respect for saying what? that he wants a job. join the club. sounds more like whining. give me a job and give me lots of money. respect for that? he pitch only 1 good yr. after a bad yr. and he has injury history.
what has he done to gain respect? come on a show and complain that he hasnt received an offer to his liking. welcome to the club dude. has his agent called teams? isnt that what we do when we mere mortals need a job?
I'm not an expert so I don't know how to evaluate him. But I like him. If possible, I hope he will do well for Dodgers like he did last year. I'm grateful as one of Dodgers fans. Thank you, Jack. from Japan
Those 2nd start dropped his value ! Game one looked like an ace and and 2nd one pitched bad all of them ! So if he pitched once every series,he would got a bag
"I don't understand!" He is a great regular season pitcher but his postseason record likely scares off most of the top contending teams. I think he is worth it though for the right price.
Worse pitchers than Flaherty are all getting over 20 mil a year this off-season. I'm sure he will get something pretty big because of how durable he is.
@@SuperCatacata He is that and better than most pitchers, but the only reason I can see teams are shy about him is the post season record, he has not been good in the playoffs.
A lot of owners not spending & that's what's bad for baseball. Jack is a great guy and played a huge roll for the Dodgers. I wish the Dodgers could find room to keep him.
I think the expanded playoffs have shown that the teams that spend the most don’t win the majority of the time. This last year was an exception but what is their incentive to spend? We need a salary floor more than we need a ceiling.
I really think there will be a baseball strike in 2027. Teams not paying long term deal for mid-high level players. Props to Flaherty for speaking up. It’s dangerous to do so not having a job now.
This offseason made me realize that all team owners except for maybe 3 or 4 don't care about winning. They only care about profits, regardless if their team ends up last. All the free agents that are available to this day and no one's signing them. The Dodgers are able to sign them because nobody wants to, and then everybody's blaming the Dodgers for signing free agent after agent. Team owners don't care, they're just waiting for their share of the luxury tax paid by the Dodgers and other teams who actually care. They don't care that the Astros cheated their way to a championship as long they share in the profits. And then they're gonna demand a lockout claiming they're losing money. They're all in cahoots (most of them anyway). They're scamming the fans. Two decades ago I wondered why other teams were letting the Yankees get all the best players. I was under the wrong impression that team owners cared about competing and winning.
He’s still waiting on another dodger pitcher to get hurt. He’s from la his mom still lives there and he wants to be there. If you saw the parade he was the mvp(most valuable partier😂)
Goddamn. I almost (almost) wish we didn’t get Sasaki so we can have Jack back. Thanks again for a great post season Jack. I have to imagine one of these idiot owners are going realize they need Jack and sign him.
@ I know. That’s why I said almost. But gotta respect a guy who stands up for a team that’s not even going to re-sign him. “Personality goes a long way…”
Detroit what are we doing man ??????? I get why they traded him at the deadline but I would love to have him back wearing the old English D . Bring Jack back !!!!!!
I remember in another interview about him saying, I can’t play on the fly, you have to tell me in advance so I can mentally prepared( I understand but if you got that dog in you, you’re always ready.) so don’t send me out in the 5th inning, I do it but won’t be a good idea.
Maybe because his ERA was over 7 during the playoffs with velocity noticely down. Teams might be worried. I think he will bounce back we'll, but arm fatigue hindered his postseason run.
If Jack wants to win another WS with his hometown team, he will offer the Dodgers a "friendly" contract with both sides able to opt out after one year. If he does well next year, many teams will want him for the long term, like what Snell did.
Hey Jack, if you wanna sign, ask for a 4 year 60 million dollar deal from any team that has a pay roll above 100 million. Heck, go join Paul Skenes and the pirates. Take a slight discount go out and put that team on your back.
Bro hes a cali pretty boy. All he cares about is a big contract. And whoever gives it to him is in for it. When he’s good he’s good. But he can also be not so good.
I like Jack but he was bad in the playoffs especially in the WS. I think everybody remembers game 5 where he gave up 5 runs in like 2 innings. Just terrible performance.
The Jays should be on Flaherty - they missed on Roki and Bassit is in his final year -they clearly want a starter to push Yariel to the pen. Although they seem to want another bat - but they still need a quality starter. And they have a reputation for keeping arms healthy - they took Hoffman where two other clubs were concerned about his arm - the Jays were not.
1/2 of baseball thinks they have no shot at a WS(NL Teams) so why spend when they can throw the team out there they have now and get a similar result. AL teams that needed players have almost all taken care of business already. Hope Jack goes somewhere where he is appreciated would've loved him in a Red Sox uni.
i mean maybe 6 man rotation so 1. snell 2.ohtani 3.glassnow 4.yamamoto 5. sasaki and 6. flaherty and when ohtani is injured still it is move all up one and six will be bp game maybe ause our bullpen good
I’ve always been against players getting paid… ruins the game in my opinion but they are some cheap owners out there who do 💩 there are probably like 25 teams who don’t spend but complain about the dodgers….
He had nothing honest to say about his 2023 failures. He had a 1.58 WHIP that year. Just absymal. Thats what teams are scared of. And I hope he is more honest with himself than he is with Foul Territory about what happened in 2023. Just saying "well, you know we changed catchers from Yadi. And I was trying somethings...". Thats pathetic. While I think some team will ultimately give him a shot I don't think the Orioles want to bring this guy into the clubhouse again and I don't blame them...
What I've not seen mentioned is how good Detroit is at developing/maximizing pitchers and how that could have boosted his stats. His numbers dropped off after joining the Dodgers. ERA+ dropped from 138 to 108, FIP climbed from 3.12 to 4.16, WHIP climbed from .95 to 1.28. Not bad numbers, average to above average, but concerning trend especially factoring in the previous year. He's got real strikeout stuff, but I'd be hesitant banking on what he did in Detroit with how excellent their pitching staff is. Especially with the injury history and the bad 2023. Makes sense as a 1-2 year deal.
Teams want to see two consecutive good years in a row. We saw that last year with Snell, Montgomery in Bellinger. If he goes back on the market and does it again next year he’ll get 120-150 million

I gained a lot of respect for Flaherty coming on the show and straight up saying no one is buying.

Loved the toughness Jack showed with the Dodgers. Big part of winning the WS. Good luck to him!
This guy has no filter lol. Hope someone signs him, seems like a good dude
great for the game for real
legendary appearance. These are the convos I always wish we had more of and are finally getting. Real talk from a current free agent
I wish the Dodgers could resign him but I’m surprised the Angels haven’t tried to sign him
