When Dimebag died, he was first to be shot. After that, a security guard was killed trying to tackle the gunman. A venue employee also tried tackling the gunman not long after, but to no prevail. He was shot dead too. The last man to be killed was a fan, as he tried to perform CPR on the employee and security guard. Dimebag died a great musician, and it's a tragedy. But let's not forget about the other 3 who died heroes.
There's so much angry in Rob's voice here which makes this so much more effective and a down right amazing performance. R.I.P Dimebag, You are greatly missed by many!
i love this song so much. Its my all time favorite song out of any band that i listen to. Not only is the song awesome but the meaning of it is so great. And i love how they break out a total pantera riff at 4:01 you can totaly hear the influence.
I love these guys. Awesome, legitimately good metal with brains and a whole lot of heart. Machine head makes me proud to be a metal fan and a guitar player... Throw up your damned horns!
Sometimes, Pop rappers get on my nerves they feel being gangster is cool fuck you to all the hip hop going on around love machine head! LONG LIVE HEAVY METAL Dimebag! :D
Great! They're better than ever! Last time I saw them live was in 1997 and I think I'll check them again if I can. Their last album is awesome. R.I.P. Dimebag
I never knew until now the meaning behind this song, and its pretty fucking awesome. I have liked this song and band for many years, and am also a fan of Pantera, so its so cool that Machine Head wrote this for Dimebag. As soon as I read what it was about, the whole lyrics of this song made perfect sense, long live Machine Head, the new album Unto The Locust is fucking awesome!
it's an honor hear your music, it's an honor call you a friend even if i didn´t knew u and it's an honor call you my fucking hero. long live to dimebag darrell and thanks to Machine Head for did this fucking amazing groove metal song in his name.
On that sad day from Rob`s story MH played in Serbia. It was a horror night both for band and fans. But, as always, they performed great. Gig was dedicated to Dimmebag. It looks like every gig from that day on is dedicated to legend. Fantastic song and performance on RAR.
I have seen many bands live. These guys were my first concert and woah, it’s still the greatest gig i have ever been too. They were supporting Slipknot and I didn’t even like MH at the time. But my gosh, they rocked me to the bone 🤘
Machine Head rulz and Dimebag rulz...I respect Rob for this song and standing up for a friend...Dime was the greatest and most lovable rocker ever..He wouldnt hurt anyone..
A few tears roll down my face hearing Robb's speech. We miss and love you every motherfucking day Dime, the horns are up HIGH in your honor every fucking day brother. Getcha pull and can't wait to see you on the other side \m/
I like this song. Also well performed live and those lyrics...can't find words how good it is just quotes: "You tried to spit in the eye of the dead man's face." "Maye the hand of God strike them down"
this is the best comment ive seen in a long time. nice to see some people are still levelheaded on here. and that someone else can believe in god and still like good music ;)
it's called Alternastage - basically as big as the main stage - the whole gig was streamed online (so is the one from download @ donnigton this weekend)
After years i realise that i am in this fucking video. The speech was indeed touching. Its not what you expect on a metal concert and that made it special.
Cried that day!!!! Shit, call my crying session a week if it wasn't a month. I had the pleasure of partying with him dozens of times, as I am from Arlington. That day, well, that week.....words can't describe. Even to this day for me, it seems unreal. Just thinking about him now is bringing tears to my eyes. That man was the coolest fucker I've ever met.....period.
OMG that was F'n amazing! I can't wait to see Machine Fuckin Head back in Canada again. The Blackening is the best metal album to come out in years. R.I.P. Dimbag ...you are missed...
Dimebag Darrel was one of the best guitarists ever alive, his death will always be mourned. I know he's shredding up in heaven :) Machine Head is a awesome Metal band and they are soooo good live. I'm hoping that they will play second round for Metallica aswell so i can see em live ;]
i saw them May 25 at cobo. Rob came out of a side entrance and i ran up to him to get an autograph,so he brought my uncle and I backstage and I ended up with all of Machine Head, Megadeth, and Sabbaths autographs.
On December 8, 2004, Abbott was shot dead onstage while performing with Damageplan at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio. The gunman, Nathan Gale,[11][12] shot Abbott three times in the head using a 9mm Beretta handgun;[13] the third shot killed him instantly. Gale continued shooting, killing three others and wounding a further seven. Gale fired a total of fifteen shots, stopping to reload once and remaining silent throughout the shooting............ r.i.p Dimebag
i respect rob for his efforts in what he is trying to portray. machine head are incredible & i love there music. they are very honest in what they do. and for the record. Pantera is my favourite band. & im obsessed with Phil and dime. but love vinnie and rex also. Ive been listening to pantera since i was 6 and im 18 now so i missed out on the start but i cant help when i was born but loved them since a young age. been listening to down since day 1 also just after i discovered pantera. xo cunts.
They didn't rebirth metal, the scene was doing rather well at the time "Vulgar" came out. Speaking of Vulgar Display of Power, that is what I was talking about with "before they made a name for themselves." They were known in the metal circles, but that album made them almost a household name. I remember when they were still playing glam (and yes, I liked that style as well). I am still waiting on this 99% list that you spewed.
I will admit that is the first I heard of that article. I love to read up on artists and their bands. I don't really follow their TV drama, but just to get a background of how they started etc. But that article sounds very ignorant. RIP Dime RIP \m/
"Let us see which lasts longer throughout history--William's fake nobility or Dimebag Darrell's musical legacy. I'm sure the former will be blown away like dust on a marble floor where Darrell will be held in high esteem for decades. Sleep well, Mr. Grim, and consider what real beauty is and to my metal brothers out there, never be afraid to raise your fist and yell" For me, this is my first time hearing of Mr. Grim. I am not the biggest of metal fans, but I have heard of Dimebag several times.
When Dimebag died, he was first to be shot. After that, a security guard was killed trying to tackle the gunman. A venue employee also tried tackling the gunman not long after, but to no prevail. I hope that piece of shit gun man is being eternally raped in the flames of hell!!
Totally agreed!

Awesome line! Great song.
6:31, love this slow mean stuff.

@nirvana9983 you do know that the solo on "Side Of A Bullet" is Dimebag right? He was collaborating with Nickleback when he was shot.
This song is unbelievably amazing. Dimebag would have been proud.
"Let us see which lasts longer throughout history--William's fake nobility or Dimebag Darrell's musical legacy. I'm sure the former will be blown away like dust on a marble floor where Darrell will be held in high esteem for decades.
