I,ve done lots of this with an old Leyland 272 & Browns moleplough , try water - ballasting both back tyres , on the axle , don,t remove them , they will hold about 1/3 to 1/2 a ton of water EACH, mix in a bag of calcium chloride prills SLOWLY into a big barrel of water , stirring continuously , this is to stop the ballast water freezing in bad weather , NEVER pour water into a barrel of calcium prills , it will explode in your face ! Then pump the mix via a schrader valve into the deflated tubes , only go to the top of the wheelrim MAXIMUM , WITH EXCELLENT QUALITY WHEELS , remove schrader valve , fit tube valve outer body & inflate to 12 to 14 p.s.i. from a distance with full safety gear , no harder . If these explode they go off like a bomb , so ensure both tyre case & wheelrim quality are excellent first . Always respect tyres , they only kill you once ! This should provide enough weight on the back axle to keep the tractor gripping , in a lower gear , & not smear the subsoil by skidding .
