I'm a simple man. I see a video about a white explorer, I'm clicking on the video lol. Always nice to see others enjoy a white explorer as much as I do. I picked up the white 70s explorer a few years ago Loved it! Just got the new 80's White explorer, which is a dream guitar, obviously due to James Hetfield. Great video!
I'm a casual guitarist at best but seeing a room full of equipment like this from some random guy with 73 subs is insane. The amount of knowledge that the most unassuming people have will always blow my mind.
I own a 93 custom shop in heritage cherry. Owned it since 97. Got it for 700 at GC Boston. I'm a bigger guy so it fits me better lol. I like the way the neck sits forward. Plus it plays and sounds incredible. Sounds killer through either of my Marshall stacks.
I own a 2000 Gibson gothic and a 83. I also own 99 prelawsuit ESP. I love explorers. But plying them? I play a les Paul every day. I switch between a axcess, and 2 standards with 50s necks- a dark cherry burst and blueberry. I also heavily use an esp mh1000 in that mix and I play 30 mins to 2 hours daily. I don’t think explorers are the ultimate rock guitar though. That will be strat or SG then Les Paul. As for who made the explorer cool- white and black explorers was all Hetfield. And that was a solution when his V broke.

The 80s ones look nice to, but I'm kind of partial to the classic look with the pickguard (I'd still rock one tho)
@@Sound_String Can't go wrong with either! I may get some white knobs for my 70's. Those looked so good on yours
I have an ‘82 E2 Explorer in tobacco burst and it rules.
I haven't played one personally, but those seem super cool. Does yours have binding?
I have the same guitar except it is an '81...bought it new back then and gigged many years with it....great guitar but heavy MF'r!
@@Sound_String they have bound body but not the neck.
Cheap Trick played a lot of Explorers, Scorps, Edge, Hettfield, and Hagar.
Good points on all accounts
great looking guitar- wanted one for a while just like that. thanks and great find! also like ur upgrades
Thanks!

Haha, I've got a very cool friend with a cool studio
Thanks for checking out the video
Scorpions (jabs) are the white explorer benchmark.

I feel like that's a pretty solid deal even back then
They are way more comfortable than they would seem
Those pickups do sound sweet. I have a Explorer Warmoth build in the pipeline. I was gonna go Burstbucker but will consider this Duncan set.
A lot of good duncan options
@@Sound_String have you tried the 59/custom hybrid? Thoughts?
@@dbrown6451 As a matter of fact, I have. I have on in the bridge of my parts tele --> ruclips.net/video/LTRByCDrCUY/видео.html
The video Too Much Time on My Hands by Styx. Tommy Shaw is playing a white Gibson Explorer in that
Heck yeah, I'll have to revisit that video
Bruce kulick of KISS played one in the early nineties non makeup kiss days
...... The guitar is awesome!!....You? Not so much.
Well, thanks for watching anyway!

I certainly wouldn't say you're wrong for playing a les paul, there's a reason(s) they're such a popular instrument
