Seen these guys in Ohio last week. A few take aways:
1.) The Bassist is Jacked and Brutal as fuck.
2.) Very entertaining; they played with a lot of spirit and passion- the crowd was much more involved than in this video.
3.) Nergal is 50/50 on performances. He's either there or not- its a shame. Glad I was able to see him on a good day.

Good story! There is a docu about metal. Done by Sam Nunn or Dunn who is a musician and an Anthropologist. One of the things he speaks of about metal in general is its ability in most cases to take us away from the everyday world or grind and let us free for a moment. THIS IS VERY TRUE!!!

Hell, it was a fucking honor for me and my band to play on the same stage as Nergal this summer at the Tons Of Rock festival, as well as watching Behemoth live there in 2016, they're simply amzing.

lol no it didn't. The show took place as planned.
I am 35 years old and don’t go as many converts as much but in 2006, Behemoth played in a tour called MASTERS OF CHAOS with Krisiun and Morbid Angel TWICE in San Francisco. Until this day it has been one of the most insane death metal concerts I’ve been to. Also, they were very new to the states and since social media was not a thing they were very new to a lot of people.
Glad to finally see an audience without having 95% of the people holding up their phones

Yo hablo de sus inicios amigo (empezó como una banda de Black Metal), y su esencia es arrastrada hasta el día de hoy. En la actualidad poco me gustan sus canciones e ideología, pero no deja de sorprenderme. Definitivamente es Death, pero en el género Black fue lo mejor de lo mejor (al menos para mí). Saludos!

It was amazing last tine i saw live concert in Bhrikutimandap , kathmandu , Nepal Love you behemoth
For all those MFers writing negative comments below. That you fuck up vocals can happen, especially when you play with another band the day before like Nergal did. The sound is so trashy because its a soundboard recording. Thats why you also didnt hear the crowd screaming Blow Your Trumpets for example. Its simply a bad audio mix on the video which wasnt the case at the show itself. I was at that show, front row. Have seen them for the seventh time, 4th time during the satanist cycle and it was by far their best show ive seen and probably the most intense metal act ive witnessed. I rarely see bands who are able to put ip such performances. Get a life, kiddies.

Marcus Bastos I honestly thought he sounded better in this one compared to the last few years. Definitely not how it used to sound though
His vocal technique is indeed really damaging for vocal chords. Any time you hear a singer use a "guttural" growling technique chances (Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth uses the same technique as Nergal for instance) are it hurts him like hell in the long run, because the modulation comes from the throat and not the diaphragm.
There are some advantages though : it sounds better than regular growling (depending on your natural voice pitch ofc, as the growls will be close to your normal singing voice) and you have better control over it, implying you have a far better reach than regular growling, and you can switch to clear/distorded easily as well (watch the concert again paying attention to those switches, you'll see what I mean, it's something you can do with a diaphragm growl).
Drawbacks are like I said : really damaging in the long run, harder to maintain in the course of a gig, and overall less powerful than standard growls (though you can force it, but better do it seldom, it's like screaming with your clean voice, you can't do it for 1 hour straight).
TBF it's amazing Nergal can still growl that way after all these years, he has one hell of a resilient voice to do that.
+Mada2 I think it's also the fact that he had Leukemia, so he probably can't push himself as hard as he used to.
I agree I went through radiation treatment and surgeries and I can say first hand, my singing voice is outright gone...so the fact that he can do any of this is incredible to me.
