That was cool! Thanks, Matt. We got several bonus tips beyond the batch tip, like how you work with stacks and how you sort/remove via metadata filters. Good stuff. Like you, I wouldn't delete the original Raw file. When there's a significant tech upgrade like Generative Fill, Lightroom DeNoise, or DxO PureRaw 3, I like to go back to previously unusable photos and see if there's any hidden gold there. I'm finding all kinds of stuff. I'm glad I didn't delete those originals!
Adobe Noise Reduction is undeniably impressive, but its effectiveness is unfortunately limited by file types. While I shoot in raw format using a Sony A1 camera, I also capture raw images with my iPhone, DJI Mavic 3, DJI Action 3, and Insta 360, all of which save files in the .dng format as their native raw file. Regrettably, Adobe Lightroom's noise reduction feature doesn't support most of my raw photos due to this file type discrepancy. It's intriguing considering .dng is Adobe's own creation. To maintain consistency, I have converted all my raw photos from the past decade into Adobe DNG upon importing, which means even my Sony and Canon files are not compatible with the noise reduction function. Fortunately, I have Topaz Photo AI which works with all raw formats.
Depending upon the photo, it may also be practical to take the resulting DNG and then convert it to a lossy DNG, which will reduce the disk space usage by 90%. You may give up some dynamic range as the algorithm converts the image to 8 bits and uses a compression algorithm similar to jpeg for processing.
im trying to do this in lightroom and its not working it will only let me enhance one photo and i don't see the same screen as you either. Is this an extension?
Thanks a lot sir! seeing the firt video of you, but helped me a lot! My denoice proces have taken me 30 hours..... I know, I have a patato laptop but boy what are the results great! I'm devenetly going to save this video beauce it help me a lot in the future, but first playing the wainting game xD. Cheers Mate!
The DNG files are so much bigger than the RAW files! I usually open RAW files as Smart Objects, but not for these huge de-noised images. Can't re-de-noise 🙂 anyway!
Thanks Matt When you take your images into Lightroom's Enhance to denoise do you alter the pre-sharpener of +40 that Lightroom applied on import? i.e. is it best to start on zero?
I like your tip on using the 5-star rating for picked AND EDITED photos. I'm always needing to go into Develop mode to see if I have fully edited my photo. Great idea! Thank you.
Thanks, Matt when I do a batch denoise I usually run it in the very beginning so I then want to delete the original. I had no idea that you could change to a file type. Thanks again.
Great idea and tip. 👏 You first make adjustments in Lightroom and then go through the DeNoise procedure. Does it make any difference when I first initiate DeNoise and make the basic adjustments in the dng-file?
I have the habit of converting my raw files to dng at import (I know, there are pro's but also cons, for me the pro's just outweigh the cons). Is there a metadata item that I can use to select the original files from the ones that got the denoise treatment that anyone can think of?

Another thing Matt, a 40 MB RAW file ends up being a 100MB DNG. Not just the time it takes, the amount of space this gobbles up is a problem too.

@@JohnSlankashow can I convert the dngs to lossy? as a batch over a complete folder? and Lightroom can handle them?
I own RTX 4090, AI denoise literally takes a few seconds per 6k picture
im trying to do this in lightroom and its not working

you have to do it from square grid view
Thanks a lot sir! seeing the firt video of you, but helped me a lot!

Whoa, mine is 4 seconds.
Thanks again Matt. The tip to remove the pre DeNoise images from the collection is obvious, but not to this old codger! Definitely worth following.

My Lightroom didn’t have the file type in the library filter
My PC take 6 second for each photo to apply denoise AI
Totally diggin’ the vids, fam. You’re a funny man, “Word from our sponsor”….
Thanx, Matt.
whats your manual setting for the denoise sir?
Just tried to batch 78 raw images but Topaz Denoise Ai says only 26 are being processed? Any ideas?
Hi… I don’t. Topaz support would be better for troubleshooting. Thx.
Thanks Matt

Hi. No rule to it. If I think the photo needs it I will. With a lot of these bear photos I added more sharpening because it looked good.
thank you a lot!
Thank you, exactly what I was looking for! Great Bear pics too!
Glad I could help!
TNX!!!!!!!

Good....Thanks.
Oh, for heaven's sake, that is so simple and typically Adobe obscure.
Another good one, Matt! You really planned your trip perfectly! 7.2 earthquake with epicenter on the Kodiak Island! 😅

Thank you so much for making this video!
THANK YOU SO MUCH YOU HAVE NO IDEA THIS HELPED ME SAFE TIME FOR A WEDDING RECEPTION
!
Its very useful, thank you for the great tips!
Thank you, this just saved me a ton of time, and money.
how about batching in bridge?
Great idea and tip. 👏

Hi. To me it doesn’t but always best to test both ways yourself and see what you prefer. Thx!

you can chose to have key words added automatically in Preferences
Go to Edit > Preferences, select the File Handling tab and check the Automatically add keywords to Enhanced images box. Select OK to make the changes.
Hi Matt, in regard to photo #5, what is your opinion on the removal of the flies? Do it or don't?
I would.
@@MattKloskowskiI loves me some bugs in the shot. I want my audience to know how I suffered!
great tips ... as usual!
Great tips Matt, definitely a few nuggets in there .
