Talk about a jackpot day of photography! Nick your choice of MUSIC to put to these videos is far and away better than the other band of RUclipsrs, IMO. It really adds to the story telling. Outstanding start to the year, man.
Nick, thanks so much for the great videos you produce. Often we go out to photograph a location with visions of the images we want to create and capture, only to be disappointed by the imperfect conditions. But in your videos, you remind us that when going out, it’s important not only to enjoy the day and surroundings, but to take what we get with the conditions presented, and make the best of them. Whether it’s cloudy and grey conditions at Palouse Falls, wind blown sunset in the dunes, stormy foamy conditions on the coast, or bluebird boring skies in the woods, there’s always a great photo to be created if we maintain the mindset of openness to the conditions. Thanks for the psych advice!!
Thank you very much for showing us your images Nick. It is great to see what and why you shoot your images with the occasional how it is done. All delivered in a professional and serious way without taking yourself too seriously. More please.
Nick, I think you’re the only RUclipsr who doesn’t have us longingly gaze at your images for a full minute each time you show one of them. I find the humility quite charming and respectable, but some of these images are incredible and they flash on the screen for like two seconds! I end up rewinding or pausing so as to examine them longer. Not really an issue, I know where the pause button is on my iPad. Just an observation. Great stuff as always, man.
I'm a new fan. Like your PNW hat too. I'm from Whidbey just north of Seattle and too love the forrest and coastal diversity the PNW brings. My absolute favorite is a foggy fall or winter day. So much vibrance in in the still air. Nice video! Appreciate the work you do!!! Have you been to Lake Ozette in the Olympic National Park? There's a 9ish mile triangle hike that goes to Cape Alava (3m), down the shoreline (3m) to Sand Point and back (3m) to Lake Ozette. ONP has a great wilderness map with details. Kind of out of the way, but a photographers dream! A lot of resemblance to the parts in this video. If you're ever up for an adventure, this is a great spot! Be mindful of the Tide! -Bud
Sometimes you can get so caught up in the hunt for a “perfect” photo that you end up not finding anything or fall into a rut. Looks like you returned to your roots and everything lined up for a great day!
Nick, we get skies like that all the time on the North Carolina coast. We don't have the rocks but old broken piers work in their place. Love the images.
Beautiful video, love the forest and the sun rays. Thanks for always adding the how to background info and why you compose the way you do. Glad you finally had the light for coast shots. Just beautiful. Congrats on the truck!
New music for photo-showing section ? That's nice :) I kinda like the first 3 woodland shots more than the seascapes, all great photos in deed though !
No Bull Bars on the front of your car Nick. Be careful how you slow down at road junctions (especially when behind Gavin Hardcastle !!!) Great images as usual Nick, glad you got the light you've been waiting for.
So good to see you in better spirits. After your last video it actually left me concerned and I recently lost a classmate that seemed like the happiest guy ever and he jumped off a bridge. For all the critics and perhaps mean comments you get let me say from my heart that what you do inspires me and brings light, never darkness. I know we all question our abilities at times and the only thing that could "suck" is not trying to better ourselves or be inspired to keep doing what we're doing. If photography ever stopped inspiring you (or anyone) sometimes change is in order. Your abilities go far beyond making images, you have the gift of being a great teacher as well. Best of luck on your new ride, may it take you great places!
Good on ye, Nick. As soon as I saw you walking down the path to the beach, I knew which Mesa Arch location you were at. I remember making that walk down. Pretty perilous given my vestibular neuritis at the time. The walk out nearly killed me! The weather gods were kind to you this day, great conditions and another great video. Good to have you back!
Thanks, Nick. Glad to see you back on track. I needed this one, too. Moved to Bend, OR in October and an hoping to get over to the Coast. Moving and settling in and the holidays has kept me from getting out and shooting. But this provided some great inspiration. You were the first photography RUclipsr I watched. This was a couple of years ago and I was looking for information on photographing the Oregon Coast. One of your early videos came up and I was hooked. Been watching ever since. Keep it coming!
awesome shots. It's always a thrill and blessing when the location, light and clouds come together. It's the emotional wow that gets us out there. Love your videos. Great eye. Thanks for sharing!
Spectacular in every way Nick! From beginning to end and even the pitch on the new truck which has me thinking about one now. Ha! I have an 01 Tahoe with 265k miles so I purchased a Pilot but now my wife needs a car and giving her the Pilot and me getting a Colorado sounds appealing. At 6’3” I need leg room so I’ll check it out. I’ve been missing your videos and this was a home run to return with. Superb! Top class!
I keep going back to the same place on Long Beach Washington, Beards Cove, to get an "iconic" shot of waves, rock, and sun. I know the shot exists, but it is elusive. I think I get close to my vision and to my eye it looks as if I do, but not. I'll keep trying. Thanks for your inspiring videos!
I hear you on the "I needed this". Our country is currently burning out of control so the past 2 month's have proven extremely difficult getting any good light what so ever.
You had a good day for pictures Nick. Always satisfying to get a few keepers on an outing and you got more than that. Nice truck too. Wish i could get a new truck as I've got a lot of miles on mine currently.
Great video. I’m totally relaxed. I learned a few things from it. And you’re right about the incredible conditions and killer sky. Great photos! Alive Alive Alive!
Catching up on your videos Nick. Living by the CA coast, I know what you mean about marine layer and getting good sunsets. Looks like a perfect evening to be shooting the Oregon Coast. Thanks for sharing with us
Your off and running now Nick. You are so blessed to be able to have that in your backyard to shoot. I live in Missouri and you really have to travel south to get great landscapes. I will be retiring soon and hope to take a workshop sometime. I get the light snob thing..to find and epic image you cant settle for mediocre light. Happy New Year fellow photographer.
Grear video Nick! Thanks for sharing. Can you tell where exactly these locations are? I also love trees with long moss hanging from the branches (like those you find in Hoh Rain Forest). Also, can you advise me of parks or trails in the Portland or Columbia River Gorge areas where are can find this sort of beautiful location? Thanks!
Great video, living on the east coast of NH and shooting sunrises, I totally agree about the clouds making the image. Plenty of times I've got up early to drive down in the dark only to be disappointed that the weather aps lied and it was a clear sky. I won't even bother shooting it, I'm a snob like that too lol I would never leave my bag unzipped though that close to the water, especially salt water. Just as you mentioned, a rogue wave could take that right over. Had a friend of mine go into the ocean with his gear. That's why I never get that close. Love you channel! Watched it my whole work day.
Hello Nick, nice to see that your mojo is on the rise. Simply loved those forest shots with those rays of light heading to the top right-hand corner, loved that one. As usual, you are the King of Seascapes taking the time to take different lengths of exposures. As for your truck - it is stupendous. Great Work, Nick!
Gorgeous work Nick. Can't wait to go back to the coast. I'm hoping for some good snow around Mt Hood and cold enough temps to make some ice around the waterfalls soon.
Hey Nick I was pumped for you watching this as the pictures unfolded . Happy you had a perfect day as I too am going through a not taking great landscape pic phase with regards of light. So I can relate. cheers man the pics are rocking here!
Nick, Nick, Nick. Thanks, I needed this video. First off let me say this is the first content of yours I've ever seen. To me, you nailed it (others may argue, let them). 1. The story of the video well done explaining what, why, etc. 2. The video (What I mean is, too many times when a photographer makes a video the color grading isn't that great and many times the audio is third rate.) 3. The photos (Now there may not have been a lot, but the ones you shared were 'spot on.) For those reasons I'm clicking the SUBSCRIBE, and ringing the bell. Now I need to dig into your channel's video and see if I can find a couple/few things. A. What you used to ediit your videos B. How you color grade your videos C. What you used to edit your photos D. How you color grade your photos (I had just ordered the X-rite ColorChecker) E. How you chose what F-stops to use in a particular situation. Thanks Nick for all the hard work that is took to make this video.
the south Skagit highway from Darrington to Sedro Woolley is loaded with mossy oak groves and the road passes right through scene after scene it is amazing on sunny days.
All i could say is just WOW! Watching your videos is such good therapy for me! I feel your excitement ! Can’t wait to go to Oregon! Thank you for making my day Nick! You have a special gift!
Great start to the year for you. I instead knocked my camera, lens, flash and tripod into the river when I attempted to move a branch out of my way. The branch snapped back, smacking my tripod, sending it into the river. The lens was the only good lens I had. Everything is in bags of rice now, but I'm not optimistic. Happy frickin new year.
Awesome video Nick and congrats on the new truck. With Good gear and reliable transportation that just leaves the rest up to you and mother nature. Here’s to a great 2020.
Fantastic shots, great to see you excited about being out there. I've seen so many grey days lately, I'm hoping to get a chance to see some conditions that get me excited to be shooting again soon.
Dude so good to see you beaming with happy happy joy joy light!!! Great vid, great intro with the red beast hopefully Gavin doesn’t hurt your baby this year, great light, great shots just awesome to see you in your element 👍🏻👍🏻🔥🔥🔥
Great video Nick. I would love to see a post processing video on these awesome shots. I also liked that you explained a bit around the scene like the marine layer. Brgrds, Thomas
The spider web was a great accent to the first shot! If you haven't sold your Baroud there are several companies that make racks that will tie into the "roll bar". You could keep the tent AND the bed cover. Just a thought.
The truck looks awesome, it should get you where you want to be for epic shots. I am glad everything lined up and you had a good day. We are looking forward to some great content this year, Happy New Year
Great light and images...I especially liked the cobweb caught in the first image with the tree and sunrays...loved the video,a great start to the year!
Excellent video Nick. Your work is the most inspirational in all of RUclips. I'm was so anxious to watch it when Danny messaged me that you had one out. It's been way too long since I've been to OR. It's on my list for 2020. Keep rocking the videos brother. 👏👏👍👍👍
Excellent video Nick. I really enjoy your videos that you do by yourself. The whole dynamic changes when you team up with your "buddies". I believe your solo videos are by far superior!!!

New year. New truck. Killer Oregon coast images. You’re off to a good start in 2020 Nick! Stay upbeat brother. Cheers!

You're going to give Adam a run with those forest shots! Beautiful!
Beautiful day, man, that sunset and those rocks were fantastic. However, I think that first forest shot might have been even better. What a great day!
Sometimes you can get so caught up in the hunt for a “perfect” photo that you end up not finding anything or fall into a rut. Looks like you returned to your roots and everything lined up for a great day!
True!
I feel ya. I drove 58k miles in less than 2 years in my brand new truck. Warranty is long gone. When the inspiration calls you just gotta go!
Nick, we get skies like that all the time on the North Carolina coast. We don't have the rocks but old broken piers work in their place. Love the images.
Thank you for sharing Nick, fantastic footage
The last photo is absolutely amazing, but man, let me tell you that the frame that made this video's thumb makes a terrific wallpaper 😂
What a beautiful and magical place to just wander, clear your head and photograph!!!!!!
Brilliant, Nick! so glad to see you perk up a bit my man.
Beautiful light in all of the photos and the forest is so green. It's pretty much a brown winter here in Missouri.
No Bull Bars on the front of your car Nick. Be careful how you slow down at road junctions (especially when behind Gavin Hardcastle !!!)
Great images as usual Nick, glad you got the light you've been waiting for.
This was just an amazing video. Loved the photos and your explanations, as well. Gorgeous!

"Back to the beginning". Nick, I really like your prints, such talent.
Good on ye, Nick. As soon as I saw you walking down the path to the beach, I knew which Mesa Arch location you were at. I remember making that walk down. Glad to see you back on the coast chasing light. Oh and Nice Truck!
Dude, these images are amazing, not only that, but the video itself looks so cinematic as well. Nice work, keep putting out killer content!
awesome shots. It's always a thrill and blessing when the location, light and clouds come together. It's the emotional wow that gets us out there. Love your videos. Great eye. Thanks for sharing!
Great sunset shots. Cool music. And I love the new truck. Good on ya.
Spectacular in every way Nick! From beginning to end and even the pitch on the new truck which has me thinking about one now. Ha! some superb images - loved all the misty tree pics... excellent.
Epic pictures. That was one solid day out taking pictures. Thanks for sharing.
Glad to see you looking at peace in this video.
that woodland shot is absolutely amazing! and the last shot... Just wow :)

Nice photo vlag Nick. I love that lighting you go on the coast. Thats what makes real photogs... going back over over until you finally get the light.
Around 5.15 in you stand with the back to the camera and have the sun infront. Hope you took a selfie there. It was really cool. 😀
Congrats on the new truck! Great video and images! Beautiful location!

Breaking the dry spell! Congratualtions!
What a wonderful day it looks like you had. The shots are stunning! Glad you got to be there. Oh, I also dig the new ride!

Amazing cinematics, nice music and killer images! Keep up the good work!
Music choices Nick are on point 👍 reminds me of Clint Eastwood riding into town with an overly sensitive mule.
Gorgeous work Nick. Can't wait to go back to the coast. I'm hoping for some good snow around Mt Hood and cold enough temps to make some ice around the waterfalls soon.
Ah - sometimes the stars align - really great photos - pleased for you and grateful for you sharing!!
Nothing like awesome conditions to boost morale. Great photos. Best wishes for 2020.
Those are the kind of days that can satiate a photographer for a long time. Beautiful images, Nick!
My new favourite photographer. Thanks for the tip Mads and thanks for the tips Nick.
Hey Nick I was pumped for you watching this as the pictures unfolded . Happy you had a perfect day as I too am going through a not taking great landscape pic phase with regards of light. So I can relate. cheers man the pics are rocking here!

Fabulous photos Nick, just catching up on your site as I’m a new subscriber from the UK. All the best. Graham 🇬🇧🇬🇧📸

Amazing conditions! Beautiful images!
Nice truck. Nice ball head. Nice work ! Keep it up Nick. And Happy New Year from "sunny" Scotland.
Awesome video Nick and congrats on the new truck. With Good gear and reliable transportation that just leaves the rest up to you and mother nature. Here’s to a great 2020.
Beautiful shots and such a beautiful place to just be. The red in those high clouds is incredible!
First time tuning into your channel Nick. Nice work on those coastal scenes. The bell has been rung.
Great shoots. Surprised you never used a grad filter on sky.
Great Video and Great Photos Nick! Welcome Home..
Fantastic shots, great to see you excited about being out there. I've seen so many grey days lately, I'm hoping to get a chance to see some conditions that get me excited to be shooting again soon.
Thank for the beauty you capture and bring back to all of us.

Great video Nick. I would love to see a post processing video on these awesome shots. I also liked that you explained a bit around the scene like the marine layer. Brgrds, Thomas
Great job, Nick. I really enjoyed this laid back video. Your videos are getting better all the time. Thanks for sharing!
Just one word to describe....EPIC
Glad you got your mojo back Nick. Great shots. Hope I can get something half as good on Isle of Skye in May
Glad you had one of those ‘GOOD DAYS’ my man! 👏🏻🤜🏼🤛🏼
The spider web was a great accent to the first shot!
If you haven't sold your Baroud there are several companies that make racks that will tie into the "roll bar". You could keep the tent AND the bed cover. Just a thought.
Great work Nick and awesome light moments for you.
Wow! Beautiful photos. Thanks for the great tips.
What a great start to the year! Nice one, Nick.
Nice car and nice vid. Love your work. Guten Morgen aus Deutschland 🇩🇪
Beautiful images! Great video. Thanks for sharing.
I dunno, I think the seafoam gives it a surreal feel. Great shots Nick, wish it wasn't so far from the Tri-Cities!
Cool opening shot Nick. I like the new car.
Chuffed for you Nick... A lot of top images captured today. New year, new truck maybe some new luck? Happy New Year all 👍🇬🇧
Excellent video Nick. Your work is the most inspirational in all of RUclips. I'm was so anxious to watch it when Danny messaged me that you had one out. It's been way too long since I've been to OR. It's on my list for 2020. Keep rocking the videos brother. 👏👏👍👍👍
Looks like your new truck is your Lucky charm mate it’s not very often you get conditions like it’s all in one day
I’m stoked for you
Great therapy Nick! Thanks for the vid on the coast. Looking forward on the next one.
Good for you. I think my faves were the first in each series, the first forest and the first seascape. But I'll take any of them. :)
Heading down to Cape Kiwanda area next week for a few days of seascape shooting. Thanks for the inspiration. I
Excellent video Nick. I really enjoy your videos that you do by yourself. The whole dynamic changes when you team up with your "buddies". I believe your solo videos are by far superior!!!
