      I love the F-16 more in terms of physical beauty and form than the F-15.. F-15 is a complete package yes. Just like the Rafale, the rafale is the best looking fighter for the non stealth multi role and much better looking than the typhoon and other chinese and russian counterparts.

    As one of the few lucky people to ever crew an Eagle, I can tell you the effort and talent it takes to put those monsters in the air is unmatched. I crewed an alert F-15 during Desert Storm, from our bunks to airborne in 3 minutes (a little slow, I’ll admit.) this is a great video. Thank the maintainers, they’re the life of air travel and defense. Eagle Keeper Forever

      Aircraft Doc Thank you for your service. That is such a wicked looking bird. I love seeing it fly the "mach loop" and the "Jedi Canyon" one! You must have been proud having the opportunity!
      "What is almost the sound that is like something being.operated electrically as they taxi by or after engine starts? What changes the diameter of the nacelles when they dilate or contract while throttle up or down or in AB? Are they operated hydraulically? Thanks!

    • @aircraftdoc9478
      @aircraftdoc9478 6 лет назад +5

      Stephen Bond I’m not sure what “electrical noise” you’re referring too. Occasionally, they’ll taxi on a single engine, and you’ll hear the jet fuel starter (jfs) spool up to to start the other prior to t/o. As far as the augmenter section...the nozzles or “turkey feathers” are driven in/out using “CENC” or convergent exhaust nozzle control. Which, is the noise your hear when they’re mechanically moving. Almost like loud birds chirping, or a screech type sound. It’s been awhile since I’ve worked on one, but hope I answered your questions. Aim High

      Yeah, but after Ramstein in 1988 in fuckin germany everything is banned and now you don't have any air shows. Only at the ILA there is maybe a little boring display. Not comparable with the mid 80's. In the 80s, I had 10 or more fly bys a day in my hometown for some days. In 2018 i haven't seen a single jet, no Eufi, no Tornado, not a single F-16 from Spang. 2019 three single jets on two different days. The golden times in shitty Germany are long time ago. @effinghamhick Seriously, F-14 is nowhere near the flight and dogfight capabilities of the F-15. The Tomcat was mainly designed to shot down from a distance formations of Russian bombers or cruise missiles which fly in a straight line. The Eagle is born to impose air superiority in the skies of the Central Europe against every fighter that the enemy could put in action. Different birds for different purposes.

      Layman's guess, but I think that was deliberate. I think that for the purposes of the exhibition, he was bleeding energy to close the gap between him and the trailing ship. He used AB as a saftey margin being that close to the deck so that once he got the effect he wanted, he still had his energy up for the climb out. He was cleaning up the choreograph. That's my layman's guess. Never touched the controls of an aircraft, but very passionate about them.

    It's impressive to think that these were the tip of the sword when they came out , I mean they still are fantastic jets but right now they have some mad competition and are starting to get retired , without counting every other jet that cam ever out afther these : the Rafale , the Typoon , the Sukoi , and all the stealthy bois like the f-22 that was capable of taking down five of these during a simulated combat , boy is technology advancing quickly lately

      @andreabindolini7452 4 года назад

      F-15C are still the most beautiful, but they must be retired, not for obsolescence, but because the airframes have come to the end of their engineered life. Later versions as the F-15E and the newest air superiority version F-15EX (that will come soon), are still lethal. Though not maneuvrable as the modern EFA, Rafale or Su-35, they mantain the advantage, especially against the Sukhoi, in electronic countermeasuers, radar, and probably even long range armament. In battle I would still prefer to be aboard an F-15 rather than a Su-35!

    Looks like on the second pass at around 2:00 the pilot forgot to retract the speed break while in full burner. Interesting.

    • @GSmith6116

      Yes both flaps and gear are controlled by the pilot and from what I understand this day the air brake simply got stuck and was not intentionally done. These are aging airframes and always have something going on with them
