Lorna: "4 of pepper." Laurie: "No, it has to be a 1, 2, or 3." Lorna: "Okay... 3 of pepper!" That shouldn't have gotten me as much as it did, but I burst out laughing so loud at 2AM on Chistmas morning. My neighbors probably hate me for it. I don't care, I enjoyed it 😂
Should have got Oli Davis to run through the game's rules since he's pretty much an expert of Spicy and even created is own unique style of play that has never been seen before or since. Shame we don't get to see him show off his skill in this episode
1:03:42 The rules explicitly say for when the last card is played and announced 'The next card can only be played after all players decide not to challenge.' So Dom couldn't Copycat there until it is resolved.
This game sounds very similar to a card game I used to play in high school with a standard deck of cards. If I recall correctly, it was simply called B.S. (Bull****), and you would bluff when you laid cards down, incrementing in value each round. Starting out, you would shuffle the deck and pass out all 52 cards among the players playing. If you wanted a more complicated game, you could play with more than one deck. The starting player would be whoever started with the Ace of spades. For each round, whichever number you were on, you would need to lay down cards of that number. You could lay down as many as you want of that number, but you could always be challenged. So if one of the players had 3 of the 4 Aces, and you claimed to be putting down 2 Aces, they could reliably call you on it, and if you were lying, you pick up the whole pile, or if you were telling the truth, your challenger would pick up the pile. When you reach back to the person who started, the number increments. You must call BS before the next person goes. If you find that someone previously lied, it's too late as you have already gone on to the next person. The goal is to get rid of all of your cards.
Maybe they already did something similar, but you know what would've been an amazing power card? Having one of the power cards be: "You gain a number of points equal to [maybe even doubled to make it burn extra] the number of assembled origami power cards in your possession" -- and of course have it placed strategically on the draw for the player who had the most origami power cards right near the end, or complained the most about it. 😂
@01:08:02 Wasn't Blair on 13 points, said she got 20 but her score went to 43? Not sure if I missed somewhere else in the video where her score was displayed wrong EDIT: Watching back her final score was correct, graphic displaying her score showed 13 instead of 23
This was a good episode - any chance you can do more sound balancing? Every time people start yelling and screaming I can’t work out what is happening and have to alter the volume- then they are suddenly quiet and I have to turn it up again. This combined with no proper subtitles is making this quite inaccessible.
PLACEMENT SPOILERS, WATCH VIDEO FIRST!!!!!! Score ranges for finishing scores (using current scores and ranges, this was calculated for worst and best scores possible for each person, with the powers I remember still being in play): All worst are assuming max point value taken by powers from end of the video, and best are calculated with any positive score modifiers and winning. Blair worst- 23 best- 31 Laurie worst- 21 best- 29 Dom worst- 21 best- 28 Lorna worst- 18 best- 26 Sullivan worst- 20 best 26 Sat worst- 12 best- 20 I added 1 and 2 for Dom and Sully, respectively, since I doubt that they won't use those powers. On who? Logically Blair, but, potentially, Lorna, Sat, etc. Hence why Sullivan has a higher low than Lorna, but the same high and why Dom ties Laurie's worst but not his best. A shorter version is Sully gains 1 no matter what, Dom can lose up to 1 point, everyone else can lose 3 points. PS- I may have forgotten a power modifier or shield that's still in play, so, yeah, assume worst is that they aren't played at all.
I don't know if this is controversial, but I think Sat's 7 of Pepper should have been valid because 6=9 and therefore 7 can be greater than 9 Also I love how much of a drama queen Laurie is, especially when picking his "power" card 😂
The idea of Blair and Dom raising a child together is so delightfully absurd. 😂 I guess if it produces Sully 2.0 it would be okay, but something tells me there would be low repeatability with a large margin of error.
2 min in. So, it's Liar's Dice with card, yeah? I was shocked the video game version of that won Steam's 2024 Innovation Award when it's a game older than Steam itself 😆
I am confused - we are missing one of the games in the league because it's Patreon exclusive? (Captain Sonar). Or are they just adding a bonus game of Captain Sonar so it's winner can be the 4th player in the Yogscast match, regardless of their standing in the main league?
7:54 A Tales from the Loop reference. A hint at an upcoming project perhaps!? No but a boy can keep dreaming, besides it would just be on Patreon if they did & I can't afford it...
Go to surfshark.com/nrb for 4 extra months of Surfshark at an unbeatable price! AD
Thank you to whoever edited this video, having the cards they've claimed to put down in the bottom right was really nice to have.
There was a real missed opportunity not having Oli Davis explain the rules of SPICY. He's an expert at it.
Teri's laugh at the end when Sully said he could steal 2 points from Lorna was great.
I know, that was my favorite part!
Lorna: "4 of pepper."
Laurie: "No, it has to be a 1, 2, or 3."
Lorna: "Okay... 3 of pepper!"
That shouldn't have gotten me as much as it did, but I burst out laughing so loud at 2AM on Chistmas morning. My neighbors probably hate me for it. I don't care, I enjoyed it 😂
Blair about to have the most miserable, adversarial game of Cosmic Encounters anyone has ever seen...
can't wait lol
House Rules SPICY but you have to have something hot equal to the strength of a card you called out for bluffing incorrectly
YESSSSS. Collab with First We Feast perhaps??
This sounds like an amazing idea
They did that with stratego and I don't think they would survive spicy with how fast-paced it is lol
@@GingerRoot-kf1gm that stratego video is on my top 5 list for NRB
@@GingerRoot-kf1gm Cayenne pepper, over and over or even tobasco shots wouldn't be terrible that fast. JUUUUUST tolerable.
Sully’s recovery from breaking character for just a split second is exemplary! 5 stars! 6:28
"Honesty does win!" says Sat, after trying to play that "7 of chilis" as a "7 of salt" only one round earlier.. 😆
Should have got Oli Davis to run through the game's rules since he's pretty much an expert of Spicy and even created is own unique style of play that has never been seen before or since. Shame we don't get to see him show off his skill in this episode
The true spiciness is Sullivan's sultry energy the entire game.
1:03:42 The rules explicitly say for when the last card is played and announced 'The next card can only be played after all players decide not to challenge.' So Dom couldn't Copycat there until it is resolved.
I could make a dice tower of Lorna's head. For best results, I would need many photos of her head from different angles to generate the model from.
Sullivan, the first ever Shark-Human-Pig hybrid!
He’s a ManSharkPig, half man, half shark, half pig.
@@BigBerthaFromMerthyr i think your fractions need work XD
44:22 I can't be the only one that heard 2 of Tilly here.
Wasn't really familiar with Sat before this series, now he's one of my favourites. He's just out here trying his best and honestly mood lol
Oh my god Sully with the El Nombre reference!! What a deep cut from my childhood!
Dom's got so much into the Dune universe now his eyes must be turning blue
28:40 Dom's little side eye to Blair absolutely made me bust a gut laughing. Thank you guys for your content, I have really enjoyed it!
Getting flash backs to the El Numbere hamster show which I definitely forgot. But I remember Sullivan….I REMEMBER!
El Nombre and Words and Pictures with the Magic Pencil were staples of childhood!
Maybe they should do another hot sauce house rules with this game
Instead of hot sauce, just straight up peppercorns, dried chillies and wasabi!
"El Nombre! Writing letters in the desert sand!" I got you Sully, we must be close to the same age 😂

1:15:13 "Don't smack a gift horse in the mouth" Not quite, Sat, but also good advice
Who smacks a horse in the mouth, gift or otherwise!?
Ive been trying to remember El Nombre for years- i thought it was a fever dream. Cheers Sullivan
I remember El Nombre, Sullivan. They used to roll out the TV at primary school so we could watch it instead of doing maths
Loving the NRB yogscast collabs recently
I am with Sullivan! I also looked crazy as no one understood El Nombre.
The Lorna's head magic 8 ball, should have the dice in the forehead, as a third eye, so it can be "The Lorna of destiny and the eye of doom".
ELLLLLLL NOOOOOOMBREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
I used to love that show when I was little
And his sidekick, Little Juan!

I noticed the same thing, but final score is correct, after two rounds Blair had 23 points, not 13
I assumed there was an error in the graphics, but i did do a double take when I saw it.
Just want to say I’ve been absolutely loving Sat on the channel! He brings a great energy and is terrifically funny
🎼El Nombre, writing numbers in the desert sand, el Nombre!
That El Nombre nostalgia hit me like a TRUCK. Thank you for that Sullivan
Yes!! I remember El Nombre from school! For years I thought I was mad. But now I feel this is some Candle Cove situation.
I need more of sat in my life such a good addition
Great episode, excited to see what happens in Cosmic Encounter.
I love the sound the dice going down the tower makes
Sly and sneaky Sat is nearing Angry Laurie on my "Oh yes, delicious"-o-meter.

Yeah, seconded. Some auto-leveling and/or compression would be nice.
Yes! El Nombre! Adios amigos, and keep counting! No person I've ever met has understood...
Who would win in a fight between El Nombre and The Count from Sesame Street?
(It's a maths contest... but also there are weapons...)
why does sully sound so hot? what happened to his voice?
He somehow sounds more suave than usual
its "Bullshit" with a new name and some extra rules, Love it!
20:58 OneSabi…now I miss Pete 😢
Rest in Pete 😢
6:27 Sullivan almost broke character there. 😂
Sully! I remember El’ Nombre! So good 😺
I will never not love casual, underplayed Futurama references.
Sat had a whole storyline this vid lol
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays NRB Crew!
El Nombre, oh my goodness; what a deeply buried memory for Sullivan to dredge up for me but I thank him for it
I am so fucking hyped for another Yogscast collab and I can only hope we get many more! The Jingle Jam appearances were incredible
When hearing pepper, all can think of is Al Snow's dog.
Much like Sullivan is the child of Dom and Blair, obviously Sat is the child of Lorna and Laurie.
I need that serum asap
To drink or to give to someone else?

Happy Christmas Mates!! And have an awesome new year!
Great episode. Go Blair
I remember El Nombre. I sing his theme still.
1:07:54 Blair actually had 23 points, not 13. So +20 equal 43 confused me a bit
El Nombreeeeee! Hell yeah, great reference even if was the only one who got it!
It's a Onesabi, it's always a Onesabi.

Oo, so the game is Basically BS, but with custom printed cards? nice, i love playing BS
Also harder. The decrease in suits and numbers as well as the splitting of the bluff calling.

It seems to be a bonus because they're still playing cosmic encounter as their final game for the league.
They're playing a second game of cosmic encounter as the patreon exclusive, captain sonar is the game they're playing against the yogs
Is there a place to buy this game outside the US? I know I could just modify the game it is based off, but would prefer the setup this provides.
I remember El Nombre Sully, I remember
They will face the Yogscast?? :D :D :D
Hot sauce for Christmas?!
Yay Blair! 💪
A five is worth writing home about
Sat was on an emotional roller coaster this game.
Will the cosmic encounter ep be here😢
Oh My God! El Nombre!
but wait did blair count her points wrong? at the end she said 20 but she got 30 points added to her score.
Blair got 20 points and jumped from 13 to 43 so Terry cheated.
Doctor of pepper!
Justice for Sat, he should have placed first. He should have gotten the +10 card, and Blair shouldn't have.
Thiefs dice
Love having Sat on!
How did Blair got 13+20=43?
If I turn down the volume enough to make the screaming bearable I can't hear when people speak normally
In general, the power cards have been pretty disappointing. About 80% have been nothing and only about half of the okay ones have been effective
So what happens if someone has IBS lol? :P
7:54 A Tales from the Loop reference. A hint at an upcoming project perhaps!? No but a boy can keep dreaming, besides it would just be on Patreon if they did & I can't afford it...
Are we gonna get Sat in on some Call of Cthulhu? I'd love to see what he could do. I love him.
this was a really funny episode i dont know why there arent more views
Gotta love Sat, best addition to NRB in ages
