Those are good machines. Ours is a 98 model and we bought it when it was 2 years old. We just got done packing several cylinders including the extend a hoe cylinder and that thing is back like new again.
310 John deere was the first backhoe I ever ran. Good machine. Now we have a Case 580 super know with everything your John Deere has plus a 4 in 1 bucket. Only thing we wish we had to add to it would be flip over forks.
nice find,, can't believe your leaving the case family,,, probably have a few more of those repacking to do, just where it has sat for so long,,, watch out for that dang cylinder sticking up in the front.... keep up the good work.
Hey, looks like a nice clean backhoe for the year, I have a 1988 backhoe that I still have in full-time service, very useful piece of equipment to own!
That JD backhoe runs as good as the day it was built by the looks of things. JD makes wonderful equipment. My friends father has a 3020 Diesel tractor from 1964 that runs really decent, and my cousins who work in the firewood business have a 1964 JD cable skidder that has no problem dragging trees to the landing to be sawed and loaded onto a trailer.
I have a 97 310E 2 wheel drive cab. No extend a hoe, 3600 hours retired from gas company. Great machine! Do not put a hamer on back, it will crack and ruin the boom. take one hinge off at a time heat with torch it will free up let cool and put back on. mine were froze too on one side.
Nice. Just let that lube stand in those window hinges and I bet they'll let go after a while. Apply a bit more now and then. Wow, I don't think I've ever not heard a backhoe stick operate. Not a clunk, or thunk, amazing. The more I watch you use it the more amazed I get at how quite that arm is! Not to mention how smooth it seems it is. You got a good machine there. Thanks for the video.
I always like JD backhoes. I am from up in PA . That RSC company when out of business and got bought out i think by United Rental like 8 or 10 years ago. I remember alot of machines where actioned of at that time
thats amazing that the boom has no play in it. i didnt hear any wiggle at all. that is unreal. how did you get that machine for any less than a small fortune?
I am happy for you Chris. It is nice to see that somebody is still able to find a very good deal on used equipment still! Now, do we start a pool as to how long before you 1. Install a thumb on the dipper-stick. 2. How long before you are able to sell the old CASE backhoe!
Nice machine. I wonder if the Sheffield Rental is a used part to replace the original that got bent up. Or maybe RCB bought the Sheffield store. Sounds great and tight. Maybe you could take off the hinges and work with them till they free up. I've gotten some really rusty hinges to work like new.
I know I am way late on this vid. But. Those hinges you replaced. If ever have a issue like that again. Just pop them off and soak them in transmission fluid for a day or so. It cuts the crud and rust. I use it on parts old rusty tools etc. It really works
Besides having a counter whight. JD has a over center lock unlock system that's better than Case. Doors on both sides for years made. And a shuttle leaver plate that helps keep it from being engaged when entering or leaving machine.
Whats the max hours you can get out of these motors. I been looking into buying a used backhoe but all have about 3200 hours. I been looking for one with lower hours.
***** Thanks. I just didnt know how many hours the motors would last. I live in South Texas so the majority of these have been used in the oil field work.
I have the same machine (1998). My problem with it now is a rotted out hydraulic relief valve in the loader control valve body inside the battery box. The sulfuric acid vapors in the battery box apparently attacked the relief valve and it began leaking. All my oil drained out of the reservoir tank through the leak. The part is the size of my thumb and costs $500 .
That's it when your are looking for something without needing it here and now. Then you'r able to find god stuff like that one. Wish you good luck with it.
They are a good machine. I seen that name and had to laugh. I hope that helps. Great videos by the way big fan. We are the CID Xtreme Attachments distributor in the north east. They had told me about you I think you did some videos on some of there products.
It's a 1998 because ours is a 310SE and that's a 1999. Also watch the hydraulic pins on the banana arm. Then the hydraulic pump under the cab tends to tricky. Then all the back boom seals they are tricky bastards. But overall nice deal
Stick a thumb on it, it's done! Scaring up an AC kit for it should be a snap. I sat here at breakfast listening to it work, it simply is tighter than a tick. Those tires make me concerned tho. How are the rubbers on the other one? Can you swap them out?
Before you get new hinges I would highly recommend that you try Fluid film. It's a penetrating fluid spray that comes in an aerosol can. I swear by it!!! Another one I like is called Releasal.
Heat always work I didn't want to ask if you tried that just in case there were any rubber seals in them hinges. Also, I did forget to mention to you about a old farmers concussion here in Canada. Perhaps you've heard of it. You mix some acetone with transmission fluid. The acetone helps make the transmission fluid more fluid and the transmission fluid has a built in acid that will eat corrosion. Maybe you've heard of it or not. I've taken pieces of metal like hinges and submerged them in a small container of it over night and it ate all the corrosion off. It might be worth a try.
RSC bought out every small company they could for years before selling to united. Someone peeled the RSC sticker off and had the original rental co sticker underneath.
Hey man where are you located I'm in Northwest tnn have a small project of capping off a bottom I have to turn it into a pond was wondering how to get an appraisal
Its probably a good tractor. That is a good tractor from the start. Look at this way my dad had 426 cat with x tenda hoe 4x4 with a wain Roy bucket. A cab also. He had a guy run it and that's what he did. They came from a big co. That bought back hoes like that did not matter they alll same . U was the same machine all time. They did not buy cabs. Never. Ok they graded townhouse yard s islands verything it's simply just what they ddi. This guy nice and I learned a lot. The way they bought loaders was from 953 to a 963. And the 973 was heat no cabs with the cat clearing racks. It's a good possibility that some of those things never seen clearing but that's what they did. Same from dozers pans everything they all something that maybe didn't matter on a dozers the common thing was know cabs. They had some 973 loaders and got rid of them I guess in Maryland with weight laws that the had to go to the truck 4 times. With the 973 it was 4 with a half bucket. So they bought 953 to 963 and it's been the same.so when my dad left he was on a 953 and cleared cut curb even digging basements . But he had talent and could do it. Some guys get on a dirt crew and stay. His loaders looked the same as there's when he left. Backhoe the same but the guy wouldn't come to work if he couldn't get a cab. So he got cab. He moved on after a while and 18 I took over. M
Sorry that tractor had 6000 hrs obit when we traded for 310sg . The last 4 was me over 12 years it came with 2 buckets low short 42 in grading bucket. And 24 tooth. That 24 still had the original teeth ll I did was grade one time I drove it to a basement that was ready to backfill and stretched it all out so I could see what it looked like digging a whole. Yeah just see. So there u go. You never know but that never really did anything but grade.
Those are good machines. Ours is a 98 model and we bought it when it was 2 years old. We just got done packing several cylinders including the extend a hoe cylinder and that thing is back like new again.
how hard is the extendahoe one to get out? i cant even see the end LOL
310 John deere was the first backhoe I ever ran. Good machine. Now we have a Case 580 super know with everything your John Deere has plus a 4 in 1 bucket. Only thing we wish we had to add to it would be flip over forks.

Hey, looks like a nice clean backhoe for the year, I have a 1988 backhoe that I still have in full-time service, very useful piece of equipment to own!
Nice score, great shape and a reasonable price, you cannot complain about that rig.
I wish you the best of luck with it Chris you got a fantastic deal on the machine enjoy it !!!
Steven No
Got yourself a great bargain there Chris. Take care, love your videos. Graham 🇬🇧🇬🇧
HOME RUM !!!! very nice JD , cleaned up real nice . Give it a good service and it will be ready to go .
Did I miss it? How much did you pay if you don't mind? Just curious really, not looking to buy one myself just yet.
Great looking backhoe. Deere machines are hard to beat around that model like the Deere G model dozers are great machines too.
Well. Chris it looks like a nice addition to your equipment list, good luck with it
Is that front right tire on backwards? That's a sweet machine.
I was just about to point that out about the tire
Love2boat92 yeah it's on backwards I'll probably put all new ones on it anyways
Yes it is.
Really? Those look good to me.
The really cut up. Esp the front ones. This is the famous Zach btw lol.
I think you got a great buy even if you had to drive along way to get it.
Should do you great for many years the way you look after your equipment.
Nice Backhoe Chris!👍🏻🇺🇸......Still think you need a TrackLoader in YOU fleet .👍🏻
I think you will be well satisfied with it. Drop it off before hot weather and I'll get a Red Dot 9777 installed like I put in my 580K.
I love my 310e! 97 mdl with 5600 hrs on the clock had 1800 when I bought it in 2002.
Hey Chris, just curious how this 310E is holding up on you, this machine end up being as good as a deal as you thought it was?
Looks like a real nice machine Chris. Congrats.
Nice looking backhoe it looks like it's in real good shape.
I am happy for you Chris. It is nice to see that somebody is still able to find a very good deal on used equipment still!
Now, do we start a pool as to how long before you
1. Install a thumb on the dipper-stick.
2. How long before you are able to sell the old CASE backhoe!
That looks like a fine machine and should serve you well. I bet it will real difficult to grease though first time around!
oh it was a pain in the ass, ive got about 3-4 fittings that still wont take
You keep getting bigger and better. Growth is a great thing!
Dam! That thing is part dozer!!! Pushed that pile back without breaking a sweat. Just needs a little air in the front left tire
Great find, looks + sounds like it's barely run in. Best of luck with it.
Nice machine! Can add a 4 in 1 bucket and thumb later.
hey nice machine. was it worth the money? also wondering what you hauled it with?
Nice machine, hope you got a heckuva deal.
I live 45 minutes from where you bought your John Deere 310E backhoe. I watch your channel everyday and have been wondering how to become an operator.
definitely smoother operating than the case, but the case is a good one too.
Very nice new Backhoe Chris, looks awesome Chris
That backhoe use to be in my home town. Pretty cool
Looks like a good machine Chris, you should put a thumb on it, and repaint the loader arms. 👍🏻
Lucky dog..lol..Nice machine..Great find!!
just used one of these as a rental about a month ago. nice machine made a video of it
Nice machine, I just picked up a JD 320D skid steer with 728 hrs for 14k at an auction. It's got a few minor kinks but I really like it.
Mr Nate thats not even broken in yet
Jake Penniman Ya, I've already put about 400 hrs on it and it runs like a champ.
On the backhoe boom, is the pin holding the inboard end of the cylinder, free to move? What happened at 6:50 with the pin turning around?
I'm predicting several more duck ponds on the farm. Lol
Looks like a good deal Chris.
Don't see j Deere construction equip this side of the pond but that machine is lively .... Nice buy
I know I am way late on this vid. But. Those hinges you replaced. If ever have a issue like that again. Just pop them off and soak them in transmission fluid for a day or so. It cuts the crud and rust. I use it on parts old rusty tools etc. It really works
I bought one just like it for 83,000. Mine is in a little worse shape and has no window. What did you give.
Damn watching you dig with it, that is a nice tight machine...
Besides having a counter whight. JD has a over center lock unlock system that's better than Case. Doors on both sides for years made. And a shuttle leaver plate that helps keep it from being engaged when entering or leaving machine.
He's in Heaven! He's in Heaven!
Damn nice find there Sir.
Left front tire is on backwards. nice find!
nice machine, needs any work, cheap and easy to fix!
a 410E is a good machine for the work your doing. whether it's for construction site work or home farm work it's a great machine
Marvel mystery oil on the hinges maybe. It will free up an engine, it should free the hinges.
Congrats, we had a 410E and it was the best machine in the world, and was only replaced because we wanted to upgrade to a G model.
That front bucket curl cylinder would drive me nuts sticking up like that.
How much did you get it for?
Whats the max hours you can get out of these motors. I been looking into buying a used backhoe but all have about 3200 hours. I been looking for one with lower hours.
justin has 7-8k hours on his
I would buy a taken care of machine with 10K hours before I bought a 3200hr ex-rental. It's obvious when you look at them...
***** Thanks. I just didnt know how many hours the motors would last. I live in South Texas so the majority of these have been used in the oil field work.
rental machines take a beating, that why i cant figure out why mine is so nice. couldnt have been rented long
sheffield's rental was owned by one of my cusins but was sold out to rsc around the mid 90's
Right front tire is backards, nice machine
Those are nice machines...you'll love it enough to send your Case to me! ;)
Chris what brand is it ? Looking good Matey
Nice sounding and can tell it’s solid!! Love it
I have the same machine (1998).
Yikes...
nice machine - if Im not being too bold how dear ($) did that baby come to you ?........just for comparison in my seach for same thing - thanks
That's it when your are looking for something without needing it here and now.
Then you'r able to find god stuff like that one.
Wish you good luck with it.
nice buy. wish I could find one like that. wait, what are you doing with the other one you have? Are you going to sell it??
Those are great machines.that is like mine
What cha gunna do with the case ,and how much ?
That is a great deal you got,I imagine it would be possible to add a 4 in one bucket to it?
How much trouble would it be to put a 4in1 on it? Good looking machine!
more than i want to spend lol i can manage without one
10-4! I've been wanting to get one for awhile to start doing side work with. Maybe one day!
Even the brake lights work ...score!!
Is that front right tire on backwards?
sweet loader nice and tight tons of power. if you dont mine me asking about ho w much is cost? give or take a few K
Holidaysburg Pa? That's up in my neck of the woods!
Congrats on your score !!! some minor work and you are good to go.
They are a good machine. I seen that name and had to laugh. I hope that helps. Great videos by the way big fan. We are the CID Xtreme Attachments distributor in the north east. They had told me about you I think you did some videos on some of there products.
Nick Miller yeah we have a CID mower for the skid steer and mini.
It's a 1998 because ours is a 310SE and that's a 1999. Also watch the hydraulic pins on the banana arm. Then the hydraulic pump under the cab tends to tricky. Then all the back boom seals they are tricky bastards. But overall nice deal
Good find, now for a little TLC.
Beautiful! Now, can you drive it up to NJ and turn my compost pile for me? **grins and bats her eyelashes**
Donna M. Schmid You'll have to ask his live in friend if it's okay lol
That's ok... He can come, too! (Especially if he brings along some of the piglets and geese!) :-)
Great deal I have driven 500 mi to get a piece of equipment
Stick a thumb on it, it's done! Scaring up an AC kit for it should be a snap.
I sat here at breakfast listening to it work, it simply is tighter than a tick.
Those tires make me concerned tho. How are the rubbers on the other one? Can you swap them out?
Jealous!
My guess is you could make a few bucks reselling it.....but why? They are few and far between in this shape.
Great find!
chris check out the clam shell backhoe buckets they are handy you don't need a thumb and its like a 4 in 1 for the backhoe
Good buy!
what are you gonna do with the case?
Spazamazz i know im commenting to a one year opd comment but he can prob sell it to get a bobcat skid steer or a bobcat mini excavator or both
I'm happy for you I've got a 310 c jd
310 E the Best backhoe!!
looks like a good buy
Before you get new hinges I would highly recommend that you try Fluid film. It's a penetrating fluid spray that comes in an aerosol can. I swear by it!!! Another one I like is called Releasal.
i managed to take them off and heat them up good with oil and got one side to work again.
Heat always work I didn't want to ask if you tried that just in case there were any rubber seals in them hinges. Also, I did forget to mention to you about a old farmers concussion here in Canada. nice tractor its got good break out force have a great day
Use 50/50 Trasnmission fluid/Acetone mix on the hinges.. be patient.. it will get it!
looks like a good new rig
hey Chris, use aerokroil on them there hinges. it works.
"lil old lady only drove it on Sundays" Man you do really get lucky sometimes lol
RSC bought out every small company they could for years before selling to united. Someone peeled the RSC sticker off and had the original rental co sticker underneath.
Hey man where are you located I'm in Northwest tnn have a small project of capping off a bottom I have to turn it into a pond was wondering how to get an appraisal
im in NC, little too far

nice tight low hour machine... pretty tough to go wrong with a Deere...
dam fine score!! one front tire is on backwards lol
wouldn't a compact track loader or a cab tractor be better since you already have an excavator?
i really needed a mini excavator but those things are just insane in prices new and used
