Due to its weight and shape it dont want to shake but oscillate on the vertical plane. This method is used on actual skyscrapers by building massive weight on the top of the building. There are also implemented shock absorbers to amplify the effect and even more to prevent resonation. If he left that device on 3 for 10-15 sec longer it will topple-over. Anything above 4 was only about if the base can hadle the vibration

How to beat the shake table. Put so much weight on it that it cannot function properly resulting in a maximum of shake level three the entire time.
This goes to show if you make if you make a skyscraper out of solid stone, it will withstand any natural disaster.

4:55 there's a little brick under the plate that doesn't allow for the machine to wiggle as much. That's why.
Well, the machine was blocked halfway through because of LEGOs under the plate...

Isnt the point of lego buildings that you can put stuff in them? A solid block of lego's imho isn't that interesting.
But yeah, it's not there fault if the rules of the competition are not thought out...
