One quick tip I just learned: instead of holding the pieces upright with your hand and quickly removing your hand while striking, you can use a piece of kindling to hold the piece you want to cut so your fingers stay far away from the axe at all times. Thanks again!
Nice techniques. However Hultafors advises against striking the neck of that particular axe with another tool. I believe that the show techniques where the axes neck is stroken on to the hard wooden surface is equal to striking the neck with a tool
