  • Kiln Load Mishap! I accidentally set my kiln hold time to 15 hours instead of 15 minutes!!! Caught the error 9 HOURS into the hold! What do you think about the results?!
To watch the glazing video for these cups, you may want to see what they looked like right after glazing them • GLAZING #6 - Some Siev... ! This 365 adventure in cups has really caused me to grow!
    What do you think?
    Thanks for watching~ :D

Oh, the drama of it all! What a great result. It is always the accidents and irregularities that give us the greatest pleasure. Some really beautiful cups. They seem to glow with the extra heat work.

Ok I couldn't stand it another minute!!! I was amazed that there was any glaze at all left on the cups and then the fact that they were incredibly beautiful was just the best outcome!! I cannot imagine a better result. Looking forward to the next opening that I hope won't be as stressful

Absolutely beautiful results! Holding at max temp is a great idea... maybe cone 6 for one hour instead of nine!!! I was so afraid of what could have happened but then I started thinking about the very long firings I've seen on RUclips and wondered if it just might be beautiful! We are blessed, Janice

LoL always weird looking into the kiln after firing. Funny , sometimes the pieces say , “worried about me , why ?”
I open my first glaze firing today … in my home made kiln.

I'm going to make you wait for my comment like I had to wait for the kiln opening! Lol

Wow your Temuko is a nice brown. The one I use it a really deep brown which I don't mind. I love your green too!!! That would be nice on craved cups.

Hi there!!!! Sorry for the delay in responding :) Depending on it's severity you can use anything from sand paper to a belt sander. If it's just kiln wash, sometimes I use the concrete floor in my studio or rub the bottoms of two cups together. I have a dremmel as well and it was too weak as well. Towards the end of the 365 project I had my husband fire up his belt sander to get the glaze off!

Ah they're so pretty! What size is your kiln? I've started doing ceramics and am *vaguely* looking at getting a kiln. I think my bank balance might tell me to wait a while though.

Thank you so much Janet!!! I have a Skutt KM1018 which I bought off of craigslist. Prior to that I bought a kiln for $50 (it was a manual Duncan kiln) it lasted me well, but kept my eye out for upgrades (at a discount). It's SO WORTH it to have a kiln, but make sure you have the right electrical hook ups and all that before investing. Sometimes waiting is a good thing, it gives you more time to think and plan as you increase skills :D !! Enjoy the journey Janet...it's a BLAST!

@potterylady1 The bare Tem. was that really dark black/brown and the 9 hour hold made it have this mottled look...so awesome.

@jcrefasi1 That's exactly how I felt after shutting the kiln down when I realized it was still running! . I knew there was only one thing I could do and that was wait. SO excited when I cracked the hood!! A friend Joel said there is a big difference between "heat work & temperature". Something I have yet to learn about, but I think that was the reason it didn't ooze over...this was "heat work" :D Thanks so much for riding this out with me :D!!!

@janicethepotter That would be Laguna - "Fern Mist" I got it a while back along with the person I bought the kiln from. I need to restock as well...it's my favorite! Axner is the only place I found so far that sells it dry.

Tammy Jo! I realize this is an old video(I'm slowly working my way through all of your FAB videos). Also-sent you a facebook friend request in case you're wondering who that strange lady is. Just wanted to ask-how DO you fix a mug that has kiln wash and glaze dipped at the bottom? I've tried using my dremmel tool but it takes forever and I'm never that happy with the results. :( Any thoughts?

The Temuko looks like "true" Temuko to me. The blending of the glazes is beautiful. What is the full name and manufacturer of the green glaze? I intend to buy a few pounds! Lovely pots, Janice

@credenza1 Yeah, I was feelin' the drama! I'm definitely leaving future cups on a longer hold time (not 9 hours). I was so happy :) Thanks Stu!
