique really isn't great. Her placement doesn't sound healthy to me, most noticeably in her lower registers.

Maravillosa! Sarah brightman nuestro ángel de la música, una voz de un verdadero ángel...
pero su voz es más débil ahora que cuando era joven.
y lo siento por mi mal español, no lo hablo bien
we saw her last Saturday night and it is was wonderful!
SHE'S STILL GOT IT!!
I definitely prefer her earlier performances, but it is incredibly impressive that she can still hit those notes well into her fifties.
Com o passar dos anos , fica cada vez melhor !!!! 😍😍😍

I love the 2018 one with all the School of Rock kids just jamming in the background.
The last two scared me.
Sarah por siempre la mejor
