@@Ltldogg69 Yeah that two player shelf is probably the hardest one to get serenaded into. Especially since I like Destiny Better. But I think many will love this one.
Thanks for the context of your dislike of deck builders. You liked it in spite of the fact that it is a deck builder. I love deck builders so looking through my lens, it seems to be an instabuy.
Taking out enemy cards is a great twist to the game! I agree that sometimes it would be nice if deckbuilders had a quicker start. I’ve been tempted sometimes to randomly give players a few other cards to start. How is the card quality? Will it hold up to a ton of shuffling or will it need to be sleeved to last?
Yeah that’s one thing I love about Baseball Highlights 2045, is you do 3 buy rounds before your first real turn. The card quality is good, but if you’re going to play it a lot they have custom sleeves for the game. They came as a store promo for buying it at my flgs. Maybe they’re all doing it.
@@zachcarmichael699 I think sleeves are only a promo if you buy it at an FLGS. Not sure if that’s just a U.S. thing though. I’m in Canada and sometimes those specials don’t apply.
Dan, I didn't realize you liked Star Wars Destiny that much. I use to play in weekly events at my local game store. That game was a lot of fun. I'm curious, what did you think of the discarding mechanic that the rebels have? I've read where some people feel it keeps the empire from playing the game.
It didn't seem to come up often enough in our games to cause a problem. If you don't want them to get that card, attack it in the Galaxy Row before they can get it.
Rebel side have almost 30% of their cards with ability that makes Empire discard their cards. Did you find this to be a problem, that the Empire player had less of fub game due to often just have 3-4 cards in hand when it comes around to their turn?

@TheGameBoyGeek - Hi Quality Hi Energy Board Game Reviews I looked up other info and reviews. Your review and excess caffeine consumption tipped me to getting it. I was concerned it might just be Star Realns again, but it isn't.
My FLGS had free promo art sleeves that came with the purchase of the game. Awesome value! I'm not sure all FLGSs will have that, they probably had to buy a certain quantity to qualify.
I am mixed when it comes to deck builders. This one works for me. I liked Star Wars Destiny, but what killed it for me was that it was a CCG. I had wished FFG had made the game a LCG. But I did love how Destiny played. This deck builder looks like I will have alot of fun with it.
You and I seem to have similar tastes! I bet you’ll like this. I felt like once you had a hand full of boosters you could just draft the Destiny hands each Game or just play with a starter deck and you could ignore chasing cards. But I’m guessing too many others did that same thing leaving the game unsupported
@@TheGameBoyGeeks the reason I wanted Destiny to be a LCG, is that instead of random packs, you knew what you where getting. In fact, I would have loved FFG to do what they are doing with Marvel Champions. You could have had Hero, and Villain packs, centered on one character. The pack would have had cards that only that character would have, weapons, armor, what have you. The rest would be a random set of common, uncommon, and rear cards. So a 50 card pack. You could upgrade characters, like have 3 different Han Solo packs, one from Solo. Another from New Hope. That type of thing. And the dice would still be part of the game.
Yep, there's simply no way on earth I would ever touch a CCG. It just seems setup to sucker you out of money. It's a deeply parasitic way of selling a game.
the similarities to power rangers is really cool. fighting cards in the market row that are your opponents cards. (having them attack you at the end of the turn somehow would make it even more interesting, like the mentioned game.) the bases remind me of the objectives in the LCG, which I really like. along with their individual powers. I'm super anxious for FFG to post the 2v2 rules (supposedly coming soon, and will require two core sets) very hopeful that they support this and add expansions. I know a few characters are missing from the box, like R2 and 3PO (I'd think they'd be important for a supporting role) also I've heard Yoda isn't in the game, which makes sense, since he was exiled on Dagobah. all in all the game looks great, ART included! sure it's rehashed from their other star wars games, but it works!!! thanks for the review. currently have 2 copies on route and looking forward to teaching it at my local con next week.
the game sounds fun, it sounds like a combination of radlands and power rangers deck builder. I may give it a try for a 2 player game when my groups fizzled out to me and one person for the week
It is in the US, just sold out haha. My local game store had a prerelease event and that's how I got mine...was about $40 USD after tax and included sleeves.
...and I really hope that sometime soon FFG tries a Star Wars co-op LCG like they originally tried to do before they went back to the drawing board with the Star Wars LCG. I'd really like to see what they're able to come up with if they were to try again.
Same. I own every bit of that game, and I loved it. I know some people hated the POD building aspect, but I enjoyed it very much. Also that game covered a lot of EU material that will likely never be seen again in Star Wars games.
Star Realms has had a few more years to mature and evolve. However, if you were to compare the base 2 player deck box of Star Realms with Star Wars DBG, I would say Star Wars edges out Star Realms in every way except for one and that is that Star Realms is more compact than Star Wars DBG.
I hope you enjoy the review!

I see a context of telling a story as a way to jumpstart a deckbuilder. I can see this game lending to deck stacking as a way to tell a story.
