another version of these troughs I have seen, they are not flat, but slop with the drain at the lowest end, and instead of a filter pipe on the drain whole, they had a drain that extended across the trough that could be pulled up and out for cleaning.
Would it not make more sense to have a submersible filter that goes below the water line so you dont have nasty water just pooling in there? Then just make a couple of them so you can quickly rotate them out daily to clean them. Youd also be able to collect of the loose change and items.
Why not make and other screen you can swap while cleaning?
We usually do this while machines are not running.
Thanks for the video. Great content

I'm surprised you don't have a pre-filter or a 2nd filter to swap out while you clear a filter.
It only takes a minute to clean. We usually do it early in the day when the washers are not in use.

I've seen a ton of different designs on these, I prefer the trough. It's what I know.
Looks like a 2" piece of pvc with 1/4 inch holes drilled in it, make a spare with spare change found in drain.
more like 4 inch
This is 4 inch PVC with 1/2 inch holes.

Thank you for sharing this but how often do you recommend cleaning the trough filter?
Depends on volume, but at least weekly.
I was wondering, is that concrete water tight? Or did you apply some kind of sealant?
We did not seal it. It's water tight though.
does that not smell? i always wondered what that nasty smell is in some places.
We clean it weekly and treat with some bleach. Does not smell if maintained.
Is there a bad smell if you doesn’t clean the trough weekly ,like the way it looks and works.
Not really cause the water is always filtering through. It shouldn't get this bad though, that's on us.

This is what I have found works best for me.
why you didn't hose out the inside of your screen? you did a half assed job . do it right
