Dennis Farina played Midnight Run's Jimmy Serrano beautifully. Although his scenes were often hilarious, even when he talked of committing violent acts, Dennis also conveyed the sinister and evil aspects of the character. The scene that best illustrates this is when Dennis finally has Charles Groden's character in the car. Both Dennis and Charles play this scene with deadly seriousness and Dennis left little doubt that when he had the opportunity, he would torture and finally murder Charles' character. This is the picture's "low point," a term I used to describe when things look the bleakest for the character (or characters) we most care about before the story is resolved.

Dennis was also great in Manhunter. Michael Mann was the reason he was able to give us such great performances.
