    My No.1 favorite aircraft would have to go to this Su-47 Berkut.
    The F-4E & F-14 variants may have been endearing, the F-22A may be a pilot's dream come true... but for me, this is way more dramatic in every way.
    Yeah, yeah, X-29 & Tsybin LL-3 and all. This is the fighter that perfected the forward-sweep wings.

    The advantage of the inverted arow wing is that the plane can perform better acrobatics at high angle of attacks with little loss of portance. Also, on a normal wing, the airflow tends to separate (detach) at the tip of the wing, wich makes turbulences around the entire wing; but on an inverted arrow wing, the airflow tends to separate and go on the jonction of the wing with the fuselage, and this gives the plane a better aerodinamic and less turbulences arround the wings.

    • @crossmeister
      @crossmeister Год назад

      De langue maternelle Française? “portance” is lift, “jonction” is junction. Bonne description du détachement de la couche liminaire.

      @@jollyroger8671 Because Yelzin negotiated with them rather well.
      So Ukraine and Kazahkstan both freely gave up their sizable nuclear arsenals, in return for economic help and security guarantees by the US and Russia. Russia guaranteed both of them territorial integrity and coming to their aid, should that integrity be threatened.
      Furthermore Ukraine and Georgia actually were blocked from NATO accession once before by Germany and France in 2008, to show good faith to Russia.
      And what did Putin do after that? He invaded both Georgia and Ukraine in short succession, proving that "good faith" to Russia is never honoured.
      Which in turn means Ukraine will soo be in NATO. And Kazahkstan is in the process of switching alliances from Russia to China.

    I just love this airframe. One thing you can say: The Russians [even though it was more or less inspired by the X-29] pulled off, to make a much more impressive prototype.
    But yeah - only a couple of planes were built and just as technology demonstrator. Nothing more.
    I also don't really understand the hate here!
    Russian planes are rugged, good performing, they have their strengths as they have their weaknesses. American planes [and the few European airframes] are more delicate, more technological advanced.
    The raw power of Sukhois are definitely remarkable.
    On the other hand, it very much seems, that except of the performance peaks, American aircrafts are much more consistent - better overall performance below the peaks.
    And then it comes to the differences of believes and military doctrine: The American doctrine is focussed on the beyond the view tactics - with the dogfight as last resort. But if a dogfight occurs, the technology is assisting the pilot in any way, to let him focus on the action.
    The Russian doctrine is still more focussed on close combat [dogfights] - the planes are very good in the hands of a truly excellent pilot in a good condition - but a fight is not as easy to win, if the pilot is average and has to get his way through the overall flight functions.
    And then is the last point: both sides [Russia and the US] considered the wing forward sweep as too troublesome, to use it in real warfighters. The End!

    • @Dominikmj
      @Dominikmj 10 лет назад

      ***** Sounds again like propaganda! and myths! Well- not completely, as jamming is a common strategy, especially when the muster has to compete against e.g. a 5th gen fighter, which they might not "see".
      Jamming is actually a good strategy to increase the survivability - but you also derange yourself and your "comrades". Against an air superiority like the NATO [not only due to advanced combat planes but also due to AWACS, satellite link, etc] this might be their only possibility just to stand a chance...

    • @Dominikmj
      @Dominikmj 10 лет назад +2

      ***** Sorry, you seem like a nice guy, but I don't consider your reply as anything but wish thinking. No fighter is "un-jam'able" - and you need much more as the usual ECM jammer in a "normal" fighter jet, have a reasonable advantage [except of the fact, that the opponent combatant, can't lock on you]!
      These are usually the "electronic warfare airframes".
      I am not really sure, but I guess, this strategy might be also very vulnerable - as I guess an ARM missile, targeting the electronic emissions can make a very short [and catastrophic] end out of the situation!
      And Russia is pushing the development of the Sukhoi T-50 [system designation Pak-Fa] - very well - it is the first completely new developed fighter plane since decades and it is very much quite sophisticated [for Russian proportions]!

    • @Dominikmj
      @Dominikmj 10 лет назад +1

      ***** I think your idea about jamming is somewhat wrong! And every modern jet - if Russian, Chinese, European or American rely heavily on electronics and computers - and especially on high tech sensors, which are based on electro-magnetics and other highly "jammable" technologies!
      And - you shouldn't guess. The Russians are planning to deploy 60 T-50's and are on the route to develop an export version as well with the Indians. The Indians are anyway very helpful in fundiing latest military tech, to get their hands on it, for a much lower price than in the West [and they would not get the latest tech, as their security situation - e.g. when India looked for a new generation jet fighter [in the size of a F-35] the US didn't offered the Lightning II, but the latest versions of the Super Hornet and F-16 [Block 50].
      The risk of unwanted technology transfer [to Russia] is just far too high in India.

    • @ASHISHKNAINAN27
      @ASHISHKNAINAN27 10 лет назад +5

      ***** agree with you on this, Russians are way less offensive. Lesser aircraft carriers and aircrafts but they can beat the shit out of any any country if they think of attacking Russia. Love their aircrafts though. Especially this one,Pak FA and Su 34.

    • @Dominikmj
      @Dominikmj 10 лет назад +2

      Ognjen Davidovic I think, your comment shows, that you are delusional!
      Russian jets looked always better on the paper, as they really were. Theoretic performance was wow, while the real performance is meh. Just look at the documents, what you can find about the F-16 compared to the Mig-29. Real tests! In an air confrontation, the Mig-29 likely fall out of the sky, because "its superb engines" are so wasteful, that it runs out of kerosene before the enemy fighter can shoot it down, lol.
      But you have to take Russian airplanes, for what they are: robust, rather simple and cheap [compared to Western musters].

    This plane uses (very) similar design principles to those of the Grumman X 29 research plane. To have predictable flight characteristics it must have computer sensing and control adjustments and the wings must be at once lightweight and rigid enough to resist tip flexing that would otherwise increase to the point of wing failure and/or uncontrolled pitch-up movements.

    Современный воздушный бой происходит на расстоянии десятков километров друг от друга это борьба компьютеров и средств обнаружения . Пилотаж это только показ уха для ОРТ эпоха пилотажа подошла к концу. Будущее за боевыми дронами а все эти сушки для них лишь цели.

    • @шеф-ю1ф
      @шеф-ю1ф 11 лет назад +23

      Ну это ты зря. Десятки километров для истребителя это ничто. Мы не знаем, как может проходить реальный современный воздушный бой на новых истребителях, так, как никто такого боя ещё не видел. И даже если допустить, что маневренность не столь важна в бою, хотя она является важнейшим критерием при оценке летных качеств самолёта, то она точно необходима при боевых взлётах и посадках, а так же при полётах на малых высотах, при работе по наземным и надводным целям. Да и показуха важна, так, как только наши конструкторы научили летать технику так, как им хочется, а всем остальным остаётся только смотреть и завидовать.
      А война дронов пока фантастика. Дорого и не надёжно, Ближайшее будущее за сверхманевренными истребителями.

      шеф Давайте взглянем правде в глаза страна которая не может собрать надежный автомобиль, холодильник, телевизор, и прочее. Может ли такая страна создать современный военный самолет? Боевая машина это апофеоз сложнейших технологий электроника, компьютерные технологии. Наиболее обьективно оценено состояние российской авиации здесь ari.ru/news/82d7ff112 и здесь продолжение ari.ru/news/0bcb2121f так что уважаемый шеф не согласен я с тобой.

      Валерий Золотухин Не совсем понятно, причём тут автомобили, это совсем другая отрасль промышленности, никакого отношения не имеющая к оборонке и к авиастроению. Так уж вышло, что оборонная промышленность у нас всегда финансировалась в первую очередь, и это оправдано. Кстати Камаз каждый год подтверждает, что является самым надёжным грузовиком в мире. Я конечно понимаю, что молодёжи трудно поверить сейчас в Россию, поэтому спорить не буду. Достаточно вспомнить, как в мире создавалось 4 поколение истребителей и насколько удачными получились МиГ-29 и СУ-27.
      По твоей ссылке ничего объективного нет, обычная пропаганда, расчитаная на тех, кто не интересуется авиацией.

      Любой дальнобойщик плюнет вам в лицо по поводу качества камазов так что не надо откровенно врать. А автомобили и прочее тут притом что есть такое понятие как культура производства которая к сожалению полностью утрачена в современной России. По поводу оборонки тоже самое нет тех людей которые создавали действительно хорошее оружие и вы правильно понимаете совковая прапаганда совсем не действует на молодежь люди ездят за границу видят что там и что здесь.

      SU-47 is a Soviet designed aircraft they only made one and it was discontinued because of the USSR’s collapse, it is an amazing feat of engineering but it most likely will never be produced again.

    Yes, it does. fairly limited though. The internal weapons bay helps a lot, and it also has a form of radar absorbent material coating the outer skin. Although it isn't as effective as the F-117 or the F-22 raptor..

    @AiIRFiGhTER: the forward facing wing on the SU-47 Berkut allows for faster flying than a backing facing wing. I don't know why but it makes the plane faster.

    The American's made the first High Performance Stealth Fighter, the Russians made the first Reversed swept wing fighter. If we worked together that combination would be absolutely deadly. Amen to the creators of these two planes. Just goes to show what happens when you put your mind at it.

    Now that I'm done ranting, the Su-47 is a beautiful aircraft, way ahead of its time and was closer to being a production fighter than the X-29 and also a really fun plane to fly in simulators and video games.
