- I am finally opening up about an experience that altered my entire life. Maybe dramatic but we all have our trauma. Posting this is a part of my healing journey.
*DISCLAIMER: this video is about ME and my experience. My entire experience over the last 3+ years cannot fully fit in a 27 minute video, many details are ofc not mentioned. I did end up getting a free sample for a little while in 2022 after negotiating, and my project rate was increased after discussion. I did not and have never received royalties for my work on their website or sold on Nordstrom.com and I have also never received credit as the original graphic pattern designer behind the work.*

Wow! How eye opening! I basically have every sweatshirt that you’ve designed. The owner definitely makes it sound and look like she designs everything. I never would have guessed that there were other artists doing the creating for her…she is just THAT blunt about making the designs.

Happy to hear the story. Unfortunately this is so common in all industries. Partnership/collabs often end badly. Greed is a success killer. Both parties have to share the wealth, grow together, and be a stand up, honest and loyal person. Or just do things on your own, like you are because in the end you and your family are all you’ve got! It’s great that you’re helping others leant the right way to do things and protect yourself and your assets. 👏🏻 karma is a b****.

Super inspiring. Glad you are sharing this story to spread awareness. I have worked in the apparel industry over a decade in large and small companies. There is still a ton about the industry that is frustrating and needs change. Best thing you can do is be an advocate for yourself and NEVER give up 🌸💕🫶💖✨

When you hire a designer to make designs for you, the company owns them. The company has no obligation to shout you out or give you any credit for them. Lala has been around way before this girl started designing for her. Lala is a marketing master GENIUS! And she knows where to put her time in. She has the ideas/inspo and then she hires people to execute them, so smart! She puts her time where is the most efficient and what’s going to make her more money. Like MARKETING (messaging, ads, visual merchandising, etc!) it takes a lot of skills to run a business not just designing.
It sounds like she got jealous of the millions of dollars that Lala was making and now she is using her for marketing.
I do wish this Emy girl the best and hopefully she can find her own style and voice ❤️
@@mairaclark9926 this is actually false. The designer owns the artwork unless copyright assignment is arranged and signed by both parties. You can ask any attorney to give you more information on this if needed. This goes for all forms of artwork including photography. The company absolutely has no obligation to shout me out (I am the emy girl btw) but what they absolutely can NOT do is tell me that I have to remove all of my own work from my portfolio and ask me to lie to the general public and say that I was never involved with the company nor did I design the artwork - since they claimed they (the owner herself) designed it and didn’t want that secret to be known. Did you watch the video at all? I definitely wasn’t jealous of the multi-millions of dollars her company makes per month, I was though a hurt human after the way I was treated for several years and I finally shared my side of the story. Hoping to maybe book some more clients after seeing where MY work can take a business (when paired with great marketing ofc.) Please watch the video if you’re going to comment on it because a lot of what you’re saying contradicts the point entirely.

I love this brand style because my style and and size im plus size and busty and it fits! This has me thinking i will probably hold off for ordering from lala for awhile alot of people been talking about her. Where their smoke there is fire. I am so sorry this happened to you! Wow. I am so sorry. I will no longer buy from lala now. This was the straw that broke the back on low quality SHEIN worthy polyester fabric, over priced, can’t leave a review, and poor customer service.

I just bought clothes from Lala not knowing this happen.
Their clothes is so expensive but It is hard for me to find I really like out there so I decided to spend little more for style that I really love.
Sorry what happened to you. I have mixed feelings now thinking I bought clothes that doesn’t take good care of worker.
One thing I thought about Lala, when I was trying to decide what size to buy and they say what model wear what size and stuff in description below but I have no idea who is wearing what size. They have models name with their hight and their normal size and stuff but I don’t know which one is which. Now because I am hearing about your story, their web site is not kind than I would expect.
I hope size that I chose is works for me but again, I have not so feel good.
