*Why I love Colin's book way more than others* Its my personal favorite out of all the Bridgertons followed closely by Freancessa. I think at this point, its totally about your own personal conflicts and life mistakes you did that could make their book more relatable to you. Other brothers have so many kind of heavy conflicts going on that you may not come across in day to day life. So it's entertaining to read at reader level only, you can seldom relate to their conflicts except that related to marriage. In Colin's book, he had so many inner conflicts going on. Feeling of not being there in life, feeling aimless, feeling anxious and restless, wanting to leave the place and just go somewhere else; running away from life and people in general, that's what makes Colin's book relatable to me. We all have been there. When your family is particularly rich in talent, wealth, business or at certain field, with your siblings being the accomplished one, cause of course they're older and hence got opportunity earlier than you to prove themselves. At this stage, you might feel lost, aimless, philosophical, having nothing interesting to do. Talking about doing big things but inside you're so tired you don't even wanna pick up from where you left previously. You want to prove yourself but in the end, you think nobody is worthy enough to estimate your own worth. You start to give up, cause your parents are already focused on your more accomplished siblings, they barely have any attention for you, but you know they love you. You feel bad, thinking there was something you could do for them that they don't have. Something that'd make them happier and yet more closer to you. It's a feeling of wanting to belong, wanting to be accepted, wanting to be embraced. For Colin, we all saw how he was a cheeky humored gentlemen in season 1 who after a miserable betrayal and heartbreak went into lost self identity. He might know now but Pen is the only one who understands him. They both are writers at their own perspectives, their words strike different, their soul needs unconscious connection with anyone they seek to meet. He needs to grow out of his moping, work on his past to let it go and embrace those who are undeniably happy with his mere presene, his family, his friends. Penelope. Even if it's just as a friend. And if he comes out of that self made destructive walls he made around himself, just a little hand forward to even ask for help, I'm sure he'll not find himself alone in this world. These real life conflicts, added with their increasing love for each other, atop friends to lovers troupe worked really good for me. I think their slow burn, subtle looks, easy smiles, light touches and that warm feeling of friendship and casual comfort they've with each other is what makes them more endearing than the others for me.

If you look at the painting in the background and the footman in the doorway you can tell it's the same part of the room. Portia watched Pen having that conversion with Colin.
