- In this video Peter McLeod sits down with Pete Buckey to discuss using furled leaders for trout and grayling. Pete Buckey is one of Aardvark McLeod's longstanding guides on the southern chalkstreams with a wealth of time on the water and experience. Pete discovered furled leaders in his career and has since gone on to develop his own methods of standardised manufacture and tailor makes them for sale. They discuss the benefits of using furled leaders on the chalkstreams and put them to the test at Leckford on the River Test in Hampshire.

Always loved Furled leaders. The regular application of mucilin is key otherwise you end up spraying the whole river.

Thanks for the upload 👍🏼 I fish with an 8ft 4W rod so should I go for the 5ft version? I bought one online but it’s 8ft long also when attaching my tippet should I put a perfection loop on my tippet & go loop to loop or should I tie on my tippet using a clinch knot

Good morning! Sorry it has taken a while to respond on this, had to do some digging. Pete is still making furled leaders yes, but he now sells them through Robjents tackle in Stockbridge. If you give them a call they can help. FYI Pete is away for the next week, so try after Easter…
