    I bought a Serus T and then a Serus J. I ended up selling the T to get a TC, and I've had both of them for a while. My only gripe with the TC is that I am not a big fan of the Fralin Modern PAFs. No fault of the guitar...just not my favorite pickups. The Serus J, however, is absolutely perfect. Gonna be a lifer.

    I have a question about the irritation that affected your arm. I ordered a Miris J Custom order guitar with binding on the front end back. It is not checkerboard but the standard white binding. Which edge is it that rubs into your arm, the top or the back? And if this is the same size body as the Serus J I don't think it'll make any difference for me because it fits me perfectly. Any advice?

    • @Gaslight.Guitar

    I had a Serus T and a Serus J andI sold them both. I am still looking for the perfect one. It wasn't about comfort, it was about not getting the neck size on one and not thrilled with the pick-ups in the other. The Serus J was super comfortable. But the pick-ups were so hot and with a guitar at this price point, I was not comfortable changing out pickups until I found what I was looking for. This is the big problem for me with Novo...there is zero chance to play several options before dropping $3-$5K on one. Unlike any of a dozen other guitar companies where you can play a bunch until you find the one. This is the chance we take with boutique I guess. One day I do hope to land the perfect Novo for me as the ones I had were amazing quality.
    Sorry yours physically hurt you! The Serus J with no binding is super comfy.

      I would really like to buy one, too. However, I’ve never seen one in person much less played one. What really upsets me the most it that I live about an hour from Nashville and go frequently. Before the pandemic the Novo facility was open to the public, but it hasn’t been since. So how do I even get to play one without buying one?

    Hallo! Mich erinnern die Klampfen an alte 60ger Jahre Teile , mir gefällt das Design überhaupt nicht. Ich find die Dinger einfach nur häßlich, aber das ist halt Geschmacksache. Ich hab mir mal eine Factorytour angesehen und war erstaunt wie viel da mit CNC gemacht wird. Also für den Preis erwarte ich wesentlich mehr Handarbeit. Bei jedem guten Gitarrenbauer bekomme ich da mehr für weniger Geld. Allerdings hab ich mir das Geld gespart und investiere in Know how. Ich baue meine Gitarren seit 2 Jahren jetzt selber. Ich habe mit Gitarren Kits angefangen und jetzt bin ich schon soweit mit Holz aus dem Wald, welches ich mir aufbereite. Das Werkzeug und die Fachlektüre haben zwar auch ordenlich gekostet, aber dafür baue ich mir meine Gitarren jetzt auf den Leib. So wie ich sie nirgends bekomme. Die Gitarristen- Kollegen sind von meinen Kreationen so begeistert , das ich jetzt schon einige Modelle für Sie gebaut habe. Hat sich also gelohnt für mich. Mir macht das mehr Spaß als mit einer Custom Order unglücklich zu sein, weil es dann doch nicht passt.

    • @Gaslight.Guitar
      @Gaslight.Guitar  2 года назад +1

      Hi, ja, da ist was dran. Mich stört der CNC Teil nicht unbedingt, aber eine komplett handgemachte Gitarre ist sicher geil. Vor allem, wenn man sie selbst gebaut hat. Sauber! Mir fehlt der nötige Skill dazu, leider. Haha. Ist doch klasse, dass du dir selbst alles Maßschneidern kannst! VG

    Probiere doch mal die Sonora von Limitless Custom Guitars aus. Ganz klar Novo inspiriert aber lange nicht so sperrig wie eine Serus TC. Man darf auch nicht ganz vergessen dass die Serus TC ja kein "Contoured body" hat. Vorteil bei der Sonora ist ganz klar, sie sehr gemütlich. Fühlt sich irgendwo zwischen Strat und Offset Jazzmaster an, aber vieeeeel gemütlicher. Und du hast absolute Custom Möglichkeiten. Gibt nichts was nicht möglich ist.

    I've owned two - a Serus T and a Serus S. I sold both. For me they simply aren't worth the ridiculous prices people ask for them - they're a solid body bolt on guitar, people are out of their minds asking six, seven thousand dollars for these. They're absolutely well made with quality materials, but they are very quirky visually, and don't think they necessarily sound or play better than other high end boutique guitars. And the bodies are waaaay to big - I agree they were simply uncomfortable to play. I know own a Suhr and a Schecter US custom shop and am much happier. Novos are cool if you dig the visual aesthetic I suppose, but not at the price point all these guitar lawyers are selling them for.

      Novo and a Benson Amp are this Generation’s Custom 24 and a Mesa boogie. Overly Hyped, well marketed, prestige musical instruments that are wholly impractical for the average musician each for very specific reasons. We don’t need more $5,000+ guitars.

To be fair I think Novo's own pricing at new is slightly elevated but fair... it's the used market and the people that think there's some weird special Novo sauce. Like I said I've owned two, I sold them both. Somedays I regret it a little. They do have their own "thing" but it come at the expense of other things - like a weird body shape/size that's just going to be awkward for most. And an overall tone that's rich but not very distinctive - so they're like the Yamaha of boutique guitars.
