As stunning a song as I've ever heard. Haunting and beautiful.
Zachary Largey Thank you Zachary! Rialto will be the opening track on my second album, I hope you’ll enjoy the rest of the record just as much when you hear it!
I’ve been watching your channel for a while and really appreciate the wonderful content you provide Michael.
Your passion for what you do, your incredible talent, your ability to articulate your thoughts, and intelligence are a gift to us all!
Also the quality of your video-audio production is simply stellar and a joy to behold (and I always listen with nice sounding headphones).
Thank you!
That means a great deal to me Scott! Thank you for your support!
This is what it sounds when a masterpiece is handed to a blessed Musician.....what a composition.......
Thank you Benny, that's very kind of you
Your piece, as it is, would be great background music for a wordless movie scene of wandering or persistence. It's a classic.
Thank you very much Van!
@@MichaelWatts Perhaps you might try to write pieces for film-making friends. The fact that it's gonna be background music doesn't dilute its value; a fitting piece helps "make" a scene. And writing to a mood is a noble challenge.
Glad to see you back on RUclips Michael! Missing your demos for TNAG. Another great presention.
RADThird1 thank you for watching and for your kind words. Much appreciated
Beautifully expressed, both verbally and musically.
Thank you Ian, good to hear from you!
First, finding your channel has been a real gift of inspiration to me as a musician and
a fingerstyle guitarist.
You play with such emotional depth, which is most important, but you also play with technical brilliance which serves the music completely!
I'm learning so much about guitars as well!
This model is beyond incredible, I would not have considered that combination and it's given me much food for thought when I purchase my next guitar!!
Thank you for such incredible content!!
Thank you so much for watching Scott, I’m very glad you found my channel and I hope you’ll stay!
How deep is the ocean,
how high is the sky...
The "depth of expression" Michael and this Kostal guitar create is profound.
Paul Boden thank you Paul, your support means a great deal to me. It’s fair to say that Jason’s work has informed my own for years now.
Beautiful composition and great review on the genesis of this piece of art, Michael.
Thank you George! I'm glad you enjoyed it
You are definitely an inspiration. I'm building my guitar based on what I'm learning from your videos.
Thank you very much Michael!
magnificent instrument
This is rad. Please do so many more of these!
Thanks mate! Don't worry, I will!
Awesome. Can't wait!
He talks so politely.
In this modern world, the hallmarks of a Gentleman shine like diamonds. To be coveted and aspired to. Bravo, Zeerak.
A great sounding guitar and a great player.
Thank you!
I think its the best looking acoustic I’ve ever seen. Looks great here but In the flesh it’s incredible
Thanks Dom, it's really matured since you last saw it too!
I have been going through your series here Michael. Thanks so much for the wonderful guitars, and lovely music. I just picked up Vetiver, and am excited for a listen. Can you offer any insight into the saddle design Jason used on the MDW?
Hi there! Thank you for your support, I hope you enjoy the ,music for years to come! Jason uses a wide saddle for better intonation and energy transfer into the top. it's something Ervin Somogyi has recommended for decades now and it really makes sense.
That’s wonderful and it has helped cement some ideas I had for a guitar to be built for me! I’m not sure you said what the top is?
Thanks for watching, the soundboard is German Spruce. Jason Kostal makes 90% of his guitars from German and I love it too.
Aha - the one I'm commissioning will have European/Alpine spruce but other than that the woods are all English yet quite similar to yours - at least the body is. We were looking at making it 12 fret and your video has helped reassure me that we're barking up the right tree! Thanks for replying so quickly.
Thank you for getting in touch! There are lots of good reasons to have a 12-fret guitar and made only one good one not too... Congratulations on your new build, who's the luthier you've chosen?
Turnstone Guitar Company - just a few minutes from where I live and they are gorgeous to see, hold and play.
Rosie? That's great news, you're in good hands!
perfect choice maple back & side ...
I like it...
I think RUclips should have a filter of some sort e.g. Are You Drunk? Do you think Trump is making America great? / Oasis were the best band in the world? before letting anyone put a thumbs-down to something as tasteful as this.
Ray Stroud ha ha ha! Well, if we all liked the same thing then I guess the world would be a lot less interesting... I see it as a good sign that I’m not just reaching people who love what I fo
Hi Michael,
how are the Neck Dimensions?
Which Tuning you're playing?
It's very beautiful.
Thank you very much! I'm in DADGAD and the neck on the MDW is Jason's own carve for me but it's a lot less deep that on my Mod D. The nut is a standard 1.75"
@@MichaelWatts Thank you for the Information. When is the new cd finished. Can i still buy the first on physically?
sockenfrank you’re very welcome! Vetiver was never available as a physical release but you can buy a high quality download over my website as well as the tablature. I’m finally getting back into the studio later this month!
@@MichaelWatts OK, so i couldn't find anything. To bad i'm old-fashioned.
@@sockenfrank Well so am I in a way, I am looking into a vinyl release! But not CD
Was in queue for an OM in the next year, this just might push me towards an OM. Decisions decisions
azsundvl04 I’m happy to help if you need further advice
Michael Watts Much appreciated. Your videos have been very helpful. I have watched and rewatched trying to discern and it is tough! I like the idea of a smaller bodied guitar but not sure I want to give up the fret space. I have yet to play a Kostal but did get to tour his shop and pick out he wood (my sister lives right by him). Hard decide without getting my hands on it. I’d welcome any other thoughts that you have.
Why don't you send me an email through my website with a bit more info about you as a player and I'll be in a better position to advise.
nylon strings? beautiful tone.
Thank you! No, steel strings
What's the piece you play ?
That is a new piece called RIALTO
It's an awesome one. I'm going to have to learn it now. When are you releasing a new album ?
Jason_Music I’m still writing it, my debut album VETIVER is available now on my website and there are some TABS there too if you fancy giving the pieces a try. If you video the results I’ll feature it on my site too!
I've got covered two pieces of yours already (by ears because the tab were not yet available) and you already have commented on them : The unfair funfair, and Celandine. I'd be glad and proud to have them on your site, if you deem them good enough :)
Keep me posted
From the first note you played I wad captured! You played beautifully. The guitar.... I've never heard anything like it!
Incredible!!!
Thank you!
