This song is great, I get a 80's feeling also with the synth. The songs on "Diamonds in the rough" are b-side tracks, leftovers that did not fit the album they made way back. Since 2011 I have listened probably 500-1000 hours of A7X but I did not know about that album either, until they re-released/master it last year. :)
@@Samuel-wh4yt DId not come across it, did not know it existed. Got such a happy surprise last year, could not believe finding stuff I have not heard, it was great.
@@Samuel-wh4yt Yes, those are so good, found those before "Diamonds in the rough" on Spotify. :) Maybe we should suggest a reaction to one of those. :)
This song is obviously not quite album quality, especially with the production, but I love the piano and strings. It's very noirish. Picture yourself walking through the streets of Chicago at night and the sound really hits. Tension is one of the really blunt songs. Matt's venting the common frustrations we all have. Very simple, but nice. The bridge is really rewarding. A little country in there. Beautiful! 😄
Avenged Sevenfold's diamonds in the rough certainly are diamonds, in my opinion. They're outstanding, no matter how rushed or imperfect they are. Avenged Sevenfold's songs on their main studio albums are simply emeralds, rubies, sapphires, moonstones, opals, and jadestones. They're more valuable to the band's reputation, though these deep cuts are far from lacking.
Diamonds in the Rough isn't on the sheet because it's not considered a studio album. It's in the compilations section of their discography page on Wikipedia, I believe. With any luck, the contributors there will restructure A7X's sub-articles at some point.
@@chrismeadows4216 Wikipedia doesn't make it factual I bought live in the lbc when it was released meaning diamonds in the rough was released and wouldn't be on my shelf right now use all the 10 dollar words from a 5 cent notebook you want it WAS RELEASED!!!!!!!!!÷÷÷
I heard a different combination to you, more like Chicago meets Journey, with metal fast drumming. It had an odd feel to it. Not nasty, scary or anything negative. But, I don't know, just odd. I didn't get thrusted into excitement, or wanting to move to the music. However, the gentle overtones went well, and painted soft hues in my mind rather than explosions of vigour. Wonder of perhaps the band were looking at a concept song, to create an alternative mood. I'm clutching at straws here, not really knowing where to go with a realistic description.
I think someone commented and said this was a B-side type of song... Something that was written for an album but didn't make the cut initially. I might have misunderstood, but I think they took those B-side songs and made the album that this came from a few years back. It's definitely unique.
@@BetterEveryDayRUclips that's correct-the original release of this song was on Diamonds in the Rough, which is predominantly a mix of songs that they decided not to put on the self-titled and one or two covers. They later re-released diamonds in the rough with a couple more b-sides from the nightmare & hail to the king era and another cover. There were a couple standouts on diamonds in the rough, including Crossroads, Tension, Demons and Dancing Dead that we all have been a bit surprised weren't included on the self-titled
I love this song. It's always on in my car on my way home from work on fridays
I Recommend you "Waking the fallen Resurrected Documentary" Its about the begining of the band!!
I hadn't heard this song before today. I'm stoked I clicked your channel cause the song is 🔥 🔥!!

Yeah for sure but i wish it was on an album. Everytime it comes on my playlist I have to listen to it all the way through.
That's why I liked Diamonds in the Rough. We get to hear some of these more raw emotional songs that got cut, not that they're bad by any means

Oooh. That makes sense. I will have to add it to the album list.
It is the other disc from the live in the LBC cd really???
@@stevenbirchall6987 Factually and intrinsically. It was bonus material until the new release of the expanded album.
