It’s déjà vu for David Betras, the former chair of the Mahoning County Democratic Party. He warned Hillary Clinton’s campaign in May 2016 that she would lose the Mahoning Valley as well as Michigan and Pennsylvania because it was no longer speaking to the concerns of the working class. He says that’s still the case, and that the party can’t continue to insult or talk down to people with words like “fascist” and “racist” and expect to get votes from them.
