I love the F-16 more in terms of physical beauty and form than the F-15.. F-15 is a complete package yes. Just like the Rafale, the rafale is the best looking fighter for the non stealth multi role and much better looking than the typhoon and other chinese and russian counterparts.
As one of the few lucky people to ever crew an Eagle, I can tell you the effort and talent it takes to put those monsters in the air is unmatched. I crewed an alert F-15 during Desert Storm, from our bunks to airborne in 3 minutes (a little slow, I’ll admit.) this is a great video. Stephen Bond I’m not sure what “electrical noise” you’re referring too. Occasionally, they’ll taxi on a single engine, and you’ll hear the jet fuel starter (jfs) spool up to to start the other prior to t/o. As far as the augmenter section...the nozzles or “turkey feathers” are driven in/out using “CENC” or convergent exhaust nozzle control. Which, is the noise your hear when they’re mechanically moving. Almost like loud birds chirping, or a screech type sound. It’s been awhile since I’ve worked on one, but hope I answered your questions. Aim High

Love the 104th. I run outside to watch them every day when they fly over my house. Fell in love with the A-10 and then the F-15 because of these incredible pilots. I'm gonna miss the Eagle when they transition to F-35 next year... Feels like a big part of my life is ending.
As someone who grew up around F-4 Phantoms, I gotta say that the F-15, especially after watching this, is the clear successor to the beauty, power, and capability of the old Bug Bashers.
The F-15 is an excellent and proven airframe . Retrofitted and newer F-15s' are even better than the original . Better engines and totally different electronics . Cool video and Thanks .

But now, competing with that is the imminent and very costly imperative of addressing a pandemic - both in the short term as well as long term improvement of healthcare systems. In the 80th i lived near Bitburg AB Germany. Eagles of the 36th TFW gave me nearly every summer day an cool airshow when they practicing dogfights at low level. Love F-15, an icon like P-51 etc. Eagles were the Stars at every airshow as well.
Yeah, but after Ramstein in 1988 in fuckin germany everything is banned and now you don't have any air shows. Only at the ILA there is maybe a little boring display. Not comparable with the mid 80's. In the 80s, I had 10 or more fly bys a day in my hometown for some days. In 2018 i haven't seen a single jet, no Eufi, no Tornado, not a single F-16 from Spang. 2019 three single jets on two different days. The golden times in shitty Germany are long time ago. Sad but true... ☹️

The Tomcat was mainly designed to shot down from a distance formations of Russian bombers or cruise missiles which fly in a straight line. The Eagle is born to impose air superiority in the skies of the Central Europe against every fighter that the enemy could put in action. Different birds for different purposes.

Was stationed at Nellis in the late 80's 474th TFW and then 65th Aggressors F16's. Saw these big beautiful jets do this a thousand times and it never got old.

Jo Mission One of the first things I was taught in the Air Force as part of airmanship was one never uses thrust against speedbrakes in the air and never use thrust against brakes on the ground. That’s why I think he just forgot them.
Layman's guess, but I think that was deliberate. I think that for the purposes of the exhibition, he was bleeding energy to close the gap between him and the trailing ship. He used AB as a saftey margin being that close to the deck so that once he got the effect he wanted, he still had his energy up for the climb out. He was cleaning up the choreograph. That's my layman's guess. Never touched the controls of an aircraft, but very passionate about them.
it's gonna be sad when the 104th gets rid of these for the F-35 but one thing that the F-35 will not do is put a larger smile on my face when it does a afterburner flyby
Some people say the F16 is the sexiest-looking fighter since the P51 or Spitfire. I say the F15 is the MEANEST-looking aircraft since the F4 Phantom, maybe even the Corsair or Tigercat. I miss working at an airport (KPWM) for 2 reasons - deicing, and impromptu air shows like this.
It's impressive to think that these were the tip of the sword when they came out , I mean they still are fantastic jets but right now they have some mad competition and are starting to get retired , without counting every other jet that cam ever out afther these : the Rafale , the Typoon , the Sukoi , and all the stealthy bois like the f-22 that was capable of taking down five of these during a simulated combat , boy is technology advancing quickly lately
F-15C are still the most beautiful, but they must be retired, not for obsolescence, but because the airframes have come to the end of their engineered life. Later versions as the F-15E and the newest air superiority version F-15EX (that will come soon), are still lethal. Though not maneuvrable as the modern EFA, Rafale or Su-35, they mantain the advantage, especially against the Sukhoi, in electronic countermeasuers, radar, and probably even long range armament. In battle I would still prefer to be aboard an F-15 rather than a Su-35!
Simply perspective. NOT HATING IN ANY WAY! I LOVE THIS AMAZING PLANE! Not too long ago, one F-22 took down a team of five F-15's like they were Sopwith Camels. It's worth looking up the story, if you can find it. The videos seem to be disappearing though.

These things I think the airbrakes are just for pilot's sake,you know make him/her feel better. I don't really think a 2.5x6or7 foot piece of aluminum is gonna do much against that kinda power! Ha!!! Always loved the Iggle.

Is it just me ? but I have feeling the avionics (maybe TAS related) always tend to extend the landing gears during those routines - gears that are promptly retracted (I assume by pilot's command)
Yes both flaps and gear are controlled by the pilot and from what I understand this day the air brake simply got stuck and was not intentionally done. These are aging airframes and always have something going on with them
So sad it is a fini flight for the pilots, but on the bright side they must be very happy that they had the larger than life opportunity of fly the incredible beast, the F15!!!
Those F-15 Strike Eagles are fantastic aircraft and so well built until new ones could be rushed off the production lines with the updates made to them.
When McDonnell designed this, they hit a home run. Beauty, performance and lethality. My favorite fighter jet of all.
The "mad major" knew what he was doing when he was designing this beautiful bird.

These things I think the airbrakes are just for pilot's sake,you know make him/her feel better. I don't really think a 2.5x6or7 foot piece of aluminum is gonna do much against that kinda power! Ha!!! Always loved the Iggle.
The speedbrake is to control the ASI. Regardless the aircraft, regardless the configuration.

WOW I talked to these guys at the R.I. airshow a few years back and they told me they are the ones I see fly over us here in CT as they go out over Long Sound to practice. cool very good footage.

Is it just me ? but I have feeling the avionics (maybe TAS related) always tend to extend the landing gears during those routines - gears that are promptly retracted (I assume by pilot's command)
Yes both flaps and gear are controlled by the pilot and from what I understand this day the air brake simply got stuck and was not intentionally done. These are aging airframes and always have something going on with them

Those F-15 Strike Eagles are fantastic aircraft and so well built until new ones could be rushed off the production lines with the updates made to them.
