    • @Wasev
      @Wasev 6 лет назад +11

      fordsrule35 yeah but housing and the cost of living as a whole was much, much cheaper in those days. A 26k salary in the early 80s meant that you were upper middle class.

    • @fordsrule35
      @fordsrule35 6 лет назад

      Make Rome Great Again Ummm Maybe middle class. My dad's salary was around that much in the mid 80's. Oh yes it was much cheaper back in those days lol. I miss the 80's.

    • @Wasev
      @Wasev 6 лет назад +6

      fordsrule35 I did some internet research and what I found out what that the average price for a home in California was something like 67k, which in todays money would be like 190k.
      The dude makes 26k, that would be like 74k in todays money, where a house would cost 190k in todays money... just to give a you an image of cheap the cost of living used to be. Wow. The guy had it really good, he was upper middle class but probably felt wealthy due to the immense cheap cost of living.
      Now consider this, the average California home today is at around 440k and average wage is like 50k. Wages have really stagnated, thanks to the decline of labor unions.
      Also, I share your nostalgia for the decade of the 80s. I love the music, pop culture fashion from that era. The cheap cost of living is a huge bonus too.

      No crime at all. Rolling Hills is actually a guard gated CITY. One of the only in all of LA. Besides Hollywood Hills. Rancho Palos Verdes on the other hand is not. Regardless, I am on campus all the time and even though they are always renovating and making it more modern I feel it still has the same personna and some architecture from nearly 55 years ago. ( My dad and his three sisters graduated from this school) One sister graduated the same year this video was shot. one thing to point out though, this school is no longer called Rolling Hills high but rather Palos Verdes Peninsula High school.

    The way this guy jokes around with the girl and loosely ask her "what were you abused" and she just laughs about it because it was genuinely funny just goes to show how sensitive our society has become now in days and now i could be wrong but i feel like a person from the modern age would be offended by such "humor" again i could be wrong this is just from my perspective

      Because back then, internet was non-existent.
      No social media, no smartphones - none.
      Everyone had to talk to each other in person.
      Like it or not, 80s to 90s wasn't as toxic society to take jokes like you said then than they are now. By toxic society, I mean it was a joke. Nobody had the ability to record that moment or tweet about what he she said. It was "ok, yeah whatever," and move on. Only reason now is due to the rise of social media, social justice warriors, and other non-sense that don't even make sense.
